  1. Ive had a reply to my support request. Not long after I started geocaching a very kind reviewer notified me that he had given me a 1 month trial of premium membership. At the end of the trial period I was not in a position to purchase a full years premium membership (bills, xmas etc) so my membership dropped back down to basic member, until a few weeks ago where I was then able to purchase a 12 month premium membership. The reply to my support request has told me that the retrospective awarding of favorites points can only occur the first time your account is upgraded from basic to premium member. So even though this only happened for 1 month as a trial period that was enough it seems to mean that I can not now claim the 11 points I should have accumulated between that trial membership and the purchase of the full years membership some weeks ago. Given the Groundspeak document linked to in my first post in this thread mentions absolutely nothing about this policy only existing the first time an account is upgraded I feel that it is unfair and that the points should be awarded. I have responded to the email sent to me to explain that my first premium membership was a trial and was initiated without my knowledge (I simply received a message from a reviewer to tell my that my account had been upgraded for a month) and to ask for the decision to be reconsidered. I have also stated that the Groundspeak document should clearly inform the geocacher that retrospective points can only be awarded on the first account upgrade. I will keep you informed of any further response.
  2. I know its an unknown quantity at the moment but are challenge caches likely to only be US based to start with?
  3. Hi all, Im just wondering how long it takes to get support replies from Geocaching? I sent a message a few days ago and all I have had so far is an automated response. Here is my issue. I have 224 unique finds so far, none of them are my own hides either. I have 'spent' 9 favourites and have 2 left to use, meaning a total of 11. Yet Geocachings documents say that I should have been awarded 1 favourite for every 10 unique finds. Then I thought that it was because some of the finds were while I was a basic member, but I found this and more secifically this So I sent the message to ask what has happened, and can the issue be rectified as by my calculation I should currently have a total of 22 favorites with 13 still to spend. Has anyone else come across this issue? I did try a search but the posts that came up were completely random.

  5. Ah, thank you. Thats great. So the 3rd is puzzle rather than multi. I have noted that down so I dont forget. Thanks again.
  6. I have an idea for a multi that involves finding 2 caches in 2 locations to get the combined coords for a 3rd cache; something like North coords in 1 cache, West coords in another cache. Simple enough so far. But can I make each of those 2 caches with the coords in traditionals in their own right? Can they be logged as finds themselves or can they only be part of the bigger multistage cache? Cheers in advance.
  7. And still no support for the Windows Mobile 6.5 market. Its only been out what, 3 years? Yet again another dadgum company that isnt willing to create an app for the WM6 market. But I understand Groundspeak kick up a right old stink when the amateur community comes up with one. Typical.
  8. Keep with it, it is worth it in the end. I had real trouble finding my first cache. I went back to it 3 times. I was sure I had looked everywhere. In the end, after an extra hint from the CO it turned out I literally HAD been standing on top of it on the 3 occasions I had gone to look for it. I only have 6 finds up to now, but its getting easier each time to find.
  9. AT&T Park - San Francisco Cache = In the Land of Giants DING!! 2010 World Series Champions!! WooHoo Sorry, will crawl back into my box now
  10. Thats what I have been using, and its a great app. But it would be nice for companies to support WinMo like they have been for Apple and Android. Afterall WinMo has been around a hell of a lot longer. Its not just Geocaching, there are tons of companies that release apps for Apple and Android who completely ignore the WinMo market. And thats not good when you still have 16 months left on a contract with your WinMo device. Thankfully the people on XDADEV get stuff sorted when we dont get the proper apps.
  11. Why hasnt there been a version of the program for Windows Mobile 6.5? The code has only been around for 7 1/2 years!!
  12. Hi Unicacher2. Who is Unicacher1 I wonder. Im one of the newer ones around here aswell, but thought I would still say Hi.
  13. HTC devices in general are much overlooked in the iPhone era. I have had HTC phones since 2003, all Windows Mobile models, and wouldnt swap them for anything. My only complaint of late is the lack of support from major companies who release apps for iPhone and Android but neglect the Windows market...not mentioning any names in particular..........
  14. Without intending any pun it could be sent recorded delivery to it can be traced. The sender will have the trace number, but the recieving address still doesnt have to have the senders address. And given that the sender has had the TB for quite a while I dont think its too much to ask to pay the little extra for the trackable service.
  15. By the look of it you will need to upload the photo to somthing like Flikr or Photobucket and then link the URL to there.
  16. Thank you all. And thanks for the advice. The one about moving on is very good. We spent about an hour yesterday looking for one, but with no joy, so we decided to leave it and try another one. The 'nother one turned out to be the first find.
  17. If it helps Im seeing lots of FINDSTATGEN stuff on your profile.
  18. After a couple (3) of DNF's I got my first find today Took the wife and kids along, they enjoyed it. So much so that me and the boy are going out again tomorrow while the girlies have a pamper day. Cant wait to see what we find tomorrow. Cant believe how addictive it is!!
  19. Couldnt hold out till Monday so we tried today. DNF'd at Seacombe Ferry again after a hour of searching and think we were right there. Gave up and took off to The Arno where we logged our first find!!!! We walked along straight past it at first and had to use the hint to find it, but find it we did. First of many I hope. Oh yeah, the kids are addicted now!!
  20. Yes, it was the LQ Merseyside one, and was muggled at Seacombe Ferry. As far as setting caches, I have been reading peoples thoughts on new caches, looked at the amount on the Wirral already, and I have decided that its going to be at least 250 finds before I even consider owning any caches myself. Besides that I think Im going to be having too much fun searching for all the existing caches to have the time to set and look after my own.
  21. Thanks so much to everyone for the kind welcomes. Ive told the kids we have SOMETHING planned for the half term and one of them keeps trying to guess what it is. So far we have told him It begins with G There are more than 500 on Wirral There are more than a million in the world Its outdoors We dont have to stop doing it Its free (well mainly) So far he has guessed Golf Go-Karting Bowling ?!? Baseball?!? I have no idea how the last 2 begin with G haha. But I know that the one asking the questions is going to love it, he is just that type of kid. How very dare you lol Thats a subject for a whole other forum haha. Thanks to gushoneybun and HazelS for first cache suggestions. I saw the Ben Ten set while I was looking around the site before signing up and thought they could be quite interesting. With a week to entertain the kids Im sure we will have plenty of time to search them out. HazelS, cant believe you have a cache outside your house You must really enjoy meeting new cachers Im sure we will give yours a try in the next week aswell. As I said in my first post I have tried a couple aswell, but there were people, or muggles as I am coming to know them' at the site of the first one I tried and the second confused me as the clue mentioned a gate and short fence, but there were 2 gates each with a short fence lol, and I ran out of time aswell as it was on the way to pick up Mrs. Essterol from work. No doubt I will revisit them this week with the family Essterol and hopefully be more successful. Thanks to Original A1 for the advice aswell. Im guessing this is born out of personal experience...
  22. Hi there everyone. The names Paul, and Im a noob geocacher based in Wirral. I had heard the term Geocacher a few times, but never knew what it meant. Then a few days ago I was on a software site for my phone and came across some geocaching software so looked into it. The whole concept looked real interesting so I ended up here, registered, and tried (and failed) my first 2 trips out there. But it was fun, I really enjoyed it, so much so that I told the wife about it as something to try when the kids are on half-term from school next week. She loved the idea aswell. So next week we are off to see what we can find around the Wirral Peninsula. Want to start off with something nice and easy to see if the kids enjoy it before trying anything a little more challenging. I was thinking maybe of some of the Bidston Hill ones as there seem to be a few on there and its a great area to be, even if a little cold in this weather. Anyway, thats enough from me for now. Just wanted to say Hi, without just saying Hi
