  1. Thanks, that worked! You have to be a bit of a contortionist but it did the trick.
  2. I'm having the same fade to black problem with my 62s. I bought mine from REI last February, used it for about 2 months and it started shutting off after about 20 seconds. I sent it back to Garmin and got a new one two weeks ago. Yesterday the new one started doing the same thing after loading some geocaches (using GSAK). I hooked it up to my laptop, deleted the new files and the problem remains. I submitted a problem report to Garmin, hopefully they will replace this one also. While I'm waiting to hear, does anyone have a suggestion on how to identify a corrupted file that may be causing the problem?
  3. Thanks. I've tried the boot block numerous times. I get different results each time, but no successes. Sometimes the Web Updater doesn't see the device at all. Sometimes it sees it, starts to update for a while, but eventually returns an error message saying that it can't communicate properly with the device. Sometimes the device just shuts off while the Updater is searching for the device.
  4. I started having problems with my 62s this morning. Initially it would just turn on, start loading waypoints and then just shut off. I found a solution on a garmin forum which recommended installing a recovery file. This worked and the unit now powers up correctly. However, I can no longer get my PC to recognize the device. I have re-installed the drivers, tried a new cable and tried a different laptop, all without success. I found a solution which recommends holding the up arrow while plugging the unit into the usb port. When I do this, the usb symbol on the GPS is displayed for a few seconds, then the device powers off. One other thing -- When the device powers on the display shows "Invalid JNX file" with an OK button. If you press OK, the unit seems to go into normal operation(with the exception that you cannot hook it up to the computer). Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
