  1. I think the car would be more accurate but it's a lease car and the thought of them ripping me off crosses my mind every time I compare the two odometers. My GPS is always less. I drove from Southfield, MI to Flint, MI and the GPS had 2 less miles on it. That's not a lot but it would add up after 3 years What do you guys think?
  2. I started with a SporTrak Map. I upgraded to a Meridian Platinum. I see no difference in the two as far as operating and accuracy go. I loved my STM so much kept it in the family. The only reason I wanted to upgrade is so I could have expandable memory. My Meridian also routes for me which I use daily. My next GPS will be a Garmin only because I like my toys and I like learning how to use them. Heck I bought a Palm OS PDA just to see how it works. I didn't buy a Garmin this time because I already had the map software for my Magellan. Also Garmin is not real big on expandable memory, until recently.
  3. What about your map software, how bag are your maps you are loading? I'm playing with Street Atlas Handheld 2005 and I'm seeing I can only load chunks of maps and not the whole map of Michigan per say.
  4. I kind of agree with Harry D. It wasn't a big deal until it was made a big deal and although I agreed with the big deal, Harry's post knocked some sense into me because his post makes sense. It may have been better to teach the kids that sometimes people may feel strongly about something, and that doesn't make it right or wrong. This goes for ALL sides of this party. Even though the finder of the TB was out of line, teaching 10 kids self control (by teaching them it's ok to observe the situation (or passivly control)) might have been more rewarding than the outcome at hand. I hope that made sense. I sometimes find it hard to express my thoughts with my keyboard.
  5. I would like something that charges while I drive and prefer bluetooth. Although, wouldn't bluetooth be a pain because of it's "line of sight"? I need advice. This is what I'm looking for. But I keep running into a dead end.
  6. Magellan rocks! Hope that helps! Waitress, beer please!
  7. Not sure where you're coming from but the search works fine for me. Make sure you're logged in. Clean up your web cookies too. You can get there from "Tools" at the top of your screen and then click "Internet Options". I do apologize if you already know how to do this. IR Ahh I misread. And ow I get to pad my post count =P
  8. Wow, nice info. I would have never looked twice at the Meridian Color if I knew it was the same as the meridian gold (except for the color screen).
  9. Yea good point. I like do kinda like that marine stuff. And maybe I'll get a small boat this summer. I would name it CanCacheAlot and have a plethora of beer in the fridge and blonds on the bow. I could drive it everywhere if it were one of those amphibious boats. /dream Anyway good point. As long as it's the same.
  10. Any idea how I upload the basemap? I tried googleing this and I have not found anything yet.
  11. I put the latest STANDARD firmware on it. What exactly is the difference between the 2 basemaps? I have the Marine basemap loaded but I still can see the major roads and freeways, but I also see buoys in the water. Any ideas?
  12. ?? Just testing to see what the new posts look like after I respond. Can anyone my question in my previous reply though?
  13. Oh yes that's right. I didn't even think about that. I was in a situation where I needed to find the long/lat and I had my laptop with map source but the web was more convenient. I know I have seen pics on MapQuest with the long/lat but I'm not sure how to get there. I may be mistaken also.
  14. I think this post has something to do with this post.
