Well if you want to use it as a phone or receive data other then via wi-fi then yes you would have the monthly fee of your cell phone bill and data plan. Otherwise it would function basically as an Ipod touch which is the duty my old 2G iphone has been assigned to. I do like the idea of that xgps251. But to me 1/2 the real benefit of the geocaching app is the great maps, which require a data connection I believe. So I am curious how the app will work when you are out of wi-fi range. I'm a x Megallen cosumer had the explorist 500 and talk about non customer service issues OMG still cannot get this to work again I hope this new setup works well

Finally got my Battery and charger kit today from magellen for my 500LE, now if I can remember which way to connect it to charge the battery.

O-k It's there it did upload, maybe @ the time of uploading I was expecting to see a message on the screen of the gps stating that file transfer complete which I do not remember seeing. Thanks embra for understanding the problem with my gps and the quick fix.

Trying to up load to my Explorist 500, using the Geochache manager I highlight all the files to transfer, put the gps in the usb file transfer mode, I click on the transfer to gps icon and then I get a window popup (save as), so I save it and the files do not transfer to my gps, cannot figure out the problem maybe the files are in the wrong format, got the files from geochaching any help would be appreciated.

I have Magellen 500LE and if I bought that battery that suppose to fit it (the Motorola snn5595b) would it get charged when it is connected to the computer?

I have had on backorder the Li-on battery pack for my Magellen 500LE for four weeks now, can anyone beat that.

I cannot believed it, I uploaded the new update without no problems (so far). It even seems to work with Mapsend Topo 3D and it never did before.

Yes I understand that there is a Motorola cell phone Battery I believed the # is snn5595b, it's suppose to work with the Magellen 500LE. You can get them on EBAY. Good luck.

Two weeks for me, I bought rechargable AAA Batteries till I get the charger.

You have to careful where that flash card was used before, it might have some other data on it. You can get those SD cards at your local Walmart, I bought a 256 one for about $14.00.

I have the Explorist 500LE, when I click on the about screen it says that the background map is 1.12, is there a update for this background map?

I have the Explorist 500LE and having a problem communicating between Mapsend and the GPS. Under the option menu I click on GPS settings I have COM1 & COM2, but no COM3 for the GPS which I used before. Any help would be appreciated

Was suppose to get my Explorist 500LE today from Fedex, well wouldn't you know it I found a sticker on the front door from Fedex saying that they were here @ 8:55AM, FEDEX DRIVERS PLEASE KNOCK HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHH!
