  1. Yes you are correct I meant iWay. Looking at the 100M specs it does not say anything about switching between a mapping unit and a turn by turn unit. The manual states "When Turn-by-Turn navigation is disabled, the iWAY will offer additional menu options and map display behavior that is unnecessary in Turn-by-Turn mode" is this implying mapping capability? Probably the only way to find out will be when somebody buys one and tries it out, same thing for the reading of mapcreate custom topo maps. It does say it will read .usr files which is a plus.
  2. I have been using Oziexplorer for many years and it can not be beat for editing GPS functions and it will talk to almost any GPS vendor in the market place. Oziexplorer will read and write .usr files. Just select in the Configuration screen, GPS Tab, GPS Model, select USR File. Do not use any of the other .usr choices as they add addition waypoints with blank Long and Lat data to the saved . usr file. If you wish to view or print your GPS data on maps Ozi will read USGS DRG's and some other map files. See www.oziexplorer.com for details. Just remember any time you upload .usr data into your lowrance unit you must clear out the old data first as the new stuff is added to what is in the unit.
  3. To clear up a previous post. The iFinders and the iHwys are 2 different units as far as capabilities and use now. First the iFinders are mapping units meaning you can upload and download waypoints, trails and icons to the unit and that information can be changed and edited with third party software and lowrance mapcreate software as well as import additional background maps for more detail from Mapcreate. Second the iHwy units do not allow you to manage waypoints with external software (lowrance or third party). These units do not have trails or plots that show where you have been. They are designed for turn by turn navigation to addresses or POI's (points of interest) in the USA and Canada. All the map and POI details are loaded on a hard drive in the GPS unit, it also has topo map details for the USA but they are not accessable yet. In the future they are planning a software option to allow the iHwy to switch between a mapping unit and a turn by turn unit.
