Finally I got Garmin Email reply. For supporting my case, they told me to call their support line as it is not practical in my case. What I need is to have my GPS device with a high speed computer with internet. So does anyone know how does Garmin troubleshoot for the device?

After a week of testing, I found that the device "Factory Reset" is very likely to happen after I have connected the device to my PC in following approach: I tried to connect to my home computer with Base Camp installed. It has no problem if I activated and it showed the message "The Garmin is in Sync" with my PC. I tried to connect to my office computer without Base Camp installed, for two times, it performed "Factory Reset" after I disconnected from my office computer. I did not hot plug/unplug the device and I used the most formal way to disconnect the device from my Windows 10. I sent email to Garmin Support and I have received not response for more than 5 business day. It is a very disappointed experience for this poor customer care as well as the poor device quality when comparing to the old model. I just sent another message via FB messenger and let see what will be happened.

After reading a lot in this group, I would like to buy one set of Eneloops to try. One stupid question, if I put in a Eneloops to the GPSMap 66, can I just charge it buy plug in the USB cable to back of GPS unit?

Thanks for your link. I read through your forum and one guy also got this issue when he new purchased the device. However he just returned it to the shop. Anyway I would like to contact Garmin but their live chart seems not so responsive. I have one more question about the birdseye subscription. As per Garmin said GPSMap 66 has life time subscription to access the Birdseye image on server. I can successful download image through device to wifi connectivity. I also able to download via Basecamp. When I download from Basecamp Birdseye section, I see that my subscription is valid for 1 year time counting form the day I first download the image. Is this validity true? Can I still download from Basecamp 1 year after? Or I can only use the device to wifi connectivity to download?

I just received my new Garmin GPSMap 66S before Christmas, anyone has the following issues? I found that my device performed Factory Reset unexpectedly. I experienced this behavior 3 times and every time the system would jump into the "Language selection" screen (the screen that you switch on the device first time). After I choose "English" and enter the system main screen, all my previous setting is gone! Following are what happend before the system perform Factory Reset: - I had my wi-fi and bluetooth turned on when I had 3 bars on my devices. Since I was using Alkaline battery and the device was keep warning me "Low Battery" warning. Then I turned off the devices and restart. During the restart, the system was crashed. I needed to take out the battery and replaced a new one. This time the boot was success but the device was reset. - The device battery level was dropped to "Red Bar" and I switched off the device. The next day I switch on the device again with the old battery, the system was freeze on the loading screen and again, the system was reset. - I plugged the USB cable into the device when it was on. It jumped into USB connection mode. After the file sync successfully, I disconnected my device safely and I unplugged the cable. Again, the system was reset. Anyone had any of this symptom? Is it firmware issue, hardware issue or Battery issue (Alkaline)?

Groundspeak is charging premium price but not giving me premium service. Please give me back google map!

I think the reason of adding avatar is to making the screen not so empty, but for me who is still using 1024*768 resolution is not that fun for the new design. I suggest Groundspeak should allow user to choose the favorite way on displaying the outlook! In addition, I found that the block "CHALLENGES COMPLETED" in profile page is wrapped into next row under the resolution I am using!

I like the idea of "challenges" but the new looking is really bad. It included the pictures of cache founder which is not necessary and it is a useless information for reader. In addition, it turned the board into messy!

I am writing here to post more detail about me. I am a geocacher living in Hong Kong. I like any kind of outdoor and nature activity, especially in cycling, hiking and mountaineering. And my newly favouritest activity is to go geocaching since the year of 2009. I also enjoy travel around the world. I visited several countries in Europe and also some in Africa. I would like to extend my foot print in the earth village in coming years. Very appreciate if you can put me onto adoption list.

Garmin stated that the Colorado 300/400t comes with WorldBase Map with DEM data. I would like to ask what happen if I travel to the rest of the world, is it possible to see 3D mountain view at a location other than America?

I have a problem!!! I have a hiking tour in outlaying island near Hong Kong with my 60CS and I got following tracklog (From OziExplorer) after I download it to home computer. The height value sudden jumped to 98422 and I found that it recovers to normal after 2 hours!! The new update firmware version 3.9 has tracking problem...... It used up 90% of my tracklog even I only walked 8 hours in a day hike... I have set it to "Normal" frequence and this sympthom did not appear in pervious version of firmware.

What does it mean? How can I make use of it?

Previous reports of firmware version 3.70 showing that the tracklog recording mechanism is so simplified when the car turns at the 90 degree street corner. Is the version 3.80 fixed this problem?

How well does the Strong Engineering screen protector fit the 60CS screen? As you know, the 60CS has 2 "In" and "Out" buttons that makes it extremely difficult to cut a perfect shaped screen protector for it.

The new sirf III chips even got 20 channels! In a normal 12 channels receiver, you will not able to get all 12 GPS birds while 1 or 2 channels have been used by WAAS. So 14 channels may helps

Any one know the function of .rgn file in the update? I found that the last 3 digits are related to the firmware version. (e.g. xxxxx370.rgn is for version 3.7) It seem that xxxxx360.rgn can't overwrite xxxxx370.rgn which already written into my 60CS. Any idea??

I would like to ask if 60C/60CS use USB cable to transmit NMEA text? or I can only use a standard 60c/60CS serial cable to do that?
