  1. Ni! (I couldn't help it) Check out the Geocaching Lexicon.
  2. I really wish I had not followed that link because now I am truly filled with ANGST! While I appreciate Jeremy's candor and honesty, this is the most frustrating post of all. This tells me that for the last 5 years they've been blowing smoke up our butts. He doesn't even seem to have a proper grasp of what the main issue is. Search would be great. But I can live completely without the search function as long as the site actually works. ARGGGGGG!!!!!!! Ok, time for me to seriously get off the forums for a while. My blood pressure was just fine until I read that.
  3. No thanks. This has been going on since I joined 5 years ago. Complaining is not meant to get them to move faster. It just helps us feel a little better in the interim.
  4. A thread about virtuals? Not a chance. Back on topic.... Ni!
  5. That might just prove a point be a strong indicator that geocaching is more about the experience than the competitiveness.
  6. Where's Brian during all of this? Out getting coffee for the group? Does he still log the find? That's what I want to know! We're waiting, Brian! *** This was meant to be humorous. It may have failed miserably, however. Thus this disclaimer has been attached.
  7. Day 2 of the excruciatingly long load times and I am just about to that point.
  8. FAIL! I'm going to bed. Maybe this madness will be gone by tomorrow.
  9. I gotta admit I was having a hard time reconciling that statement along with the next one agreeing with sbell.
  10. I don't think what he's doing is safe. That block behind the tire could slip, and the truck might roll over his foot. I was so concentrated on the welding of the gas tank that I totally missed the block behind the tire.
  11. I have a fairly good grasp of the English language. thief    /θif/ Show Spelled[theef] Show IPA –noun, pluralthieves. a person who steals, esp. secretly or without open force; one guilty of theft or larceny.
  12. It can't be done. What IF you are wrong? I cannot tell.
  13. (I'm not sure anyone is taking this serious)
  14. Nope. Everything on the ground. Now if you owned the property and didn't mind digging, you could use an unaltered safe and dig a jack pit under one side. You could also eliminate the brace.
  15. If I were a numbers hound, I think I'd just automatically deduct those numbers from that cacher's totals if I knew s/he was part of the hide team. And now you have me reconsidering the challenge cache situation also. Hmmmm. I'm conflicted.
  16. Then I'd just sign over the sticker or stamp.
  17. Ok, here's something I threw together. You have a 500lb block of solid steel (or concrete). On the top you have a channel. On one side you have a place to drop a key in so that it can't be retrieved by any devices such at clamps, magnets, etc. You get the idea. On the other side of the channel you have a hinged door. There is a brace that keeps the thing from tilting back and leaves room to get your jack in. You have to jack the whole thing up on one side and the key slides to the other side. You then use the key to open a locked cache. OR, you could alter a safe and use it as the item to jack up and then unlock. Tons of fun for everyone. Especially the idiots buddies you talk into helping you lug it out to ground zero.
  18. this has been brought up before, but i don't agree. you can only meet a certain challenge requirement, you can't "find" it. you can only "find" the physical cache. and by having placed it, you will know where it is, thus you can't really "find" it. challenge or not. I'd have no problem accepting that as a valid find. I'd consider it sort of like "hosting" the challenge.
  19. Surely a treat would lure a young pup such as yourself. Arf!!! That would be a great FTF treat for a cache hidden in a dog park.
  20. I was convinced by the time we heard from the reviewer, about three comments down in the FIRST thread. Me too. But it's been a fun ride, hasn't it?
  21. Actually I think you'd be onto something right up to the point where you weld the cover shut. The only problem I can see (besides welding the cover shut and thus not allowing a signed log) is that by a strict interpretation of your stated rule, I would be able to post a picture of myself wearing a funny hat in my living room and you would have to allow me a find. You don't state it has to be made with your cache in hand.

  23. But.... who's gonna compare the scents to validate that cacher's log? And what if they decide to log the log with a log? it looks like you're spending the time you get from waiting for the pages to load to pick new avatars. which makes for a lot of avatars in a short time It's definitely a side affect. A good one? I let you decide.
