  1. Thanks, I hope you didn't go to too much trouble tracking down all those threads. We've been aware of the issue and hope to have a fix pushed out tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience! Thanks for the ack!
  2. Bump. I'm looking for some acknowledgment that this issue has reached the ears of gc.com, and that it is on the to-do list.
  3. Uploading a GPX format route file seems to have broken when all the changes were put in last month. This was reported and confirmed in another thread. However, that thread also discussed a number of other problems, and it seems that this particular one got lost in the noise. If it's just me being stupid, I'd like some help getting it working again. If it's a problem with the site, I'd like some confirmation from gc.com that they know about the problem and will address it. Here are the steps I've taken: Create Route in MapSource, export as GPX Go to http://www.geocaching.com/my/userroutes.aspx and select the "Upload GPX / KML" tab Click the "Browse..." button and select the .gpx file with the route. Click the "Upload" button. No errors are reported, but the list of uploaded files is empty so I cannot proceed further. Using Windows XP/Firefox 2.0.0.9 Uploading also fails with an old .gpx route file that I uploaded successfully 6 month ago. This behavior has been confirmed by several other posters in the other thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3128222 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3132041 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3132810 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3134634 http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3127424 One person reported using Delorme Topo instead of MapSource to create the GPX and getting the same result: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3145554 Apparently uploading a KML file still works, this is only a problem with GPX files.
  4. No, there has been no official acknowledgment of the problem. If I knew they were working on it, I wouldn't mind waiting for a fix. Perhaps a new thread is called for, since this one discusses several unrelated issues.
  5. I despised the old Geocaching.com maps, and I've used the Geocaching.com Google Maps exclusively since they were introduced. With the sole exception of viewing archived caches, where I HAD to use the old maps. If you want to protect sensitive areas, dangerous or offlimits areas, etc. the best way is exactly OPPOSITE what you're doing. You should be going out of your way to provide AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE about these locations. ESPECIALLY all the archived caches that used to be there. Responsible cachers try to do their homework before placing a cache, and the archived cache pages, cache logs, and admin logs saying why they were shut down are VITAL pieces of information. Like a previous poster mentioned, there can be problems with a neighboring landowner, crime problems, unsafe structures - maybe even a park ranger who has asked not to have geocaches in that location. But none of these things are apparent on a map. How is one to know? By researching the archived caches at that location!
  6. I am very thankful that the Google Maps Preview of Pocket Queries is back and running. The absence of that feature was seriously impacting my caching. And it's now better than it was before because the caches displayed are no longer limited to a small number, so I'm doubly thankful. Green Lake is in Seattle, home of GC.com. Presumably the map coordinates default there until the right map boundaries can be parsed out of the PQ. I would call this a serious bug, because everyone knows that it's really FREMONT that's the Center of the Universe.
  7. There seems to be several different bugs being discussed here. The "Server Error in '/' Application" bug has been addressed in other threads since it occurs in other contexts as well. The problem I am having is the same as several others have mentioned, namely I create a GPX using MapSource and upload it on the "Caches along a Route" page. No errors are reported, but the list of uploaded files is empty, so I cannot proceed further. Using Windows XP/Firefox 2.0.0.8 This used to work...
  8. Problem: Cache along Route - uploading GPX of route no longer works. Discussed in (this thread) No official acknowledgment of the problem yet.
  9. That sounds perfect! It needs to get to the cache GCM1GY which looks to be about a 20km drive East of Aarhus. I'll contact you off list to arrange the transfer. Thanks!
  10. I've got a coin that wants to get to Denmark. Is anyone from the Seattle area heading that way in the near future?
  11. I can use 10. And if you get stuck with extras, I'll be happy to take some of those off your hands too.

    New Site Bugs

The bug, introduced with the site redesign, is: When logged in as a premium member, and trying to view the HTML source on a members-only page, instead of the HTML source for the page I get the HTML source for an error page (the error page says, I need to be a member to see this page!). This is a problem because, for some puzzles, the answer is in the HTML source - these puzzles are unsolvable until the bug gets fixed. Viewing the HTML source of a page that is NOT restricted to members-only works just fine. Browser: Firefox 2.0.0.4
  13. I'll take 10 too. Thanks for putting this together!
  14. I'm very excited about attending another Cache Machine! Is the April 07 date firm? That is during spring break for schools here on the wet side, also it's the day before Easter. Would the following weekend be possible?
  15. My bookmark list of caches that can be done with canoe, kayak, or raft: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...70-8e00a92714c0 Any suggestions for caches to add to this list?
  16. I'm interested in rescuing and adopting a cache near where I live, (GC51DB) "Beaver Lake Again!" by Frank and Justin This is a nice multicache in a nice park, but the cache has been gradually deteriorating for years. The paper in the waypoints has turned to mush and is virtually unreadable, and has been that way for a year. The owners have not logged on for 17 months. I have sent them several e-mails dating back to September with no response. The final is still there, and still in good condition. I think this one is worth saving, but if not then it should be archived to free up this large park for other caches.
  17. I'll do that next time I'm out that way if I can *find* the darn thing. I certainly searched the stump that "The_LangHerd" mentioned - searched it real well back in September and didn't find anything. Wouldn't be the first time I've missed finding an easy cache ...
  18. There's was a new cache GCW8DB placed a hundred feet or so from the archived Tanner Mill, so Tanner Mill probably shouldn't be reactivated.
  19. Two please. If you make them in more than one metal, I'd like two of each. Thanks.
  20. Hi LandRover, I think that flashlight is mine, I was using it when we were at the Cedar Falls micro and I guess it got mixed up with your stuff there or in the car. It's silver with a black nylon sheath?
  21. Hi Cruiser Guy, Looks like I will be able to make it! See you at the lake...
