  1. The guidelines are selfish? Selfish of whom exactly? I think the Threads are biased on selfish terms, not the guidelines. Except that doesn't make sense in context to the last two sentences. Either way, I'm confused as to where the selfishness factors in. hahahaha. I can't even reply to this other than to say maybe the sky and clouds are selfish too. Oh wait, things can't be selfish.
  2. Barbossa: ... And thirdly, the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Miss Turner .
  3. It was slow before the upgrade and is still just as slow after.
  4. There are many threads questioning or asking to verify the rules. And many opinions. Most are biased on selfish terms. Some are completely ignored with impunity. Others situations that are vague are enforced without clear evidence. It seems to me that if every rule was enforced to the full extent almost no caches would be allowed.
  5. "I" am not the only person on the planet that has in the past and will in the future find and place caches in or near cemeteries. Keep that in mind. You're really trying too hard to make me into somebody I'm not. It really wasn't that hard. You take most of the credit. Project complete. My work here is done.
  6. The only important word to you is pretty clear. "I"
  7. It's not that you might be a nut. It's that the perception is that you are a nut. But whatever. If y'll can't understand why this might be in poor taste then what can I do. Enjoy.
  8. Or any sensitive time. i.e. when loved ones are visiting. Which is pretty much all the time. But if you can find a time when absolutely nobody is there then it's should be fine. Immoral is when someone can't be respectful to someone that might be grieving for a loved one. And I'm sure you're not going to ask so you have to assume they are grieving. Forbid there be an actual service going on and you're searching through the bushes like a nut. Not to mention most cemeteries that are still receiving new burials are privately owned. Per the GC rules you'd need permission. Cemeteries are not public parks even though they might have the same kind of things. Trees, grass, benches, etc.
  9. Per the great prophet, Gregory House M.D., "Everybody Lies".
  10. IMO Historical Cemeteries: OK as long as you're respectful. "Active" Cemeteries: Completely inappropriate and immoral in every way for geocahing.
  11. Like above said, let them hold the gps and find the cache.
  12. People with kids like to find stuff. My daughter rarely wants to take anything but she spends a lot of time inspecting the items. We might stay at a cache a long time if it has interesting items. I appreciate the effort of the CO. On the other had the only thing I'm interested in when I'm alone is a small log I can write a couple lines in.
  13. Besides being equally mad as everyone else, I find their psychological reasoning fascinating. What they appear to be doing is: 1) Playing the game just like everyone else. They use this site to find the cache and must have their own GPS. Sounds familiar. 2) Then they take it a step further and prevent others from playing. For some reason it seems they might not even understand they are doing part one, and of course refuse to understand. Or possibly they are subconsciously protecting what they perceive to be their own.
  14. I found a pill-capsule in a cache last week. Pretty low IMO.
  15. Items that are normally called "Chachkies" even if commercial seems like they would be fine. Maybe even appropriate. Fill up your bag at your next trade show and throw one in every cache you come upon. Some are kind of cool
  16. Interesting but how long until a punk sees it and mangles the end with his foot or skateboard. Yeah, like an hour maybe. I think placing a thumb drive in a normal geocache might be worth trying. Especially since random people (muggles) shouldn't be finding them anyway.
  17. Yeah, Dakota 20. Sorry. Thanks for the explanation on how it works.
  18. I don't know how I've done it a couple times but when I open a list (geocache, waypoints) it has shown red arrows for each item instead of letters (i.e. NE). I can't figure out how to get the arrows back. I've been all through the options. My GPS is just teasing me.
  19. It's incredibly poor taste and selfish. It might not matter to you but a cemetery is a sacred place to many other people.
  20. I hate to encourage another crappy cache since my area seems to be the world leading in them, but a ziplock inside a tupperware seems to do very well at keeping the contents dry.
  21. You answered your own question. If thats a punishment, you've had a good life. Congrats! Let's imagine you have an activity you like. You spend $400 on equipment. You pay to be in a club (gc.com). Now because of some little lame problem you can only participate in 75%. This has happened in every activity I've done in the last 5 years. Mountain biking, fractured back ended that. Playing music in a band, wrist problems. Hiking, torn calf muscle. Nanos, can't manipulate them. I'm sure you will feel a little less sarcastic when this happens to you. But don't worry, I haven't given up yet.
  22. Wow you read my mind. I found my first coin yesterday and was wondering the same thing. I want to move it along but also didn't want to threw it into any ol cache.
  23. Found another nano yesterday. Just a few minutes before I had found another by the same owner. Regular size, cool stuff inside, notebook type log, great view on the water. Overall great cache. I took the time to write a little thing instead of just signing and dating. When I got to the nano it was understandable that it needed to be that small. I opened it and took a look. -sighed-. Thought, "If it try really hard I could get it out but there's no way these painful finger joints are going to be able to put it back." I closed it up, put it back, took a last look at the view and left. I don't care what the rules are or if the consequences are the loss of happy hour on Thursday nights, I just can't do nanos. I no I don't feel I should be punished because it's too small for me to manipulate.
  24. Is this game based on a micro-payment system for premium items?
