  1. Skirmish charges $29.95 for entry and gear for the day. The rub with them is this... Full Case = 2000 paintballs = $99.00 1500 paintballs = $82.00 1000 paintballs = $59.00 500 paintballs = $35.00 100 paintballs = $7.50 12 or more cases of paint = $72.00 per case 5 or more cases = $85.00 per case You must use thier paint. Leftover paint can be used there for up to one year. Of course you could take you paint and shoot it elsewhere. If everyone wants to make the trip to Skirmish I can help set that up also.
  2. ABC has 2 fields. One woods ball and one speed ball. It doesn’t matter how many of us show up. You’ll have to play against people that are real good and some that are real bad. They try and balance the teams out for skills as well as numbers. If you all want to go there I can make all the arrangements. They open at 9:30am and the first woods games are around 10am. The Bardmin and I play there almost every week. We stay in the woods though. Last game in the woods is about 4pm. Last game on the speedball field is about 4:30pm I don’t know any decent places to have an event afterwards though. Also most people only want a shower after a day at paintball. The cost to play breaks down like this. $15 if you have your own gear $40 if you rent gear $15 per 500 paintballs With enough warning I can have a few cases of paintballs there. The price would be $10 per 500. The average player goes through 800-1200 paintballs a day. A new player or first time player can expect to shoot about 1500. I am going to quote a couple of posts from the ABC forums that I posted a few days ago. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are 2 fields at ABC. A speedball field that you will see first and a woods ball field you need to walk a minute or two to get to. After you have paid and gotten your gear you then go around towards the field. Who ever is the head ref that day (Most likely Bill) will give you a 15 minute orientation. They go over the rules of play and safety. The refs at ABC are very serious about safety. Keeping your goggles on whenever you are on the field, crono station or walking up to the woods field is a must. Keeping your barrel cover/plug in when ever you’re not playing is just as important. There is little tolerance for goofing around with those two things. Most of the players are very friendly. They will offer tips and hints about strategy and basic play. Most of them are looking to get more people playing and thus making the game they love bigger and better. So you won’t find a lot of newbie bashing. Most of all have fun. Paintball is a great way to spend a day. You’ll have stories to tell for days from just one day of playing. There are lunch breaks at both fields. Just ask around for what time those are and you can plan your day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The amount of players on each team depends on the amount of players that show up. The speedball field is very large and can easily handle 20 on 20. The woods ball field can handle about the same. With folks coming and going all day and sitting out a game (to rest, reload, clean guns or eat) it’s almost a guarantee that you can play as many games as you want to. The refs are pretty careful about splitting up players so that no one side dominates the other. They know most of the regulars and know their skill level. There is always the off chance that an off balance will occur. Quietly mention to a ref that is was un-balanced and they will do their best to fix it next game. They will also allow groups to play together as much as possible. You and your friends could play on the same team or split up. Try playing both ways. Shooting a friend is always worth bragging rights for a few weeks.
  3. Looks like a decent charity hat's not asking you to mortgage your house. I can toss a few bucks their way.
  4. Sockpuppets are worse........It's better to be bitter than a coward.
  5. You may want to check that your home coords are correct. From your "My account" page click on the Update home coordinates link. I've never heard of anyone having this problem before and I know the caches on my closest cache list are the correct distance from my home.
  6. It wouldn't hurt to move this to the getting started forum. Just as a simple reminder for people getting started and looking for info.
  7. Other than the ability to log into the site, see cache pages (the non-members only ones), read the coords and log a find there really doesn’t need to be anything else. That’s enough for anyone play. In fact it’s just enough to wet the whistle of most people. From there they will A) continue playing that way B ) not play anymore C) upgrade to premium membership. I personally think most folks fall into the latter two categories. All the other stuff isn’t really needed to play. This includes the ability to download 20 caches at a time from the search page. When I first started playing I had a basic Etrex yellow. The website didn’t give me much more than what I described above. Since I’m basically lazy I wanted a cable to link GPS to computer, Mapsource maps to view caches, a better GPS, a PDA and PQs to tie them all together. I don’t need those things to Geocache. I wanted them. So basically all that needs to remain free would have to be the things I pointed out in the first paragraph.
  8. That would be pretty funny. If it's ok, I may just borrow that idea.
  9. I think you should try and leave the cache as close to the way it was as possible. Making the cache easier or harder minimizes the previous finders effort. If you feel you must change the cache then archive it and create a new cache.
  10. Leave a gallon of water in your car. That way you'll have some for the ride home.
  11. And go to Ramsey outdoors. I bought a vest and wool cap for under $10 a few years ago.
  12. I posted this in general. But I should have posted it here. Could the arrow be a bit larger? Other than that It's a nifty feature
  13. Could the arrows be a bit bigger? Maybe I'm getting old (sheesh) but I think a slightly larger arrow would be nice.
  14. You still need to work this out a bit more. What is it you're looking to do?
  15. I think you need to explain a bit more on what you are thinking. I geocache and I play paintball. I just can't figure out how you are trying to combine the two. Give us a short rundown on what is expected. Some things to think about Paintball side Own equipment or rentals? Official field or renegade field? Goggle breaks? Geocaching side Multi cache, Event or other? Race style? Prizes? I could assist you in the planning if you like. But a little more info is needed.
  16. Sorry chief, I'm not the one here that is desperate for validation.
  17. Mistersparkle = north eastern New Jersey Moan*A*Lisa = north western New Jersey Pbfanatic = north central New Jersey There_it_is = south central New Jersey Limeaway = south eastern New Jersey (western section) That’s all I have right now. I’ll be sure to add more though.
  18. Sorry to wade into this fray...but this is just to easy.... No, but it has started wars.....which in turn have started fires.
  19. When you do that you should log your find. I would log a note until I've placed my mark in the logbook. It doesn't really matter though. Everyone has different opinions on what a find is.
  20. Whenever you look for a cache and you don't find it. You post a DNF. I've posted 3 DNFs on one cache that as there and I just didn't find it.
  21. I answer verification email as soon as I can. Normally within 2 days. Most people log the caches minutes before they send the verification mail. (This has been my experience). Only a very small group waits for an answer before they log. The only time I do not answer is when the email consists of “I know this isn’t right but can I still log the cache” Those emails I don’t answer.
  22. No sympathy from this corner. I’m at work 8am-8pm No rest for the wicked.
  23. As always....... Here is the log that goes with it.
  24. As a child when I didn't know how to spell a word the teachers and my parents would tell me to look it up. As a child I resented that. I couldn't understand why they couldn't just give me the answer. As an adult I became to appreciate the learning skills I had been taught.
