  1. I have the same unit which I purchased about 4 months ago. I can have great signal in an open field but as soon as I get under cover I lose reception. After some research prior to purchase I was under the assumption that this was a respectable unit, now I am quite disappointed. Is there a modification or perhaps an alternate antenna that might improve performance at all? Thanks
  2. Thanks for the rapid reply, my unit is set to WGS84. The base map in the unit also seems to be slightly off.
  3. I have a new Garmin Etrex Legend and have used it for a couple of finds. I have just tried connecting it to my laptop running an older version (6.0?) Delorme Streets and Trips which seemed to connect fine. My question is, which is the correct location. My unit reads my coordinates and claims accuracy at this time of approx. 20 feet, however the software shows my loation as about 400-500 feet down the street from my current location. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is my unit out of whack (despite having found caches, but they must be physically searched for anyway), or is it usually the mapping software that is somewhat inaccurate? Please help, as I like to resolve problems while the unit is under warranty if necessary. Thanks for a wealth of knowledge and a fun sport.
  4. THANKS for the advice. Picked up the Garmin. Tried out geocaching, family LOVED it. Daughter first tried it out during a Brownie meeting, now we all look forward to lots of fun. Thanks!
  5. I have been considering one of these two as they fit into my budget. My family is interrested in geocaching. Any comments about which I would be happier with. They both seem nice but the Garmin seems like it does more. Is one more sensitive than the other. I realize there are opinions on brands but I am more concerned with an all around better performer. Thanks
