Sorry, but we can't publish caches within the festival site. Caches need to be generally accessible to the caching community without having to pay to gain access. Lindinis - Groundspeak Volunteer Reviewer

I had an email & log to say I was followed at 70mph down the M1 for about 5miles before he could read the TB number, and he then realised he had missed his turn-off!

One other point, as reviewers we have no idea the age of a cacher, unless of course, we've met them at an event etc. We don't know if we are dealing with a 13 year old or a 67 year old cacher. I had, for instance assumed a cacher with very poor spelling was a young cacher - Wrong, he was a slightly dyslexic 34 year old. The point is that we know as much as communicating with someone on Facebook without looking at their profile.

Caches in British Telecom phone boxes
Lindinis replied to Graculus's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
If any landowner tells us they don't want caches on their property, then I don't see an argument, they don't have to give a reason. Looking elsewhere in the forums and Facebook etc, it seems to be a welcome guideline change. There are a lot of cachers who have welcomed a reduction in the number of nano's in smelly, grotty phone boxes littered with broken glass and the occasional used needles. -
It didn't take the forum Sherlocks very long to discover who I was - but I did give some hints! Welcome to the team Southerntrekker! Theres two clues already "Southern" and walks a bit. That'll narrow it down a bit .

The basis of geocaching is hiding and finding locations using a GPS. The guidelines repeat this in several locations, eg Page 1 para 1... On the geocaching home page, click 'Guide', right at the top you will see.... Using mapping software is never accurate enough to place a cache, as a reviewer I often see errors of 400 feet or more. There is nothing more fustrating than when cachers make a special journey to find a cache only to have to log a DNF because of poor coordinates. Please, never use mapping software to place a cache. Anyway to adopt a archived cache?
Lindinis replied to Pirate Rock's topic in General geocaching topics
Hi, If you want to adopt archived caches. All you need to do is to copy each cache as a new listing, make any changes necessary (eg your name in place of the previous CO). Then put 'em forward to us reviewers and we'll look at publishing them. Obviously, you don't inherit the previous finders logs, but they then have the chance of finding them all again. All logs are then recorded since you became the owner. If a cache is archived, the location is then free for another cache at or near the old one. -

Well , thanks for all the fun, it's been great watching the speculaion build. In the end there have been around 6 correct guesses / deductions with Keehotte being the first to deduce (FTD). Thanks for all the nice messages, emails, phone calls etc. I'm looking forward to recieving some cracking caches for me to publish for you. Of course, if theres anything you want help with, please ask. If I don't know the answer, I'll pass it on to this great UK reviewers group. Happy caching Ernie B (Lindinis) -

Ohhh errrrr! you might have it!. You've not done any of mine, I've not done any of yours. We have been to some events in common, one had a lot of 10's in the date another (the latest) was hosted by WB&BW. Good luck Lindinis -

Hi Guys, Well, it's better than I expected. This is great fun and yep, the reason for my anonomity is to firstly, keep the training period a bit clearer and the turnover in my inbox down. I promise to come out when either : I get fed up with the anonomity, It becomes obvious who I am, or I loose my sanity. Just an incentive I can disclose there is one local cacher who has twigged my identity, but has promised to keep quiet. A prize of a 35mm film can to the first member who correctly identifys me here and/or sends an email to my normal geocaching account. By the way, my gender may be determined by studying the endings of Latin words. So, good luck and I'll look forward to being of service. Lindinis -

Hi Folks, Let me introduce myself.... I'm Lindinis and so long as I survive my training period, I'll be you new reviewer. For the time being, I've decided to remain anonomous. This is only temporary and will be "coming out" after a month or two (If my cover is blown, there wont be any point). This is just to make my life a bit simpler for this busy period. Good luck. In the meantime Graculus is your man. I'm looking forward to publishing some cracking caches.
