  1. Another example...the FSM coin...they only made 250 to begin with but were people whining about a remint on those? Nope.

This is different. FSM said he didnt know if he would remint or not. He was on the fence. If you look back, I asked for clarification from FSM as well as others and after a couple of days, he came out and let us all know the status.

I can see why people are confused with this coin. Here is what I see when I go through the thread:

    First Post:

There is also an Antique Copper Artist Edition.

A total of 300 were minted:

    30 Antique Copper

    135 Antique Gold

    135 Antique Nickel

They are going fast... very fast.

Under 50 total left, and less than 10 golds.

    Just a handful left...

Thanks to everyone who purchased. Im really glad you all loved the coin!

    WOW! SOLD OUT! ! ! !

All orders will ship tomorrow AM.

Thanks to everyone for a great sale!

So, when people see numbers in post 1 and when you get to post 36 saying all sold out, I can see how people get confused. Of course, I dont think Paula and Jim had that in mind at all and when they saw the demand for these, thought they were doing the collectors/buyers a favor.

  2. Ok, this is a 'reverse' request. I am looking for some Activated Geocoins people have that they want to get rid of. I would like to buy 20 of them at $5 each, $100 Total. These will be tagged for Travel

So if you have some coins that are activated and want to get rid of, email me. Here are the requirements:

    1) Must be Trackable on Geocaching.com

    2) Must be undamaged (no holes)

    3) You must OWN them and be willing to adopt them over to me.

    4) Must be at least 1.5"

Why you ask? I want to get some more different types of coins out there in caches under my profile.

If you have any questions, email me.

I can paypal you the $. Remember, that is $5/coin to get it to me. I know this doesnt work for those wanting $10 for activated coins but my goal here is to get them into caches.

    Thanks!

  3. We were attending an early morning event before leaving on a road trip (which we just got back from) and heard that The Geocoin Fairy had posted an Attended log on the event. We went hunting around the area and came up with #58 in an illuminated spot just outside the event. Thanks Geocoin Fairy for getting up early and seeing us off, and for the wonderful geocoin!

Congrats Marky! Glad you are back safe from your road trip.

  4. I know when I started, seeing a Geocoin in a cache was very rare. That was just over 2 years ago.

    ...

For example, firetruckflyer puts in a coin at all caches he can. Of course, he logs his caches a little later to avoid having people follow him and take all the coins!

I think I like firetruckflyer's idea, except maybe you don't log the coin at all until it's been discovered. What if finding a trackable coin in a cache was a bonus and not the objective? I persoanlly get a greater satisfaction from finding a coin or TB in a cache where I wasn't expecting one than nabbing one I set out for from a listing. After all, if you're only going after a geocache for the coin then you're "geocoining", not geocaching, aren't you?

To be clear, I was talking about Personal/Non-Trackable Geocoins.

Today, I seem to see more and more of them. If you are interested, look at my profile, 90% of those listed have been found in caches and moved (not discovered). I also have put out a bunch myself, not including non-trackable sig items.

As for marking them missing, both the cache owner and the coin owner can mark them missing.

    ding ding ding.

LOL - you ain't alone tsun - I didn;' know that either.

    Congrats lindsychris!

I would have thought more people had known. I mean, he has a personal cache only Geocoin. Isnt it on the Geocoin Collecting site yet?

But it was more fun making guesses than just hurry up and end the game. Oh well. Next??

    hmmmm. Another one!

the problem is, I am beat from our event today. It was great, lots of cool people (even some from the forums).
