  2. hahaha are we fishing or caching? lol what is all that for
  3. hehe I live in the middle of missouri cant go outside without getting ticks but for some reason ticks dont like me i have been bitten only about 3 times in my life and i spent most of my life in missouri in the woods my family and my dog on the otherhand is a different storry, my dog loves to get the ticks that are the size of a dime and green and different collors, i always grab a tissue and get as close to the skin as i can and as gently as possable without squeesing its insides out pull on it till it lets go and i have never had any problems with ticks, after i pull it out i either squash it or burn it in an ashtray or ground and watch it pop. "smells awfull "
  4. is that you??? hahahaha geez it looks like John Travolta hehehehe
  5. Well currently i have an iPAQ 4705 from here that i use for work and decided to use it for caches, and so since its got a bluetooth option i researched and ordered this gps package the gps unit is on backorder for a few weeks. I figured I would post what i'm going to be using, I was told it was a great unit for general use and some people have used it for geocaching, i dont know them personally, buying all this stuff is more then you would pay for a general pda or just gps, "i'm going paperless caching" so i figured i spent the money on it i'm going to use it, i'm also going to order this here for my pocket pc protector. once i get the gps in and start using it i'm going to post my thoughts about it on the forum for future chachers curious about bluetooth gps units.
  6. hahahaha wow i would say so and btw thanks for the input guys
  7. whats considered 10 essentials? Would that be like water first aid kit compas gps whistle flashlight batteries and assorted swags?
  8. I have read different posts when some people mension about what they normally carry with them so i figured I would post a thread and see what everyone brings, I am guessing i'm going to have to pack a backpack just to carry some of this stuff. I figure i will be taking my wife and my 7 month old daughter on easy trail type caches where we can enjoy taking her for a walk and enjoy the day, I guess all i'm asking is what are the essentials everyone takes varying from light walking caches to lets sky dive over to that island My equipment consists of a iPAQ 4705 with the Delorme Earthmate Blue logger "backorder " and power cords for car for both items, so what do you pack, I figure i might need to go buy a fanny pack also i already figure a mini first aid kit and flashlight and definately batteries. fanny pack for keys and bluetooth gps unit and cellphone and other minor things.
  9. oh yea thats definately the expensive way to go but i figure i already have some of the most important parts of my supplies why not use it, if i was just starting out and didnt already have this one i would buy the cheaper one with a good gps unit but i already have this one so i'm going to use it.
  10. Well I am new to geocaching i currently own a iPAQ 4705 "same as 4700" and i figured i would use it for geocaching b/c i currently use it for work and personal use and its fast and powerfull, It runs ppc 2003 and i love it, I ordered my pocket pc through hpshopping.com b/c they have a 1 year no payment deal going. I ordered this gps here so its on backorder, http://www.delorme.com/bluelogger/, for more information on the ipaq 4705 go here http://davesipaq.com/ or a direct link to the forum http://davesipaq.com/forum here you will find more resources about many pocket pc's, I love using my 4705, huge display, and great software, I play pool on it "Virtual Pool Mobile" its great b/c the screen tilts sideways both ways and great internet browsing with netfront browser. i'll be ordering this for when i go outside so i dont mess up my pocket pc http://www.thepocketsolution.com/Merchant2...roduct_Count=18 I spent a lot of money on what i bought with the accessories i spent $987 dollars on everything, And i will use it more then just contacts and calendar. i got it mostly for work but i'm going to be a geocacher and i figured why not i'll just use this and buy the waterproof drop proof case to protect it, unless something sharp hits the middle of the screen and pierces the ppc. then i'm screwed hehehe but I love my iPAQ 4705 and i think you should read some posts on the forums, you might even find a better one you like, I also love the built in wifi and bluetooth no need to use up my cf slot, so that leaves room for something else i figure after my gps unit comes in and i can find out some good safety things to keep in my backpack i will become a premium member b/c i love coming here reading posts and seeing how friendly and almost family like everyone is and so so so helpfull, Love it, but heres my 2 cents
  11. ok great thank you so verry much
