  1. Jeremy himself uses twitter. Isn't he a friend of yours yet? P.S. I think that's why he came up with the My Friends feature last year. It probably was about a day after he joined a site and said, why not do this on geocaching.com? And was probably the genesis of coord.info to make URL's tiny.
  2. People have to be logged in in order to see the maps that do exist such as http://www.geocaching.com/track/map_gm.aspx?ID=216353 you could also change that id=gobbledygook (you have to look up your bugs number) to tracker=TBN1Y2 with the reference number/name for your bug. If you are not so concerned about freshness of the map, you could capture the image and post it on a web page of your own as an image.
  3. Me too. And in the event that I can't find a library with internet access, or a WiFi access point, then my LapTop with GSAK that has some 'not so fresh' databases that cover every state and province that are within 4 hours drive in any direction will have to do. It only takes about a week to build up such an Groundspeak un-supported offline database.
  4. Nothing beats the always up-to-date database that already exists. But then again, I'm not an electron or other quantum particle with the ability to be in many, different places at the same time.
  5. Please be sure to make sure that Premium Members caches DO NOT show up on Any map when the user looking at the map IS NOT a Premium Member. I think that's how it is now anyway.
  6. Then perhaps 'add' a new province/state to all those that are too big, and call it 'catch-all' for those caches that are not in Massachusetts, and not in New Hampshire and not in New York... I.E. Those caches that 'somehow' are not within a state/province of the country selected. There were something like 40,000 in the UK that are not listed. Perhaps just display a statement to the effect, the 'region' you selected has 123,456 caches and that is just too many to display, perform some other kind of search.
  7. Looks like you might be missing a ? perhaps it's changed again from .asp to .aspx to .who knows what now.
  8. Related to http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=206473 Somewhere around that timeframe you, or someone else at Groundspeak, made the "all regions" ability available to some, but not all 15, of the Countries where it could have been placed. Forgive my calling it "all regions" I'm not sure just what it was called and I'll try to find that particular message where someone at your end was confused by the request, even after it was 'fixed'. Not quite this one either, but perhaps one of the ones linked to in this one: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=203936
  9. You once were as I once was. So forever the 'Group:' will say Premium Member, but look up one line just below your Avatar, if that didn't say Geocacher, then you would be known as a Premium Member, nobody ever gets those 2 things confused, LOL. P.S. OpinioNate. Is there a reason that the upgrade membership page, and the Membership page when one is not logged in does not have Any of the the links that ALL the other geocaching.com pages have on the right hand side? I remember commenting on this last year about 9 months ago. Should have been 'born' in the many updates since I first mentiuoned it.
  10. I thought that Google intentionally dithered the data by at least a few meters. The answer is NO, if you are planning on placing a cache using that. The 'rules'
  11. I must have missed that, can you post a link to that announcement?
  12. I've had my Magellan Meridian Gold for over 4 years. I love it. It has never had a problem that others tell me happens alot with them. It did lose WAAS as did many peoples GPSr in July 07, but I spent the last year fixing that problem. See the link in my signature below for that. You must be having a really bad round of very bad luck. But yes, Maggie customer support is awful and that may contribute to your distaste witht them.
  13. WOW. Sesame Streets Big Bird on steroids? Perhaps dinosaur footprints, but for a 747 sized bird. Personally I love the 1 mile+++ alien mothership landing pad in Florida near N 26° 53.362 W 082° 16.558
  14. If someone electronically put the bug into the wrong cache that you physically picked it up from you would 'Grab it', and then perhaps fix the places it's been so that the miles would be right.
  15. You do what you are good at. Or you steal, er, ah, I mean borrow, someone elses idea. Now if that was unique enough then perhaps ask for permission first. Oh, 9Key, thanks for that link, I've been looking for that for over a year.
  16. Well, If you are concerned about your battery life, and do not have any spares on you, then use the power cord while driving. You won't be draining your batteries any until you unplug. And of course, everyone in their right minds has some spare sets of rechargable, and non-rechargable batteries on them, and has an automobile NiMh recharger too, and an automobile power splitter so one can charge batteries, and charge Cell Phone, and use their GPS, and use their Laptop all at the same time.
  17. Very nice. I'd like that. Now since you are asking for new extensions to the GPX format, then how about an attricute to signify that a cache is a Premiumk Members only cache? And since you mentioned a web page feature, then how about doing the same summary for Travel bugs. I mean, how many retrieved it logs, how many grabbed it logs, how many placed logs, how many note logs... I had asked for this a LOOONG time ago, ever since that feature was added for cache pages. Well my searching has only found an 11 month old request, not the 19 months that would be right when that cache page feature was added. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=184785
  18. I list a 'key' like that on a geocoin of mine. Along with other caches that require you to find other things first. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=tb1htxa
  19. Also check to see that geocaching.com and Groundspeak.com didn't get into your banned sender category. I'd add them to my allowed senders category. Read http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3662187
  20. Even the old Garmin 12, which was not a mapping unit, but had a map "for relative locating of your waypoints and your position" one could Pan and Zoom from a foot to about 12 thousand miles.
  21. Many years ago I asked exactly the same thing. One then could see how clueless some people were when they were new with DNF's and so on.
  22. Talk to Garmin. I think they just invented something called Lane Assist to be part of their expensive mapping software. But I don't think they will tell anyone how to do it on their own with the various free map making software packages out there.
  23. If "you don't know that there is a ban in a particular place", then "you did not get permission to place a cache in that place, and didn't really read the agreement you signed". Read the rules on the creat a cache page, read them again. Don't attempt to get a cache publ;ished until you have.
  24. If that feature were available, about half the GPS's in the world would have to be returned to Garmin due to people using regular Alkaline batteries in their GPSr and them exploding due to trying to charge them inthe unit. And sure, about half of those people would probably have told the GPSr just what kind of battery is in the unit by using a menu, but automobile power cords are not smart plugs, and can't tell what mode a GPSr is in. If that were the case then you would have to pay more than $100 for a cable, who's going to do that?
  25. If you mean "Forum Title:" then you have to be a Premium Member to change that in your profile. But you know, I don't see that written in the 'benefits of membership' page anymore. Did that change? Can I be a Platinum Member if I want?
