  1. Cheers for that, that should do nicely, Thank you
  2. Do I need to update GSAK to increase the download limits, or do I have to wait until the GSAK author updates the software, as this is probably going to be the easiest way to achieve what I'm trying to do, albeit, it's not a pocket query
  3. Thanks for this, I was wanting to use pocket queries in particular as they are built up quite quickly for download, where as with GSAK I seem to be waiting a long time each time I run a "get geocache" query. Pacar
  4. Hans, thanks for the reply, it's not quite what I'm looking for, but it certainly has given me some ideas with regard to the use of date ranges to reduce the size of the returned pocket query and might be something I can build upon Pacar
  5. I'm wanting to map an entire county into a number of pocket queries and I'm wondering if there is an easy way to do it? Is there any third party software out there that can assist, has anyone else set out on such a task? If so, how did you go about it?? Cheers, Pacar

    GSAK Query

Thanks for so many replies and for such a great discussion on this topic. Perhaps the example I gave wasn't great, but it could easily be that someone is on holiday in the area, have dropped a trackable but are unable to update their own online files for a week or maybe a fortnight, but the principle was the same.

    GSAK Query

I'm now thinking about this, based on what I've read from: I complete a series of 30 caches, and in cache number 20 I "grab" a trackable. I get home, log into GeoCaching.com, visit the trackable page, "grab" the trackable. Into GSAK, "fetch" my finds, do nothing about the new trackable until I get to the 20th log, then set the trackable attribute to "visit". The first 20 caches will have no trackable linked, the last 10 caches will. Would that work out correctly??

    GSAK Query

Log your find on GSAK without logging the trackable, then wait for the other cacher to drop the TB into the cache and retrieve it separately - this could be a week or more later if the other cacher is caching on holiday and can't log their finds away from home. This is great, but what if I've visited 30 or so other caches before it is dropped??

    GSAK Query

It doesn't happen often but on occasion it does. What I do is NOT log the TB at the time I log my caches with GSAK but put the TB on my watchlist. I log everything possible and when I get the notification the TB is dropped I log it via the website and add it to the MyTrackables database with the AddTrackablesAPI macro. To avoid that a TB is "grabbed" by the next cacher before it's dropped and retrieved/dropped by me I never drop a TB before I have logged it as retrieved. With most of the caches we do we don't have that problem as we avoid busy caches. With less visited (longer/harder multi's) caches the caches that there are multiple loggers on one day are not that great Thanks for this, however, by doing this how do you then log that that TB has visited, say 15 caches, whilst it's been in your posession??

    GSAK Query

Folks!! I don't quite know how best to deal with trackables that haven't yet been logged in a cache but I've found and "retrieved" to move on to another cache, whilst using GSAK. The example would be, at 1100hrs "player x" drops a trackable into a GeoCache. At 1200hrs I come along, retrieve the trackable and move it into a new Cache. I get home and start uploading my cache finds before "player x" has had time to update their caching adventures. Because I have started to update my caches before "player x", the trackable they have dropped off doesn't display in the right hand side GSAK window: That being the case, how do I mark the trackable as retrieved and then moved into my inventory if I am logging a number of caches in one go. Does that make sense??? Cheers, Pacar

    GSAK Query

For anyone who has the same query, I have done some playing around in GSAK and I can confirm the the "Abbreviation" is NOT case sensitive. Pacar

    GSAK Query

I've just started today to play with field notes in GSAK Publish Logs. I'm confident with the fact that "Abbreviation=Full description" and got it to work well ("Zzgc=Cache container and log in good condition"), my question however is, is the "Abbreviation" case sensitive or will gsak just look for the character and disregard it being in upper or lower case?? Regards, Pacar
  13. Go to the trackable's page, click on your log (visit log). Once on that page, you can edit (pencil), delete (trash can) or upload image (camera). http://coord.info/TB61C4D B. That's sorted it, thank you!!
  14. Thanks for the reply, yes, I can do that, but does that attribute the image to the GeoCache that I'm editing the note for, rather than adding an image to the TB??
  15. I have grabbed a TB which is on a mission to have photographs taken of certain vehicles. I've taken a number of pictures and I'm now wanting to upload them, but can see no upload option. I've done this before - adding pictures to a TB's gallery but I can no longer see an option to do this. Can anyone help??? Regards, Pacar
  16. Thanks for all the answers, looks like I'll have to find somewhere to place a traditional cache. Thanks folks! Regards, Pacar
  17. I'm wanting to create what would effectively be a virtual cache which I know have been effectively done away with. There is an area I know which is very, very popular with walkers but due to a high foot fall of muggles I don't want to place a cache with a traditional log book here. What I would like to do is set a challenge, to send a picture of a feature, and that would effectively "log" the find. Is it permissible to set a traditional cache here but just put into the details that to qualify for the find, a picture is to be added to the log??? I've read about Waymarking, but this just seems another hoop for me to have to jump through and other GeoCachers may not have Waymarking accounts. What are the rules???? Regards, Pacar
  18. Hi! I've been looking at the case that you've recommended to me, have you noticed any damage to the rear of your device from the metal belt clip? I was wondering about covering the metal in a strip of "gaffa tape" to prevent any scratches? Would that work? I've found that Gizzmomoves sells on ebay which will make the purchase quite swift. Regards, Pacar

    GSAK

Hi Folks! Not sure if this is the right place to be asking or not, so apologies to anyone I offend.... I'm just starting to play with the option to "Publish" found logs through GSAK (I wish I'd found this sooner!!!) using the variable %time inserts a time stamp from my Garmin Oreon 650, is it possible to format this time stamp in a 24hr format??? Regards, Pacar []
  21. Thanks both for the update, but still no way to see how many caches have been loaded into the device. I've tried creating a new database in GSAK and then restore ALL geocaches from the 650 into this new database, but that doesn't work either. I guess I'm just going to have to trust that they are all there....
  22. Can anyone please tell me where on my Garmin Oregon 650 I can find how many caches I have loaded onto it? I just want to check that the numbers match up between that and GSAK. Thanks folks, Pacar
  23. Do you know how you change the default storage area for photos taken from the internal memory onto a micro SD card?
  24. I'm sure I will, I really like my Garmin 60CSx, the only downside was having to prepare so much stuff to have hints and descriptions with me. As for screen protectors, I ordered those from eBay the day I bought the device, I've always put screen protectors on to mobile phones, TomTom's and my 60CSx, I can't beleive more people don't make use of them. I ordered a case like this Garmin Case from the same company I ordered the unit from and had seen the case to which you've spoken about. I think I'll order one of those in the near future. Thanks for the links to the batteries, I have some "AA" rechargeable batteries that I currently use in my 60CSx which I would have though would work ok, although the mAh will be a little lower, can you comment on if these will work ok???
