For me I have read the HP stories many times over and I also watch the movies. When I just recently got into caching and read the term I immediately knew what they were referring too. I like the term, as does my wife.

In Key West there is a cache where the muggles tell you if you are hot or cold. They know when a cacher is about. It doesn't help that its in a bar that is open pretty early.

Email from The Frog says I have a new souvenir, but...

"Andy would never shut up about this hide, and I am happy to say I finally found it. But he failed to mention it was a multi-puzzle that spanned thousands of miles."

Well if its a multi or mystery that results in a cemetery find I will be pleasantly surprised by the results. I was looking at the more traditional type cache's for this search.

OK, sounds like its time to make a request for a cemetery attribute for PQs at the feedback section.

My wife wandering 100 feet away from ground zero because she doesn't believe the GPS unit. We made several attempts at one cache, which I eventually found, and it was very near GZ from both my iphone and her GC (maybe within 5 feet). But she would wander across the street and down the parking lot. She still does if its not immediately visible. She has a slight aversion to sticking her head into foliage to make a find.

So I really like the idea of doing cemetery cache's. It appears that there isn't an attribute for cemetery within the PQ lists. Is there something other than GSAK that would help me narrow down the results for this? Or is this just a bit too morbid of a request. I did a cemetery cache while up in Oregon and loved the history that it provided as well as really liking the different headstones.

Most Northernly find, and furthest from home
sp1tf1re replied to Mr.Yuck's topic in General geocaching topics
My farthest from home, South, East are all the same cache. GCTM6Z - Top-O-The-Hill (US Virgin Islands) N 18° 19.900 W 064° 55.304 My farthest North and West are the same cache. Which is also my first cemetery cache. GCR1D2 - Claggett Cemetery (Oregon, United States) N 45° 00.898 W 123° 01.721 Then the closest find to home is .356 miles away from my door. There is a closer one I believe but its on my watch list since I can't find it. -
This looks like it is still going and I would love to be a participant. May I please get an invite?

As a diver and a Disney addict. I actually went to Disneyland for New Years eve this year and was there on Christmas Day last year. I would love to find one of these. I love that its a mystery coin. Also that golden spike is pretty sweet.

Well that all I needed, thanks. Now to show this to my wife tonight when I get home from work.

I know that these are done and they look great. My wife would be in love with this design. I do have a question though. HOw durable is the tail? Since that is where the trackable code is on.

I was looking at making some golf pencils with my company website and logo on them. Then just drop them where there is room for a pencil or pen in a chace. I figure it would be a useful item for a cache or even a pickup item for someone that likes golf pencils.

Why do I want a dedicated GPS receiver rather than my iPhone?

Why do I want a dedicated GPS receiver rather than my iPhone?
sp1tf1re replied to Monkey_Chops's topic in How do I...?
I currently cache with my iphone 4 with the official app. 1. as to accuracy I have generally been t=between 5 to 20 feet depending on cloud cover and tree cover. This is the same as the Explorist GC I got for my wife. 2. The battery life sucks when you start caching, you can really only expect 5 to 6 caches before you need to charge again. 3. As has been stated once traveling abroad you just can't use it unless you pay through the nose for data roaming. They say you can load PQs and then cache each map using Bing Maps then turn off the data, but I haven't tried this yet, and it can take forever to setup. 3. I love doing PQs, especially routes. This alowed for awesome caching while on a road trip and on a cruise. So I found a dedicated GPSr was better for this. 4. As far as rain I don't have any trouble using the phone even in heavy rain and you an put protective screens on them. I will eventually get a dedicated GPSr for myself, but currently I do mostly urban caching and when necessary my wife has the GC. The GC comes with a free 30 day membership to the site too, so you can check out how the PQ's work. -
I started with my iphone 4. Since my wife got into it as well we needed to grab a GPSr. After a bit of searching we struck upon the GC and really enjoy it. I will say that as long as my phone has a good cell signal I can generally be up and running to find a cache before my wife with her GC. I may get my own dedicated unit next year. Not sure what yet though. My likes are: 1. It is built in with worldwide maps 2. Loading GPX files is a breeze 3. uploading the logs with their dedicated vantage point software is easy 4. It has a rugged feel to the build, like it can take a few drops My gripes are 1. long startup to signal, to the point it even complains that it has lost the satellite 2. The screen brightness needs to always be on, or you just can't read it, this kills the battery life 3. Trying to find the vantage point software is a pain in the butt. Magellan really seams to want to hide the fact they have that software.

I don't hate the LPC's. I am fairly knew at the game and have found a few of them. I wouldn't have known to look if it weren't for topics on this forum about them. That being said, the best time to get these are on road trips. Where you have to stop for gas or food, you can generally grab a quick cache then hit the road again.

When you find a cache that needs a new log?
sp1tf1re replied to FloridaFour's topic in General geocaching topics
So far I have just left a message on the cache log that it needs replacing. Got a thank you note from the CO on their maintenance log. -
Logging "Find" and did not sign log
sp1tf1re replied to Take A Hike!'s topic in General geocaching topics
I am very new to this with about 16 finds. Two of my earliest were done without a pen. But I went back later in the day to sign the log. Since these finds were done on my walk to or from work it wasn't out of my way. Now if I don't have a pen I won't go hunt for a cache. I have also created a small ziplog bag of cache swag which includes a pen. -
How far you gotta go to find a cache nowadays?
sp1tf1re replied to Coldgears's topic in General geocaching topics
This weekend I will be going over 3k miles to cache. Granted I will be going on a cruise out of Ft lauderdale for 2 weeks and will be hitting at least 5 islands, plus the flight from LAX. -
the FAQ regarding logging in mentions an issue if the password has any profanity in it. This took me a while as well to figure out and it turns out that while what I was using wasn't a profane word it felt that a** was, once I reset the password on geocaching.com I was automatically logged in on the forum after changing the password.

I have a bunch of little things I have picked up over the years from various conventions and from my company that gamers would love to have. I also have a bunch of Alaska Airline wings. These things are various sizes so it will all depend on the cache size for what I leave.
