I would have deactivated the cache until I had an opportunity to check on it, but it was still a shock to have it archived without my permission. I noticed this cache was archived by admin. However it took a month and a half. The cache was dissabled temp by the owner between April 12 and 16. It wasn't archived till June 3. Dissabled caches may go on a different list for admin and they give it just so much time before they archive it. If the "this cache should be archived" choice in a log alerts admin and they archive it right away that's something we should all be aware of. Some new Cacher could check this option just because they couldn't find it. Then we would end up e-mailing Jeremy just to get our cahe back up. Preperation, the first law to survival.
  2. Oh ya we're talking about a single blade pocket knife. I really like all the one hand openers. Kershaw Ken Onions. Spyderco. Benchmade. The one I carry the most is a Boker auto opener. Nice shape and feel. I have about a hundred different knives. Each one has it's own style and history. Though I don't think any specific knife is the best. Preperation, the first law to survival.
  3. I hope Jeremy's new search engine lets you omit the caches you never want to visit. Preperation, the first law to survival.
  4. Although I do list the city I live in. I think any of that info should be voluntary. You could certainly ask people to list where they are from when they log their visits to your cache. Then you could make your own pin map showing where people have come from. Preperation, the first law to survival.
  5. I could not get the Word pad version and the microcache stash notes to open before. I used the alternate english one for my hides. Now they seem to be working fine. Don't know why. Preperation, the first law to survival.

    Duration

There are some multi caches that take several days. Leonardos Templates. I don't know if any one wants to do this one. You don't have an option for days! Preperation, the first law to survival.
  7. I've cut and pasted the text on to notepad and wordpad. It works for just the text. However it omits the difficulty stars and the cache type icon. I also knew that you could print B&W only. If you print on a lazer jet it's B&W only and super cheap. The point was conveniance on the site. One click and it strips away all graffics and logs. There can't be that much changes to the html code for these changes. New options are changed and added all the time. This is just one suggestion I would like to see. 8. Some parks are wonderful and vast. I would return to them no matter how many were hidden there. Dissclaimer: This is only an opinion. This is a compillation of experiences with three specific GPSr units. These experiences may or maynot add or detract from the specific capabilities of other units of the same makes or models. 9. I print out the page for the caches I search for on a color ink jet. I think it would be great if the printer friendly page had none of the images on it. Other than the cache type icon and the small map at the bottom of the page. If it's easier to make the page text only, you can right click on the map pic and print it seperatly. 12. quote:Originally posted by bigeddy:If that's the case, it seems odd that a person logging a cache can check "Cache should be archived" which causes it to go away without the owner having a say about it. That's just a new option on your post a log page. It does not archive the cache if you check it. It will show up in the body of your post. Like a suggestion to the owner. Say if you find the area clear cut by loggers. You and four people before you were unable to find the cache, ect... Dissclaimer: This is only an opinion. 17. I don't know how you're going to keep it from being plundered. Maybe if you put it on your private property. Giving permision, in the description, to access the property. Preperation, the first law to survival.
  18. This is a cool container. It's a stump fungus looking thing. It could be made to look like a rock. It's made from an upside down ice cream container. Hardening foam from a can, I'm not sure the name of it. If you describe it at a hardware store they should know what it is. I've seen it used to fill the holes around conduit and pipes. It doesn't matter the color. You paint it with matte latex paint. You can stick twigs moss ferns or gravel on it while it's wet. Let your creative whims loose. Preperation, the first law to survival.
  19. I don't care about your background. Your two little snippits didn't contribute anything to this discussion. You just popped in to heckle others. Why not give your expert opinion to CivilWarRanger, like he asked. If you want to discuss averaging start your own string. Preperation, the first law to survival.
  20. quote: ah some reality, that shouldn't hurt any feelings Cheers, Kerry. I never get lost everybody keeps telling me where to go So Kerry knows where to go. I'll disregard your useless little comments. 66 posts no finds or hides. Hmm your alter ego? So you can make all the inflammitory comments you like without anyone knowing who you are. The original post was asking for comparisons on the three GPSr listed. I have two of them. I've had the GM100 for three years now. Now if you've ever used a GPSr, you should now that anything less than half or two thirds of sattilite signal is not a lock. The GM100 will loose it's lock when one of the last three sat sig drop below half. Leaving you standing there stairing at a blinking screen. Usually till you get four sat sig back. Which could be several minutes later. The M330 and Meridian on the other hand, don't leave you hanging. Even when you drop down two two sattilites with random ones spiking up and dropping off you still get a reading. The GM100 will just blink at you. I did say that the GM100 would be good on a boat. Just not under cover. It's a shame MajBach can't take advantage of WAAS. For those who can why not take that into consideration when buying? Are you implying that if Canadians don't recieve WAAS that no one should consider it when purchasing a GPSr? CivilWarRanger sounds American to me. This poor guys comparison question has turned into a GM100 debate. Just have fun. Preperation, the first law to survival.

  22. Now that's a question I have is there any problems using XP and MS Topo? I don't have Topo yet it's on order. I have XP on the computer I want to install it on. Are there any issues with XP? Preperation, the first law to survival.
  23. I know I feel pretty slow when I over think things. There's no reason you need to know all that stuff about GPS units. Unless you want to. Go down to a store or pawn shop and pick up a basic GPS. No frills needed. Every one of them work for Geo caching. You don't need maps, because when you get to the location you go by the coordinates screen anyway. The info on the cache web page and a map should get you to the area of the cache. Then you use the coordinates and some searching skills from there. Just have fun. Preperation, the first law to survival.
  24. Magellon makes the most conveniant software to GPS interface. However you can only use their software. I understand Garmin and Lawrence can use aftermarket software. But who wants to use Garmin or Lawrence. Preperation, the first law to survival.
