  1. Geez!!! It was a joke. At least I got it. - Rev Mike
  2. You don't happen to have piictures or remember what was stamped on them do you? - Rev Mike
  3. This is what I have come up with as my favorite EC for each state that I have looked for ECs in. I had trouble picking one for PA and NY so you get two for each of those states. DE - Delaware's Iron Age FL - Ravine Gardens State Park EarthCache IN - Pisgah Marsh KY - Kentucky's High Point MD - Great Fall's Olmsted Island MA - Purgatory Chasm NH - Metamorphic Folding NJ - Alloway Creek Wetland Restoration Site NY - Moss Island Earthcache or Eternal Flame Falls Earthcache NC - Hanging Rock Multi-Falls OH - Ancient Waterfall PA - Waterfalls of Ricketts Glen or Centralia, The Burning Town TN - Bristol Caverns Earthcache VT - Goodsell Ridge Fossil Preserve VA - Mather Gorge WV - Dolly Sods Wilderness Enjoy... - Rev Mike
  4. Sounds like a cool cache. I have had to go to the ER twice from caching and both times I have managed to end up right back in the woods after being discharged. I am also overly cautious with my GPS even though it should be waterproof. It took a nasty fall one of those times that resulted in a hospital visit and I had to snap the case back together. I am not sure that the waterproof seal lined up correctly after that so I always carry it above my head in something waterproof when swimming to a cache. It is a 60CSx and I was always a bit surprised that even though they made it waterproof it still sinks. - Rev Mike
  5. Please read the Guidelines here. Then you may submit the cache listing here. - Rev Mike
  6. No. Goals should be personal. Everyone participates for different reasons and takes from it what they will. I would suggest starting a little competition among a few local friends if you really must compete with someone. - Rev Mike
  7. I think that 400 might be slightly excessive for a deleted log. That many may very well overrun the CO's town. I think 5 to 10 might be better... the CO may survive but that is OK since the message will have been received. Just a quick bit on topic: I don't need the find so I would just ignore it if it was deleted more than once. - Rev Mike
  8. Boy would that be nice... I wonder what area has the best caches??? - Rev Mike
  9. I had wondered about those lines myself. - Rev Mike
  10. I have yet to see one break. - Rev Mike
  11. How true... I stretched a nine hour drive into a three day trip once. - Rev Mike
  12. That would be my only concurn... if I even cared that much. The only time I ever police my logs is for my EarthCaches. Most of us try to be helpful. Welcome, Frank. Hope you enjoy caching in that beautiful area you are from - There are some great hides there. - Rev Mike
  13. I have no idea what model the Remington is but it has taken good care of me for over a decade now. The other one cost only about two dollars and it is only used with the magnesium block. - Rev Mike
  14. I have to say I think things are just fine as they are. - Rev Mike
  15. Even though I am in favor of ignoring them, I would have to say the caches sound to me like they violate at least this portion of the guidelines: Cache Permanence When you report a cache on the Geocaching.com web site, geocachers should (and will) expect the cache to be there for a realistic and extended period of time. Therefore, caches that have the goal to move ("traveling caches"), or temporary caches (caches hidden for less than 3 months or for events) most likely will not be published. If you wish to hide caches for an event, bring printouts to the event and hand them out there. We realize that it is possible that a planned long-term cache occasionally becomes finite because of concerns with the environment, missing or plundered caches, or the owner’s decision to remove the cache for other valid reasons. Please do your best to research fully, hide wisely, and maintain properly for a long cache life. I agree with the needs maintenance logs and finally an SBA if there is no response but only if you find you really can't ignore them. - Rev Mike Edit to finish what I was typing when I accidentally submitted the post.
  16. I see he does have some finds. It looks like his caches are getting an overwhelming negative response. I would probably try and give him a little help... it is possible that the mistakes he has made are out of ignorance. I know that is still not an excuse for what looks to me like not even trying to read the guidelines. - Rev Mike
  17. It is as simple as ignoring that hider. I see you are a premium member and that comes an ignore list. - Rev Mike
  18. That benchmark is a chiseled cross and does not appear to have numbers but I am sure that the opera house might have a few. - Rev Mike
  19. Well I am not holding my breath waiting for a new covered bridge to be built. The township has wanted to tear it down for years since it is one of the only ways into a rather remote part of the county. Now that the bridge is gone the people living there have to go over twenty minutes the other way to get around to the other side. The proble with the covered bridge was as remote as the area was they could not get firetrucks, plows, or other important emergency response vehicles through. They had their hands tied while the bridge was standing but I truely suspect something more modern showing up to replace it. If they catch the kids that torched it they should have to rebuild the bridge themselves at their own expense. and maybe we could beat them too... ok not really. - Rev Mike
  20. That is a good thing to bring up. I personally know just about every cacher whose hides I ignore and have no problem with any of them as people. - Rev Mike
  21. Seriously? A gun? Yes. Came in handy the first time I ran into a mother bear with cubs. - Rev Mike
  22. Why did you go back... is the 305 better or easier to use? - Rev Mike
