  1. NOTE: I have never used the Oregon in the field, and as an owner of the 62s I will be bias... Now, I did exactly what Matt suggested above. I went in to a shop that had both in stock. To me the buttons and the menus of the 62s was easier to use but that was not the main deciding factor for me... And I know this isn't scientific in any way shape or form but... Holding them both at the same time, to me as a mechanical engineer, the 62s felt like it would survive for years thrown in a toolbox in the back of my pickup. The Oregon just didn't feel as rugged. That was why I walked home with the 62s and I haven't looked back since.
  2. Yes I did see that one, will investigate it later on tonight. Thanks for the tip.
  3. Matt, That sounds like great fun and we are only down the road from Finchampstead... So if nobody else contacted you, just send us a message. The Viking Pack.
  4. Worse, finding that the tree with the cache in has been used as a toilet with human excrement and tissues all around it. Even worse, my dog then tries to roll in it to get the smell...
  5. + When your dogs are happy just relaxing by your feet and no longer get excited when you grab their leads...
  6. Can we take a step back? When is a Muggle a Muggle? If the Muggle is a hiker with a GPSr, why not convert the Muggle in to a Geocaching friend by fully introducing her to the sport?
  7. Your GPSr when plugged in to a computer will/can be just another portable hard drive, like a memory stick. Personally I'm now running a Garmin GPSMAP 62s and use a Mac to load the .gpx files on to it. Dead simple, I just drag and drop the files on to the GPSr as I would on to a memory stick. The Garmin then get all the info about the caches, positions, descriptions, hints and even previous logs. Whichever way you go, enjoy yourself!
  8. My first post on these forums so please be gentle... This was taken earlier today, I was going to say "guess by which cache" but then I realised you only have to look at my log to find out.
