Hello, I was reading this thread and was really pleased to find I know the answer to this! Mary Anning is from Lyme Regis in Dorset, England (United Kingdom). She was taught fossil hunting by her father and she was a very sickly child. Her dog was killed in a shale slip. The coastal region she is from is known as The Jurassic Coast. It's very jagged rock and there are fossils lying around on the beaches. GC2PDQA is the local earth cache. .
