  1. I am so glad this had a happy ending. As well as the cache getting archived.
  2. Email sent: 1/6/2011 Name received: 1/16/11 Mission sent: 1/31/11 Mission received: 1/29/11 I finally got mine shipped out today. So I am done. Thank you so much for the coins.
  3. Email sent: 1/6/2011 Name received: 1/16/11 Mission sent:(date)Will be shipped 1/31/11 Mission received: 1/29/11 What a real cool package, filled with a card, candies and two coins.
  4. I would love to see mine sent too, trust me. I have one on its way, and found out the first one I ordered got lost at the mail carrier. Some investigations have begun to find out why the mail carrier didn't actually deliver the package. Its kind of frustrating but I should have something shipped by Monday.
  5. I have bugs that I have picked up get dipped at various caches along my day of caching. The miles aren't fake as the TB is in my possession, and there are times in a day of caching where its all micro's and mini's and the TB won't fit. I feel it also gives the TB owner confirmation that its also not lost. I will only have TBs and coins visit a cache if it is in my possession at the time of the cache.
  6. I have two that are trying to get to other countries and visit specific cities where my family has lived throughout history.
  7. Sounds like that one needs a NA instead on a NM. But after your TB gets pulled out of course. Its kind of funny though that the cache is still going with just a little baggie and a log.
  8. I am an iphone cacher and I lover it. But I do use an iphone 4. I have figured out that in order to save some battery life I will only submit all of my logs from a day of caching at one go, unless I drop a bug then I will do it immediately in case there is another cacher 20 or 30 minutes behind me and picks it up before I can drop it. Keep the iphone still at least for the browser to log the cache if you end up with a stand alone GPSr that doesn't allow for paperless. Since you can keep the hints, previous logs and other items at a quick glance. Rather than carrying a notebook. Always keep a pen in your cache bag, I learned this pretty quickly after my first 5 caches. even large caches may not have a pen available to sign the log with.
  9. I vote for the explorist GC as well, great paperless, you can upload PQs with the provided USB cable. You can enter a log for the find and then upload it back to the geocaching site with Magellan's hard to find software. It also has built in world wide maps. We were able to load a PQ and cache in the Caribbean with no trouble with the GC. I looked at the Geomate and the Explorist when I started the search for a dedicated GPSr. If you want to add more cahces to the Geomate you will need to purchased the accessory cable separately.
  10. I am an iphone 4 geocahcer and its accuracy is phenomenal, I went with my brother with his old non-paperless GPSr and the eXplorist GC of my wife and he was blown away by the accuracy of my phone. I initially went caching with the free app, and after the first couple of finds I realized it was time to upgrade to the full app. it's a great deal at ten bucks. The one thing to keep in mind the GPS will give you as the bird flies directions in a straight line. It does help to check the maps. Occasionally in the full app I will switch to a satellite map in order to get a better idea of where it might be and how to get to the cache.
  11. My wife and I cache often enough and she uses an Explorist GC awhile I use the iphone 4. We are both pretty close within 5 to 10 feet of GZ. So far though I haven't cached anywhere that I couldn't get a signal with my phone though. I may update in the future to a dedicated GPSr. But I really like the ability to log and upload my logs on the go. I have figured out that you can save a lot of bettery life by only sending the logs in batch rather than one at a time.
  12. I believe it is based on being a limited edition coin. Meaning that once the production is over the designer will choose to not strike a new batch of the coins. Then the X will designate that they are even more limited. Such as a gold finish instead of the more basic nickel finish. It could also be that the designer has one finish that they will continue to make, but chose to create a very small batch of the design in special finishes that are in a more limited quantity than the basic finish.
  13. Coin failed to arrive still, so I have ordered another with expedited shipping. I have also sent an email to the company that I ordered the first one from. So hopefully I will have my tokens shipping this weekend.
  14. I don't see it as a cheat to mileage. Its in my pocket while out caching, I can't always drop it, such as micro's or what looks to be a sketchy place to leave a trackable. That way the owner knows its on the move. If I can (or remember to) I will snap a pic of the location with the bug or coin and upload it with the log.
  15. i don't think you have to panic quite yet, it is only the 18th of january and the missions don't have to arrive until feb 14. Except that I ordered the coin right when I signed up for this challenge. It has been shipping for 9 days now.
  16. still waiting for the coin to arrive. If it doesn't soon I may have to expedite another one.
  17. To answer the question about leaving something when you take a trackable, that is not necessary. Since the goal is to move along to another cache. Bugs and geocoins are the exception to the swag rule. But try not to hold on to them for too long. If someone was upset by not making the grab I think that may be more of an isolated thing. I know that I am able to log grabs with my iphone so I can get them logged immediately and don't have to wait until I get home. If you find that the goal for the coin or bug is going to a place you will be in a couple of weeks let the owner know that you are going to hold onto it a little longer since you will be heading that way soon. They are usually ok with that as well.
  18. I have found that as a cacher I will note that I didn't see any trackables in a cache if any are listed as being there. Hopefully the bug owner will see the note and mark it as such. As someone that owns trackables now I will mark a cache to watch for activity. That way I will be aware of any activity on the cache and if my trackable doesn't get logged I can send a note to the last cacher to find out if anything happened.

  20. I know that I really want to get trackable's moving too. Sometimes you get a string of caches that the bug in your possession can't be dropped. So I will have them visit at least one in an area so the owner knows it is still active. If I feel its taking too long I will drop them in a nearby cache that I know is active, hard to find and can fit the bug.
  21. I am planing to get one, then sew it onto my rolling carry-on luggage. So people that know while sitting in the airport can discover it. And then only dip it if its in the vehicle while caching.
  22. Just ran around an area of Riverside this weekend and found a bunch of altoid containers. They were so rusted. One was missing a magnet so it couldn't reasonably be placed where it should be. The rust was the worst part since it caused issues with possibly re-opening. Also found a giant pill bottle at another, which took a while to find, but it had water in it, definitely not water tight. I have decided that whenever I get around to hiding a cache I will do some submersion tests first.
  23. Yep, just as Walt said, simply go and delete any duplicate logs you find. Select "Visit Log" and you will have the option to Edit or Delete.
  24. My wife and I still don't have the souvenir for Florida yet, We both have logged caches in Ft Lauderdale. We did get the California one though.
  25. I have recently found some armed services geocoins that look very similar to a challenge coin but with tracking number on them.
