  1. But see, Mr Muirman, you have created some really ingenious hides also, along with Nutlady. We (my Portervillan team and I) like to find yours because they are fun, ingenious, or even if it is a micro bush hide like some of Fresgo's, they are at least Historical Interest or something. I like to mention SOMETHING about the cache, even if it is that I broke a nail trying to de-wedge the thing. I believe the cacher to whom Nutlady is referring is doing so many in a day, that they are unable to do anything other than a cut and paste type log. And besides, not every person is gifted in any kind of verbosity. I take great pride in attempting to describe things with some sort of obscure vocabules. I agree with you RWD PFD, and I think that cacher in question wouldn't be quite so disappointing if the condescention of others wasn't so frequent in their cut/pasted log entries.
  2. At the suggestion of Firefox for another GSAK related issue, I find that Firefox keeps my autologin, while the ISP-provided generic verions of Netscape nor the Explorer installed in the computer do. So it isn't a firewall thing I think. WMconnect.com is what I use, and they are a bit limited in the options for the internet settings. I will dig a little farther and find out why the other two don't work. Otherwise I will start using Firefox as a default!
  3. Cool! Since that IS my daughter doing the extra logging. Thank you! ...and here I thought I was onto something... DOH!
  4. Hay! And I figured out something here, that I am sure all of you experienced individuals already know and or have posted about... While using GSAK to macro-log the found caches for my daughter's non-P account, it logged them for her anyhow, even though some of the ones we found were premium. I hadn't noticed it before, until I looked for one of the premium caches. How is this possible, if she isn't supposed to be able to get to those cache pages? I had already found some of them previously, but she got her own account, so we went back and let her re-find and log her own. (I was going to wait until she was sure that she would be caching with me a while before getting her a paid account.) Is that a glitch, a registration issue within GSAK, or am I just lucky today?
  5. I had a quick thought - and then removed it... I thought that because I received SIX PQ's yesterday, shown as generated the 22nd, and they were all the ones I had checked for TODAY the 23rd, that there was a date issue. But then one I checked randomly for today showed up right away. (of course I hadn't run it in a long time either) So my idea was dust...
  6. Geez! I have left a lip balm in my car in winter and had it melt...big ungl mess too! I guess he's never had to clean a really greasy mess before!
  7. I got today both PQ copies and some PQ's I hadn't run in several months...The copies are rather important local ones, but the others are in an area we visit only once or twice a year so they aren't a regular thing. THOSE seem to have run just fine, but the others I am still not sure about.
  8. Thank you! I also had some that were scheduled to run...hadn't run them since a week ago and they came at about 7:30 PM...which was after I had come in for the day. I have not checked any so far this week...Just to see if the issue was repaired...which is nice to hear that it has been!
  9. I have tried both the Netscape that is with my ISP (WalmartConnect), and the IE that is on the computer. I have reset the options in both and I still have the problem. I have even tried it on my mom's computer, and my caching partner has her own account with Netzero and it does it to HER also.
  10. That was too funny! Complete it by walking away muttering something about "...radiation levels in THAT one!" edited for correct smilie
  11. I don't consider my truck an SUV, but I DO know that people look down on trucks as a family car. We are a family of 4, two adults being 5'11' and 6'2" respectively, with kids doomed to also be that tall. We have a car, a Sable, and it is almost too small for all of us. AND, since we go camping, haul animals to the vet, shop at warehouse grocers, we NEED a pickup. Plus, it is taller and easier to get into, especailly with back and knee problems.
  12. One fellow cacher I met was walking through town wearing a cammo jacket and a safari hat with a Geocaching patch on it. I thought at first he was a city worker surverying something because he had a clipboard or a stack of papers (puzzle cache) and a carabiner with several things including his GPS hanging off of it. He just looked out of place on Main Street. Of course I just slammed my truck into the first place to park and hopped out and asked, "So, which screen name are YOU?"
  13. Our gas topped out at $3.39 and is (finally!) back down to $3.11. Bad part is, last year at this time we were griping about it getting to $2.75! I wish we lived in an area where caching by bike is feasible. We have found the 3 caches in our town, and then next "town" is 15 minutes away by vehicle. I could go to Fresno to cache on foot/bike, but that city has areas I would like to have a more dependable and speedy method of escape! So I try to make a 20 + cache day when we actually DO get out and find some. Or know where the darn thing is ahead of time based on the location and past logs...then I get those on trips to that particular area anyhow...
  14. We do a combo of the Rattle Rattle vs the Three Muscateers...If my daughter is along, (with her own account) we do the spot it and walk away method. Otherwise, if it is an especially hard one, my cousin and I will combine forces and once found the hunt is over. We often have these Zen days where I will be the spotter of ALL caches and she works the GPS. Other days she can't get the GPS to work and spots everything before I do. Depends on the cache really, some are really easy and exactly where you think they are, and others use a little brain power. That brain power we seem to not have consistently enough to both be able to spot the cache easily. It comes and goes, so we trade off...
  15. We had someone here leave pretty little carnation blossoms in the caches. After a week of being sealed in the container, with a little warm weather, ther ENTIRE contents of the cache was covered in a fine grey/black furry mold. I had gone back to these previously found caches to let my daughter resign the logs, since she NOW has her own account, and we found this moldy mess. I tried to clean everything off as well as possible, traded out some of the really nasty ones, but come on...Mold is a very serious health issue for some asthma sufferers...(like me!)...
  16. That is what I do also, except that I DON'T log out. I just close the browser. Next time I bring it back up, even if it is right away, I have to log in again. I have just given up on it. I am not a techno-geek (not meant in a bad way, now!) enough to figure out what it could be setting-wise...I just know it works elsewhere.
  17. Yup. We have a very enthusiastic individual who is very much saturating the area, and when some of the other people setting them out get some new ones going I will prioritize thiers first. Thank you Jeremy for considering this...I usually get the notification, then go and run a PQ that I have set up, and just view them on a page to download the latest one or two that are of interest, closer to me, in the direction I am headed that day/weekend...
  18. Mine have been a little funky lately too. I went back and re-checked the days on mine ( I have 13 or so, but for entirely different areas, types, ratings etc. for the different groups I go with...) and one that I checked to run the following week (on the day previous) ran that day immediately. So while checking one for Tuesday, it actually ran on Wednesday. Seemed a little odd, since it was 8-10 hours into Wednesday when I checked it, AND I am pacific time...
  19. I just thought about it again, so I am asking again... Does anyone else every wonder to whom the new cache listing may belong? I know that in our area, there are some REALLY active members making new cache listings almost every week, and while I would like to find ALL of the new caches, I would like to start out with a certain person's first. It would be nice to see which ones came from which cachers...rather than the profile of the reviewer/approver. Just another thought...
  20. Aside from being happy to see others with 600's, no, I never have had any issues with the screen. My only problem is the connection/communication link when sending maps to it. Sometimes it shuts off in mid transfer.
  21. I only select a managable sized map each time. I load one after another as I travel out of one area. All of these are stored just fine on a 128MB card. Details, such as restaurants and gas stations, I choose in the map detail BEFORE cutting it to the Magellan converter.
  22. I know that the Magellan 600 that I use is not a car unit, but with some of the caches that I have found, I have been able to almost step on it, despite the trees and others' complaints about coords being off. The ONLY time it has acted screwey was out on the desert by Pahrump NV, which is out there in Nye county. Art Bell has a radio show, and there's also Area 51 fireworks. THAT place my compass would show 300 feet north, and after walking about 6 paces it would say to go 400 feet south. I suspect there is something strange out there...
  23. Make sure you also see what time it was last generated for the next time it DOES run. I created some late at night, and then when the day rolled around they showed up late at night. I think that is how they work...
  24. I usually just use the sort feature, and also double-check using the Palm... I also sort them first and save into separate folders in the GPS, so I can see what I am searching for that way... Mopar, are your features available for GSAK at all? Or just Spinner? That little DNF icon sounds really cute!
  25. That's true, I should just refresh the entire GPX each time, only adding nexest log entries. But I have also found some good hints and tidbits in past logs that would have been lost if I had dumped all info each time.
