  1. I'm not fond of the smilies. I don't know which cache is which. I pulled up something out along I-95. I see a bunch of smilies for those I've found. Those I haven't found as of yet are just the usual cache with the green lid. I can't tell which cache is which without clicking on them. :D I liked it much better with the listing of caches on the right being numbered, and the caches showing on the map had a number on them. I knew that caches three and seven were right by each other. Now I can't see that. :D Bummer when I'm out driving and looking at the map!

  2. This is the first I've run into a Google map when I click on Geocaching.com maps. Is there a way to bring up the type we had previously? I've never been a fan of Google's maps. I like my map to look like a map! Don't care for it being "artsy" for lack of a better word. These look like a kid drew them. Anyone know what map we had previously and how to access?

    Thanks!

  3. You think THAT'S bad, there's one around here with only a picture that is all white. nothing else.

There is one that is white in what looks to be a picture frame hanging on the wall. On my computer monitor at home, all I can see is total white inside the frame, nothing else. On my monitor at work I was able to see what is very faint! :) What's up with that?

  4. Snakes are my biggest worry. And with all the caches hidden in reclining trees, :( I pretty much stand ON the downed tree and poke around with my stick. The entire time I think...perfect place for snakes! :( The other that will keep me far away are bears. ;) We've gone caching down at a swamp twice. Once just us walking. The other, on bikes with a group. Not looking to go other places with bears, bobcats, etc., etc., etc. :(

Oh! I started using a hiking stick way back in the beginning. It's just a good stick I came across in the woods. Actually, this is my second. The first was so worn down on the end that I was dropping it since it became too short. Any way, back in the beginning a fellow cacher mentioned using a stick. He said it would be good in case I needed to pick up a snake and throw it somewhere else! :(;)

  5. Eyeglasses! In the woods and a bee landed on my face. Somewhere between the bee moving to my forhead and us running for the car, the glasses disappeared. :( Once in the car I asked my son if he knew where my glasses were...nope! :(

Earlier this week I picked up a back-up pair from the optician. :(

  6. I will keep the mystery caches. I do like those, and they're probably my second favorite...after Earthcaches. However, I can do without multis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In most cases, they don't tell you how many stages you're looking for. Then when I find stage one, then can't find stage two, and wonder how many stages there actually are to this thing, I pretty much give up on them. Who wants to return to try and find the unlocated stage again? :( LOL! More torture. No thank you!

    :(

  7. If pages are skipped in a log book, I still look for the most recent post in the back and sign after that. If a book is pretty full, I'll look for space within and post it in my log that I signed between this cacher and that cacher who were there on x date. :(

On the other hand, I've had people post on at least one or two occasions that the logs in two of my caches were getting full and needed replacing. When I've gone out there to replace the logs, I find that the first side is full. Do people not like signing the back sides? :( So now I wait until more than one person has mentioned that a log is full.

  8. Any reason why Earthcaches don't appear when we're on a cache page and then click on "Geocacing.com Maps" to see what's in the area of a cache? I don't always think to go to the Earthcache web site and run down the list seeing what might be in an area, and that's rather timely. Any way to get the Earthcaches to show up? IE, I was looking at a new Earthcache's page. I clicked on the maps to see what other caches are in the area. There are two regular caches nearby, but the Earthcache does not show up as one near them.

    Thanks!

  9. Earthcaches are my favorite. Up to 9 at this point. Not a whole lot, but they are pretty scattered. Anyone know the reasoning why we can't log TBs in? Just curious. Would be nice to log my favorites!! :)

Because there is no physical container at an Earthcache.

    Thanks!

  10. First time I ran into anything like this was when I took a bug from a cache and someone e-mailed me that they "grabbed" it from me, and I had to grab it back. This was before "Discovered" was an option. Never dawned on me to do such a thing. LOL!

I have discovered bugs myself since that has become available. But if the discovered bugs were to disappear from our counts one day, it wouldn't bother me. I still prefer to actually find and move bugs.

  11. I'm thrilled to see this TB come out! Our family (and a number of friends' families) are affected by this terrible disease. We're looking forward to moving these bugs around! Anyone else?

Oops! Never mind. I searched to see if there was a thread all ready on this topic, but I missed it somehow. Forget this one!

  12. I'm glad to see GC.com participate in this! As one with too many family members and friends with this disease, raising the awareness of geocachers can only be a good thing. And with absolutely NEEDING exercise to get and keep this disease under control, Geocaching is a perfect way to get the exercise in! My oldest sister died at the age of 36 from renal failure due to diabetes. A cure is long overdue in my book.

For those who don't support GC.com's participation with this, you can just leave the TBs in caches for those of us that support them to move along. Simple. Oh! And let's not forget the wonderful Kettle Cache for the Salvation Army which GC.com supported in the past. I hope they keep supporting organizations' causes such as these.

  13. ACK! How annoying! I have two TBs out there. One is moving slowly, which is fine. The other was picked up in mid-JULY and is still in that person's hands! They apparently have two other bugs also. If I remember correctly, they joined the site in July. Picked up my bug, and haven't been back to the site since September I think. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Why take a bug if you're not going to move it along quickly? If someone wanted to keep the thing, I would think they wouldn't log it at all. So I'm thinking that's not the case. No great bug here...it's attached to a key chain. :D
