  1. Current tools on the site will not allow for such a search. I have long advocated an expansion of Pocket Query criteria to include such things as keyword search and include/exclude by a list of accounts.
  2. A little off topic, but where do you go to see someone else's map location? I know I generally look around their most recent finds. Or hides.....
  3. As a general rule designated wilderness areas controlled by BLM, National Forests or other federal agencies in any US state have been off limits without rather explicit federal permissions for a long time now. True here in Nebraska, South Dakota & Wyoming in areas I cache and have placed caches.
  4. I can tell you though that the knock-off ones are no match for the real thing - Maxpedition makes a high quality product that they stand behind. The generic one I got literal started wearing hard along several seams within 2 months.
  5. Just can't go wrong with a good unit like the eTrex 20 or 30. Lots of features for lots of outdoor situations. Just be sure to upgrade it to the latest firmware
  6. Obviously do your best to put it back but don't compromise the hide in doing so. If you got it - figure out how to put it back or leave it alone in the first place. If you just can't and if possible - hide it well as close as possible to where you found it and alert the owner to the issue(s). In some rare instances (destroyed or damaged location) - you may have to take the cache container with you - obviously contact the owner and be prepared to take care of the issue once you receive instructions.
  7. Stolen is quite harsh. One of my TBs was picked up by an elderly Gentleman that died a few weeks later. His widow actually offered to mail it back to me when I asked via email about it. I was embarrassed and I have stopped contacting cachers about my TBs they picked up. I once found a TB I dropped in my Jeep in the spare tire area - I never logged it as retrieved and after some searching figured I picked it up about 5 years before. Not sure what you mean by 'private' cache but I doubt that would change anything.
  8. I use a Maxpedition versipack Jumbo - easy access without removing it from myself. There are similar generics out there
  9. You can try google earth or google maps but use it only as a sanity check - trust your GPS readings. Online maps have a published accuracy in the range of +/- 50 feet or much more. Some areas are as much as 200 foot off in imagery around me.
  10. I go find caches that look like fun to me and I keep caching as long as I am having fun and have more time. Sometimes that is a pace of 4 to 6 an hour, sometimes 1 an hour.
  11. I had a similar note (nearly identical) in late 2007. Led to a discussion at the statewide Geocaching group and we all generally agreed that was right to have t1 caches fit a totally wheelchair bound cacher. I've actually been surprised that it hasn't been formally mentioned in the guidelines.
  12. .....of course you actually mean that you "trade" it out of the cache for something else and then throw it away.

  14. Plug your Oregon 300 onto a USB cable then open Windows Explorer. You should be able to see it as an external drive, like if you plugged in a thumb drive. Copy the two GPX files to the [Garmin_Drive]\Garmin\GPX folder. Note that the extra file contains the additional waypoints, (parking, trail head, etc), for the caches in the bigger file. They do it that way so that those that are not interested in the additional waypoint can simply not copy it to their device. This one. drop the unzipped GPX file in that folder - unhook and go caching.
  15. Really depends on the GPS device - whatcha got??
  16. I've had several similar requests over the years - never heeded any of them. I just move the TB along.
  17. Often folks will add a bunch of pictures of the TB at various spots and upload all of them when the TB gets dropped off at the next cache.
  18. I have never in 11+ years seen any evidence anywhere I have travelled that caches were placed strategically or otherwise with the singular goal of blocking "new" cachers from putting out a cache. Nor could I even imagine a good reason for doing so. Some cachers put a lot of caches out in a small area but not to prevent new cachers from getting one out.
  19. Wow. Interesting to know. Do you kow about how many there were at the peak? No - but there were 4 of the 95 of us sitting together that day.
  20. you cursed me - just got a DNF and missing container log on my cache --- sigh....
  21. Welcome aboard!!! Lets start with - Where did you find this? Was it in a container of sorts?
  22. you will - send an email to contact@geocaching.com if they don't show up in a day or 2. From the Help Center:
  23. ummmmm - my town has about 1300 souls. 20 caches would dominate but 1 mile later there would be plenty of room.
  24. 11+ years and counting for mine. Jail Rock Nebraska Its got the original ammobox and remains a local favorite. My best description of it comes from this log:
