  1. Thank you, looking more into your posted thread, I discovered my email address, phonenumber@mypixmessages.com. Thanks for your help!
  2. I am trying to use my phone number@vtext.com, when I try to verify on my phone, I continually get a message to validate my email address. Can anyone help with this?
  3. My Samsung galaxy 5 doesn't seem to have nearly the accuracy of good old Garmin 60 CSX. My cell phone would have never helped me find a geocache in Ethiopia last year. I love my old GPS.
  4. Yikes, why must it be fixed if it isn't broken? I really don't think much of these new changes in the past day or 2.
  5. It seems as if most of all the emails from geocaching.com have been down since about 1:30 PM EDT. The reviewer approved 3 new caches that I have placed for an upcoming event, and I never even received those approval notifications. I can see that they were approved on the actual cache site but no email response like other caches posted a few days ago.
  6. We will be in the area at the same time-June 26th to July 4th. We are going to the GC, Page to do the raft trip, Zion, and back to Vegas. We love hiking caches with a vista or something memorable and will definitely do the Las Vegas sign and wedding chapel. Coming at this time of the year, I can't imagine we will be doing much hiking in the heat. I have never been further west than Ohio so I am so excited! Thank you for your suggestions.
  7. We are traveling here in June and we would like to find some caches. On a side note, is Antelope Canyon worth a visit? Has anyone ever done the smooth water raft trip from Page? Thank you for all of your help!
  8. If your dad likes Norman Rockwell, check out my profile. My husband drew the poster and he sells the prints for framing. Send me an email and I will give you the details. (very reasonable prices!)
  9. A monument, like perhaps one in D.C? We can't assume that any monument has any less significance to someone. Sorry, but I say a very loud "NO" to that one. We need to be respectful.
  10. My daughter is not always crazy about the idea, but we study her vocab words while we are hiking to a cache.
  11. done! I hope this helps in pursuing your degree. I would be interested in what you learn from this survey.
  12. I got rid of my significant other as he didn't like geocaching nearly as much as me! (along with a few other reasons) I have found 95 caches in 6 months-before that it took 5 years to find 200!! It would be nice to someday find a nice man who shares some of my interests (especially geocaching)-if it is meant to be......
  13. I'd vote for the kayak also-two of my favorites-kayaking and geocaching! It doesn't get any better than that!
  14. I have to add a reply-I have cached in both DC and Gettysburg. While both are wonderful places, I have to agree that "Last Stop for a Weary Traveler" (in DC) should not be missed. It is my favorite virtual of any I have done, and one that most people would probably never see if not for geocaching.
  15. Yes, you are right. PI is just an allergic response to the allergen, uroshiol. Allergies are very hard to predict-some you outgrow, some get worse as you get older, and sometimes you can be exposed to something all your life, and develop an allergy to it in your 80's or 90's. The Indians used "Jewel Weed" as one of the above posters mentioned. It is believed they made a slurry of leaves and water, and used it like a compress. Jewel Weed grows abundantely here in PA, not sure about other areas. Someone once told me they made this up and froze it in a ice cube tray and was very soothing. Cortisone is a steroid and steroids are indeed available in inhalation form. Chlorox is NOT recommended for treating PI as others here have already mentioned. I did a college report on PI-it was like 25 years ago, but nothing has changed. And, the oil from any part of the plant can remain on garden tools, sneakers, hats, etc. and continue to cause the allergic response.
  16. Because of my passion for ticks and snakes.
  17. Ha HA! Your fellow geocaching pharmacist says that sounds like a great idea, but no doubt your prescription insurance company will want "Prior Authorization" from your doctor for this prescription!
  18. Fren-Z, It seems as if you have covered many bases in educating the proper authorities. It is sad that our country has come to this, but it sounds like it may be a way of life for some time to come. I hope this does not discourage you or other responsible geocachers. I look forward to crossing paths with you again at future events and caches. I can't help but chuckle about Tyson getting in the middle of the ruckus! I am sure he also helped to diffuse the situation. We will have lots to talk about at future events. You have our support. Keep caching (and counting those seconds!) julie
  19. I wonder if any of the athletes geocache in their spare time? (maybe they have no spare time). I am having a difficult time trying to locate Torino to see if there are any nearby caches.
  20. I have a basic $10, large backpack from Sam's club that I got a few years ago. In my opinion, it's not so much what kind of pack but more importantly that it is dedicated to geocaching only-part of a long ago New Year's resolution to be more organized. I keep it ready to go which works out very well for us. I have most of the same things others mentioned, but I never thought of work gloves-that is a great idea. This pack is where I keep my binoculars, as we are often hiking longer trails with nice views and interesting birds. One thing I do not take, but recently decided I better, is my cell phone. I do not want to be 3 miles up the Appalachian Trail and have one of my kids call to say they need some money or a ride. I decided I am going to start taking it, but not turn it on! I enjoy the peace and quiet too much to be interupted and if they don't like it, they can come with me and talk all they want and it will be just fine because we will be outdoors, which puts us all in a great mood!
  21. Our most exotic cache was Midfjordur Cache in Iceland; a beautiful remote area overlooking a fjord on the northern side of the country. It's not one of those warm islands, but definitely the most exotic in our view!
  22. Thank you everyone! I am successfully using my GPS for mileage and speed on my daily walks. I appreciate the help!
