  1. Nice coin MC. I'll be buying some.

Interesting that both look so much alike in their pattern. Are the puzzle pieces part of a national campaign?

Yes, the colors and puzzle pieces are the Autism symbol. Refleclting the puzzling nature of the spectrum and how different it is for each individual. Also Autistic people are great puzzle solvers. They tend to see the shape of the puzzle rather than the picture on it.

I am very excited about this coin coming out soon at Hogwild Stuff! We were approached to do a coin for Autism Awareness by Chris of "LondonPuzzlers". I was very excited to do this because my Son Bryan is in the autistic spectrum. Autism is a spectrum disorder and ranges from very few abilities with no speech or communication to very educated, intelligent socially impaired people. Bryan has Aspergers syndrome. This is at the top of the spectrum. I can still remember reading a book that described my child perfectly. I cried for the loss of a “quick fix”, I was also relieved that I had come to the end of my diagnosis journey and we could now spend our time helping Bryan and his teachers understand each other. I adore my son, he looks at the world in such a unique way. This world would not be what it is today if not for a few very smart autistics. Every time we get online or use or computers there is one to thank somewhere!

1 in 150 children have autism spectrum disorder. Early child hood diagnosis and education is proving to be a great success.

When this coin is available, $1.00 of every coin will be donated to the Autism Society of America. Once the threshold of 250 coins is met, $2.00 for every coin after will be donated! I hope the Geocaching community can help fund research so that we can better understand this disorder.

Put even more importantly we would love to see everyone place this coin in caches and raise the awareness!

  3. Have fun Dave! We did that last month. There is actually a cache right there in the historical area and several virtuals.

Jamestown is awsesome! They are doing digs there right now and you can watch them sift through and find items. Really, really neat.

  4. Mine is truly a miracle and touch of luck! It was amazing! After 2 dnf's, lost reading glasses a bent walking stick and tying my shoes iin PI. I was able to find it today!!! It just appeared in the container as i opened the lid. I felt so fortunate! Thank you geo-leprechaun!

  5. When I came home there was a package waiting for me and decorated too with paw prints and a dog. ;) I opened it to find an egg carton. :D What is this I asked myself and then read the attached note about dog days of summer and frying eggs on the sidewalk. I opened it up to find a dozen plastic CAMOED eggs. (Now where in the world did you find those?) Each one held a surprise! Here is what I found:

    3 ceramic beads with the letters B E E

A pewter bee and a ceramic bee

    A GW5 chick coin

    GW5 and ammo can pins

    TX Oil Pathtag

    GW5 Wooden Token

Penny with a star cut out of it

And last but not least the handcuffs coin! Cache or Charge I guess the best way to give someone a coin they don't have is to get one that hasn't been released yet! I am truly honored to have it! :D

Thanks so much TXDiva my not so secret mission cacher!! All of the missions I have received have been very creative and this one was no exception. :D I loved it all! :D I wished I could have met you at the Bash--maybe next year!

TxDiva so so creative! BTW, that is a Geowoodstock4 wooden nickel! And her husband designed that cool logo!

Congrats on all the fun things! I look forward to finding those eggs some day!

  6. It is all kinda funky, tho'...I got 32 of mine..I should have gotten 25. And I got a guy coin thrown in (hence my husband's waffling....) I also got a non-etched coin...and the thank you coin has no etching, either - and a brown eye and I say it's GOLD,not copper, PoS.

    B)

Heavens, this has all been interesting.

Steve included one of his guy coins in each package. That is the guy you got. Unless you were Parents of Sam and then you got 50 of Steves guy coins! Whoops! :)

You all don't know this, but Steve did all that packaging and sorting and his daughter is getting married this weekend! It is wonder he was able to get as correct as he did! :)

  7. Did those people who ordered this coin have to pay for it? :)

Refunds were offered and given to all those that wanted them.

Thanks so much for you concern for your fellow cachers. Rest assured that Hogwild Stuff is doing their best to ensure that every chick and prince is as satisfied as the situation allows. We can't fix the disappointed feelings that were felt and that we felt as well. But we are trying to do our best as quickly as we can.

I think that all the Princes and Chicks have been AWESOME!! And we really appreciate the great display of patience and understanding you have all shown. Thank you!

  8. To all the chicks and princes out there. I would like to personally thank you for your kindness and understanding. You have all been absolutley AWESOME!

It was an honor getting to know you all!

  9. If all of you professional artist have that much trouble you can imagine how many times a simple amateur drawing gets worked! :o

That is not near as easy as it was in the beggining of the year.

I actually had art come back with an entire body part missing! LOL! ;)

But then to play devils advocate is a little like the rumor game you played in elementary school. By the time you tell your rep what you want, and they translate into their language then goes to tell the artist who has a reply that she then translates back in to English. ;) It is honestly amazing we so many beautiful and technical coins out there.

  10. I guess we'll be detouring to Clackamas county to find 7 caches on our trip to Coeur D'Alene and back. The Original Stash Cache is on our list so how's a few more gonna hurt? ;)

Actually Canby is also having a contest with a coin being the prize. I believe one of the requirments is the original cache. Good luck!

  11. What are the items you are leaving behind? I see maybe a cell phone over on the right, but what's the yellow boomerang in front of the log, and something lying on the log?

I guess if you all don't know me you would not get some of the details. This picture came out small as well.

I will explain it a bit.

I am a Posion Ivy magnet. Partly because I stand in the stuff while I decide whether it is "the stuff" :o I also have a lot of "caching stripes" and am pretty banged up. So she is full of scratches and bandaids.

So she is not finding a cache and sitting on a log next to some Poison ivy.

Back side it DNF'ing and leaving things behind. Sunglasses, cell phone, pencil, keys, lipstick (which the raccon gets into) I did however bring home a nice rash! I hope that it looks nice and PI'sh with a red translucent.

Mustang Joni had a cache here that was called Mama caches lost and found and was suppose to be the place you brought the things I lost on the trail. I have seriously lost enough sunglasses to fill a sunglass hut kiosk. :(

  12. Well, I have made several coins in the last 6 months but none of them were mine! I decided I needed to have one of my own! The people at Hogwild Stuff were excellent to work with. If I do say so myself!

I like personal coins to be about the who the cacher is. So folks I reluctantly confess that I am a terrible cacher and a loser to boot! This coin best shows my typical caching day.

It was Designed by Mad Hatters Neverland to look like a one shot photo. Samples are in the works. I just wanted to share before I lose the artwork!
