  1. I personally log the find as soon as I send the required info. The only time I will wait for a response is if for some reason I am not sure I have something right. - Rev Mike
  2. Number one on that list is the only one that matters to me. I want a jaw-dropping location. The hide matters little because once I get somewhere great I either find the cache or not. But if the location is great not finding the cache matters little and I will still walk away happy. I could also care less about the swag. Nicer items are better but I cache just for where it takes me. - Rev Mike
  3. TOO MANY people don't bother reading the cache pages. I can think of one of mine in particular that I made very clear "you should follow the stream bed the entire way"... I believe I made mention of it about three times in the listing. This was the log from the second finder: Nice easy cache my as..... I did this cache I received my first geocaching injury. I was doing some local Behrend caches when I got the Stumblin cache, I then looked at my GPS unit and saw that the first stage of this was less than .10 mile from where I was. Plus the creek was right there too. Totally unprepared, khaki shorts, polo shirt, sneakers (my nice ones), and no flashlight (didn't see why we needed this during the day), I was off. Found stage one fine then found stage two, this is where boglemans story and mine change, unlike him I took on the challenge of tackiling the 4.5-5 terrian difficulty. After a lengthy climb (dumbass me) the unit then pointed down the gorge. Here we go. I slid down down down, then i slipped and we were off sliding down the gorge, not to bad, tree to hold on to, grab it and get a tree burn, blood everywhere. Got back to the creek, found the cache on the other side of where I was and saw the telephone, too tired and sore to write down those coords, so I signed the log and kissed the container and rehid it. Even though this is in a creek I advise not to take little kids. Oh by the way TFTC! It was fun! This is what he climbed up and then went down... That is not the only time someone not reading the page has resulted in something like that with one of my caches but it was the first thing to come to mind while reading this topic. - Rev Mike
  4. Only the cache owner or the tb/coin owner can move the coin to an unknown location so it no longer shows as being in a cache it is not in. I would suggest emailing either party. - Rev Mike
  5. Waymarks or EarthCaches... those are the only two options. - Rev Mike
  6. I have a way but it is not a good one. I look through all of the caches around where I am going to be, read all the listings, look at a few of the pictures, and look for "favorites list" bookmarks. Very time-consuming but I find better caches in the end. - Rev Mike
  7. Some cachers are just like that. At the end of the day you only have to answer to yourself... just keep caching in the way that you find most fun. - Rev Mike
  8. Unless I don't understand the question that is already there right across from the map at the bottom of the listing and looks like this: Find... ...other caches hidden or found by this user ...nearby caches of this type, that I haven't found ...all nearby caches, that I haven't found ...all nearby waymarks on Waymarking.com ...all nearby benchmarks ...all nearby Hotels
  9. I have found a few caches by this hider and can't recall any that were not rated properly. Judging from the 1 DNF aand over 130 finds I doubt it is tricky. There is always the chance that it is missing. I recommend sending the cache owner an email and asking about it. - Rev Mike
  10. Does not sound like you need to do anything with your GPS. I would simply take the best guess that I could since that would be an estimate. Could you perhaps reference the two listing you ask about? - Rev Mike
  11. This is the email I sent him after I deleted the log: I regret to inform you that I must delete your found log for this cache. While you seem to have completed the requirements of the cache - you have posted the information that should be sent by email in your log. For this reason I must delete your log to ensure that the correct answers are not on the page and that others must visit the location in order to recieve credit for the find. You are welcome to log your find again provided you keep the answers out of your log. You do not have to send me the email since I have already seen your answers. Please do not forget to post the required photo as well. After which he relogged the find with the answers. I then sent this email: Please edit you found log to REMOVE THE ANSWERS or I will have to delete the log again. The photo is fine but the answers CANNOT be in the log. This was not done and I just had to delete his second log. The instructions are clear on the page and I would like to think that my two emails were also clear. I know he went there and found the cache... but why can't he follow the instructions? - Rev Mike
  12. 1 - Go here: http://douweosinga.com/projects/visited?region=world 2- Check the countries your coin has visited. 3 - Copy the code (found below where you check the countries) into the clipboard. 4 - Go to the page for your coin. 5 - Select "Edit this item" on the left. 6 - Paste the code into the into description field then click submit changes.
  13. I have worked with nine reviewers since my first cache placement. Of that I only know who three are and have only personally met one of them. But they all do great things for us... So... Many thanks guys and gal!!! - Rev Mike
  14. One of my EarthCaches was just found by someone who posted all of the required info right in the log and then never sent an email or posted the required picture. I feel bad deleting the log since I think it was an honest mistake and they were the "FTF" for what that matters. It was this cachers first EarthCache. I sent a nice email explaining why I had to take the action I did and welcomed him to re-log his find just without the answers included this time. I also requested the photo be posted and told him not to bother with emailing the answers since it is already clear he has them. This was the first time I had to delete an EC log and I was wondering how often it is necessary. How many of you have had to do this and why? I did not like having to do it but I can't have the first finder posting all the info... - Rev Mike
  15. Vinny is correct about God destroying micros. BTW - God is a Red Sox fan too so don't get your hopes up Tampa people. - Rev Mike
  16. Yes that would be fine. You can put the stages as close together or as far apart as you want... I would imagine the only limit to this is that none of the stages are so far away that your reviewer doubts you could maintain them and provided they are not with in 528 feet of another cache. - Rev Mike
  17. I would never do that for a cache but I have done it twice for benchmarks. Seems like a bad idea for a cache placement and possibly illegal depending on where you are. - Rev Mike
  18. Back before I quit searching for micros I did this once. It was a WalMart lampskirt and I did not even put the car into park... come to think about it, that is about when I quit looking for micros. How about that? - Rev Mike
  19. Cache reviews in Pennsylvania are currently occuring within a day or two of submission. There are no pending cache listings under your account, in PA or elsewhere. Could you please double check and make sure that your submissions went through? Many thanks for checking on that for me, Keystone. I know they are not there because they are all EarthCaches. I only made that statement to show that reviewers have lives too... and patience is a good thing.
  20. I certainly meant no insult but posting this one small bit of information earlier on this thread would have kept so many people from asking. - Rev Mike
  21. When looking at your cache page go to "log your visit" just like you would if you were going to log a cache you found. Select "update coordinates" from the drop-down menu and then check the "add a waypoint to the log" check box. Enter your new coordinates and then post a note saying that you needed to change the coordinates. This is fine for smaller moves like what you are looking to do. If the move is significant enough it must be done by a reviewer. - Rev Mike
  22. Cemetary + night = bad idea. Would have been nice if the CO used attributes or stated "cache in a cemetary - don't search at night," but common sense should prevail here too.
  23. All depends on the area and the reviewer. I am fairly certain the reviewer that I am currently working with is on vacation. I have six that have been sitting there for 7-13 days. No big deal... they will get published when they do. This is not typical and I believe the 72 hours that Caching Scout mentioned is normally the max. - Rev Mike
