I could see them becoming "event items" yes, it may be unfortunate, as that is not what they were originally intended for. It is also unfortunate that they go missing. I personally started to collect them because I colect alot of "odd" stuff and the coins do appeal to me, like you said though not every coin ever made just attractive ones and trades that I may be able to set up. I just wish I had something to trade for one of your GeoBones cuz I think they are great!! I have bought several coins in the last couple fo weeks, some because they actually have a personal meaning to me. I.E. the South Carolina coins as I grew up there. Others I have bought in hopes of trading for coins I would like to have. As far as them all seeing caches, I think coins would have to be run in unbeleivable amounts (say 50-60 thousand) to keep the "collector" value down enough to keep them out of collections. I'm hoping that come spring I will be having my own personal coin made probably only 100-200 made and will be using those for trades as well. This may not truly answer a specific question, it's just my opinion.

Honestly I'm really sure how to answer you, except that Ive only been caching for just over 6 months and have never ever seen a coin in an actual cache. I had an OHIO coin pass through one of my caches but have never seen a coin in a cahce. Same concept as baseball card and all of the game cards the originally were meant to be traded/ or play a game with them. all of them are in collections now and occasionally traded.

AOL ..... you're screwed. I wouldn't mind a geoscrewcoin but those are long gone. I'm hoping I made the cut for these though.

I have been reading alot of these threads over the last two weeks and have decided on a couple of things. I have strted the process of looking into having my own personal coin made. I'm hoping to put a plan into action next spring when I get my tax returns. At that time depending on how much money I have and what it will cost will decide how many coins will be made, although other options are being looked into. The only thing that has been decided for sure is that I will have my geonick on it (obviously) and one side will be a dreamcatcher and the other will have an eagle. Outside of that I'm still planning and wont be doing anything with it till next year. All intentions be it LE or whatever will be decided and posted when that time comes.

After the problems are covered if you have any left I would love to purchase one from you.

Splitting the order is not doable. I talked to our vendor and it would be considered two orders. If we placed the first order now and didn't get enough orders to make the price point for the second order we would loose money as it would cost us more to produce the second batch at a fewer number. I could ask you this? Since you knew the sales period, you could have waited until the end of December to commit your money to the order and then only had to wait about 2 months and then not had the same complaint right? Or would you have complained at 2 months also. I would have loved to have had the money to up front buy 500 coins and then sell them as you bought them. But what about the cacher that wanted our 501st coin. This way everyone that wants a coin will have ample opportunity to get an order placed. We don't have a point where we are sold out. If you place an order you will get a coin. As of tonight we are at 623 sold. I'll get an updated list posted later this evening. And yes, I'll start posting only difference lists to keep the forum length down. Thanks for the idea. Arctic I wasn't complaining. In fact i'm rather excited and from the looks it will be very worth wait (which was in my original post) I was just expressing an opinion. Like I said I'm not in charge, therefore I can't make any real decision on it. I understand the idea that you are working from as I will most likely employ the same strategy when I do my own coin as I will be able to afford the dies cost but thats it. Let the coin sell itself and determine the size of the run.

I just wish I had something to offer up as a trade. Still being so new to coin collecting I only have three coins two of which I traded for.

I'd be willing to trade both my new wooden coin and my sig lego block and even one of my moms sig key chains (made by hand) that reads NEO-GEO CACHER. made out of beads on twine tied to a key ring. shoot me an e-mail if your interested.

As of right now (being new to collecting) I only have three metals, one porker , and one wooden plus my personal wooden coins but I'm not sure I would count those.

It's truly ashame that I missed out on this coin, cuz I once got to visit the fine city Of Des Moines and got too meet a bunch of extremely friendly people. Of course this was before I knew about caching but still have very fond memories of my stay there.

Well gee another fun thread for me to get wrapped up in!!! LOL well out of the original 20 wooden coins i got the first try I still have 14 left and should be receiving 100 more early next week. I am up for trading some of these if any one is interested (like I need to ask)

OK so I am the newest member of GAA. I just realized that in the last 10 days I've spent just over $300 dollars on coins!! OOPS how'd that happen?? I should be receiving my wooden sig coins early next week I hope. And everything else I'm waiting on either production or whatnot. Just too bad I couldn't get in on the GAA coin, but I didn't have this addiction when it came out. Maybe next year or if I can get luckay and work a trade. We'll see what happens.

well i ordered and paypaled for 4 last ngiht. might be a long wait but I think it will be worth it. but I still agree with some previous people about splitting the order, but I'm not in charge.

I got to see the coin that was given to Miss Latitudes friend as I know him also, It is a very pretty coin and I'm very sad I missed out. Oh well maybe next year if there is one.
