  1. Guilty, I am the one who didn't know how to log it. Thus, this post. But now I know, and have done the deed. Thanks for everyone's help.
  2. I found this geocoin last May in a cache called "Coastie's Delight". The intstructions indicated that the coin could be logged in at www.cogeo.org, however this is no longer an active website. The coin itself is copper colored. On one side it has a map of Oregon with a tree and a flag marking, possibly the firest geocaching site with a label that reads "GC1". This side of the coin is titled "Birthplace of Geocaching - Oregon". The coin number is "0292". On the reverse side is the Geocaching.com logo with the title "You are the search engine" and the year "2003". It also says "used with permission from Groundspeak". Does anyone have any details about this vintage of coin, or how it could be tracked and moved on. I've tried to look for a trackable using "GC1292" and "GC10292" and "292" and "0292". Thanks, Stillwaters
  3. Good advice Meckers! Does anybody know of a down side to doing the upgrade?
  4. I received an Explorist 210 for Christmas and am still learning all of the ins and outs and quirks. I have 2 questions regarding the latest 210 firmware upgrade. I've seen several posts that touch on the topic, but it's difficult to pull them all together to make a thoughtful decision. Thus, this post. 1. First of all, is it possible to upgrade a North American unit with the EU update (i.e v 3.2.53). 2. If possible, is it recommended? What would be the benefit? Are there any special considerations?
  5. Needs another bump as we close in on the New Year!
  6. My goal for 2007 is to get my finds per day up to 1.0. I've been caching since June,2005 and have 304 finds, which is currently about 0.5 per day. Meeting my goal would put me within reach of 1000.
  7. An Explorist 210.Love the unit, but the owner's manual is lacking.
  8. Got an Explorist 210 bundle, including MapSend for Christmas. From what I've seen, I'm really going to like this handheld, but, I am clueless about how to get the Map Send maps loaded. Most likely this will also be a problem for downloading waypoints. My problem is that Magellan Conversion Manager V1.08 does not find the Explorist. Based on other advice in the logs, I am now connecting the USB Cable in a downward fashion. I then connect the cable and power up the GPSr. This does allow for the USB device to be recognized. I have confirmed that it is set up as Drive K:. The GPSr is in File Transfer Mode. Still, when I try to download the maps, I am told the unit is not there. I'm thinking the problem may be that I need to download the latest firmware V3.2.53, but I'm a little reluctant without the assurance that is what I need to do. Will this solve the recogition problem? Also, should I be downloading the US or the EU version. From what I've seen in other posts, it seems the EU version is pretty cool; but I'm not sure it is compatible with my handheld, which was bought in Oregon.
  9. I am having a similar problem with the Explorist 210, trying to upload the Map Send maps. I plug in the USB cable supplied with the bundle, turn on the Explorist 210 and get a "USB Device Not Recognized" message. This is frustrating!
  10. Looks like I'm older than average at 53, but still far away from being the oldest. MomH is 46. Lil Cacher checks in at 9, but started when he was 7.
  11. I'm looking at the Explorist 210 also, but am a little concerned about the two entries that identified problems with the rubber wearing off on the joystick. How did you folks deal with this. Did it render the GPS unusable, or do you just learn to live with it?
