thanks for the replies all.. I guess what I wanted was to try to do was track a bottles travels from a small river to the ocean. Bad idea.. But I like the camara idea, thats cool!
-
I got an awesome idea. I like the old message in a bottle thing. Make a waterproof cache and put a tb in it. Then toss it in a river. Label it geocache. And maybe muggles way down streem that find it will get on the website and log it! Chances are it will be lost I bet though.. or maybe this is considered littering

I though people would like to see a picture of the chainmail balls I leave in caches. that would be awesome to find in one of the new york caches!

I have been to a few caches where I told my girfriend "I hope the last finders left a cold 6 pack in this thing!!!! I am dieing!" I have never heard of a cache that had a theme that wasn't approiate* I imagine that there are some out there that say "This isn't a cache for your kids! Contents may not be kid friendly" -

I think I am the biggest idiot in the world.. I have been reading and reading the logs from the cache. I thought it was just amazing to be reading all of those and the stories they told.. I just realized that they aren't real.. hahaha I am such an idiot.. I even posted this link onto another forum I am on.. They were a good read though! I am still smiling -

My "mental" part is fine. I just can't jump up and down or whack myself in the belly. So if a cache involves me climbing up a vertical cliff, its not going to happen.. haha. -

I would like to do it.. maybe I should go with vargseld all the way from NY.. It would have to be a few yrs down the road though, I don't have the cash for the trip.. I have only left NY like twice and have only flown in a mini plane once for like a little 30 min tour of the county. I don't get out much and don't travel much. Sometimes I fear that I will never see much of this great country. I live in central ny and the farthest away I have ever been was a couple days in virgina beach at a state park where me and my girlfriend drove down for a few days to see the ocean. I have only seen the ocean once. I have only seen one big city. And now that I wrecked a snowmobile this winter and almost died (split spleen, 2 broken ribs, pnemonia), my whole year is pretty much shot. I can't do anything that is hard on my body. So looks like I am a fisherman. I can't shoot my bow, mountain bike, or ride my bros 4 wheeler (fast). What do you think vargseld?? maybe by the time you have 999 caches I might have enough $$ saved up for the trip down to texas? I have only seen (briefly) a few states of this country, I think I need to see a few more.. -

let me get this right.. You email him telling him you want to do the catch. If your too far to drive, he will fly you there. You go to the bunker and get your envelope. Follow your instructions and you will be on your own to fly all over the us or the world.. in the end of 40 caches, there is the final one and a "prize" for you -

I am glad that this list isn't longer.. -
The biggest most benificial things for me 1.Allow the use of SD cards in all units 2.Geocatching options in the unit (codes decript) 3. And the BIGGEST one, I would like to see the mapsource updated better. I always seem to stop at that restaurant that is no longer there. Or the KFC that moved. Or the interstate that had its name changed years ago and is still wrong on the mapsource software. And my software is V6.. 4. Large Screens Other then that, keep up the work Garmin!! We look forward to your improvements!

what did the log book say? Thats horrible -
ahh, thanks for the replies! I know see what it is. Doesn't interest me that much. The shutter spot thing looks neat though. I would like to see from a very long time ago and then go to that location and take a recent picture. But I can't seem to figure that site out very well. Most the ones I looked at just showed the pic you have to try and take, they didn't show any of the ones that have been submitted. I am probally missing something. One I found worked. It was in the catskill mountains and a black and white photo of an indian? on a ledge overlooking a house up on a hill. And next to that pic was a recent one. That was AWESOME!

wow these are amazing. That last link doesn't work for me. Keem em coming! -
I recently read about a cache that someone found that was filled with urine and a note that said "sign this log if your a butthead"... I want to hear of the other bad things people have found. I am guessing that this mostly happens when a muggle discovers the cache. And this is the first time I have heard of something bad. The certain cache I am talking about was hidden in a playground area somewhere. I would love to catch someone doing that. I hope we never have to get to the days where we have to set up a "trail cam" (used for finding deer) to keep an eye on our caches.

What is geodashing? I seen this on a site and have never heard of it. Thanks in advance fellow geo nuts!

Hey varqsled, Here is an extremly hard one for ya haha.. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=73288 in all honesty. There was one that was out on an island on lake erie I seen awhile back. Thats on my must find list. I think one in an unmarked cave would be awesome!!!!
