  1. Pulling things out of caches to keep for yourself is one thing (depending on many factors), but taking them with the intent of selling and/or profit is quite another. What a sad statement.

What about the last Moun10Bike coin which went for over 1k?

  2. We have a coin almost identical to this on the Geocoinclub concept survey.

As long as he didnt come up with the idea after seeing yours, I see no problem with him doing the coin. There are a couple of coins I have seen put out which I said to myself, 'I was thinking of something along those lines' but since someone else put it out, didnt persue it.

Of course, maybe people should just make the Geocoins, have them come in, and post them. That way, people wont 'argue' over artwork.

  3. Okay, here's the deal, since I'm sick of shipping these darn coins already, for you lovely cachers subscribed to this discussion, if you e-mail and use your sweetest e-manners, I'll send you the very special link where you can actually buy the San Diego coin. In advance, please DO NOT SHARE this link. I don't think I could handle a deluge of orders especially since our supply is dwindling. I don't want to wake up tomorrow morning and have to send money back 'cause we over sold coins.

In addition, we will have a public release of the remaining coins on eBay within the next week. I'm shooting for Saturday. I will release the exact date and time in this forum in the next couple of days.

'Til then, I will be manning my e-mail. And I'd just like to say, I think we've done a great job with this coin. The people for whom it was made got first dibs and we didn't draw out sales for weeks before we hand it in hand. In most cases, you'll have your coins in your hot little hands within 5 days of payment. And I won't apologize for making a little profit, someone has to pay for PassingWind's geocoin addition.

I think people are just trying to understand or know when the coins will be available to the public. There are coins out there, like the Bay Area coins, which only sold to members. So there wont be an open sale to the public. Maybe a simple, these are only available to those in the San Diego area would have stop the questions.

And yes, tracking orders, sorting, packing, shipping, etc all takes time. It is easier to send 100 coins to a group than 100 coins to 100 different people.

If I am out bid, I will contact you.

    Thanks.

  4. I am a group of 1, does that count .

I guess people on this board can stop giving Kirkland Geocoin a hard time about Ebay since the practice seems to be so prevalent.

    225 items found for geocoin*

and for the past 3 weeks:

    757 items found for geocoin*

Almost 1000 Geocoin listings in three weeks on ebay.

  5. Hi All.

Just to update you, it seems there was a power outage (breaker trip) where we host the oakcoins.com server. As such, we are working to get it back up.

I will post once it is up and running.

    Sorry for the delay.

  6. I was under the impression that the Seven Summits coins were to have a unique icon? Anyone know what happened?

    I do .

We sent our new Icon over to Groundspeak to have them add it. It was supposed be added on Friday.

Hopefully it will be complete on Monday.

    Thanks!

  7. I´m very happy that they do NOT make international shippment. :D

So I must learn from this nice order, when I will make my own coin.

    No shipmment to North Carolina!

    regards Marc

We asked David if we could pick up a few and put them on our site www.geoswag.com for the same price of $9.00 each.

This should help the International Orders. Our standard S&H rates apply.

For those that want to be notified when we have them in-hand and ready to ship, please send an email to 'sales (at) geoswag . com' with the subject of "NC INT Geocoin"

Once we have them in-hand and ready to ship, we will send an email out, in the order we get them.

    Thanks.

    I hope this helps.

  8. I got in for 2 gold and 3 bronze. As I'm in the UK I requested a total as I wasn't sure what postage to add.

Turns out the 'add $4 for international orders' is per coin not per order. So now I have to pay $20 for shipping 5 coins. It doesn't say it's per coin in the description.

I think this is way out of order, especially since you lucky folks in the US have saved by combining shipping.

I know International orders take a bit more admin, like filling in the customs form etc, but $4 per coin is just greedy. It's not like my 5 coins have to be sent in 5 different envelopes.

Sorry this seems like a rant, but many people who live in Europe have been getting upset lately about the fact that we are charged way more for shipping than is reasonable. In some cases we have had to pay more for the coins too, as well as extra on the shipping.

    T

For us, we found the best thing to do is just have International Orders add an extra $5.00 per order. That covers our cost, except when they have been returned for wrong address and we had to resend them.

    Couple of points:

For US orders, we can print out labels, stamps and drop them in the nearest post box.

For Int Orders, We have to fill out the customs forms, take them to the post, wait in line and have them log each one in their computers.

There is a lot more work to do Int orders.

I dont think anyone has S&H down pat yet (here for Geocoins) but I think it is getting better.

  9. The fees alone are going to make coins too pricey... extra 60 cents minimum in the price per coin is for ebay and that's if no special features are used like gallery, bold, etc.

    I just did the math.

All the ebay fees (no fancy gallery and extra stuff just a simple dutch auction) on the LE of 100 coins should be $0.58 per coin. On the 300 Standard coins it should be $0.47 per coin.

Because the insertion fee is capped at $4.80 on a dutch auction the fees per coin will vary slightly based on the number of coins sold.

so you included everything including closing fees? .50 per coin does not sound too bad. off course I suspect paypal will cost another 60-80 cents

As a buyer it will be nice to know right away that we bought a coin instead of waiting hours for someone to email you like some other sales....

and of course the seller does not have to deal with hundreds of emails and sending invoices and or worring about over sell.

I think this idea has some potential is while there is a cost it is not unreasonable if it goes well.

guess we will find out in the next couple of hours :P

Paypal fees on a $10 order is about $0.60.
