  1. No, it makes an EPS with a raster graphic embedded in it.
  2. Vector art could be another term. The artwork can be increased or reduced in size without effecting the quality of the image. In otherwods, the art doesn't have to be redrawn to fit a certain item. OH well I have no idea how to do that. Guess I'm out, good luck to everyone else! It would be great to see all the entries here even if the event committee is the only ones with votes. To clarify a little more for those that don't understand the different between vector and raster. Raster art examples are - JPG, GIF, TIF and PNG Vector are examples are - AI (Adobe Illustrator), DWG (AutoCAD) and CDR (Corel Draw) To explain WHAT the difference is, try this. Open a JPG you have on your computer in your favorite paint program or graphic viewing program that you can zoom in with. I use ACDSee for viewing, but MS Paint works for this purpose. Now, start zooming in. Notice how the lines are getting thicker and real jagged and "blocky"? This does not happen with a vector graphic, lines stay crisp and clear and the same width. Hope that helps. Oh, and taking a JPG and saving it as a vector format does NOT make it vector.
  3. I haven't seen much speculation on who it might be. Just the typical 'must be an airline pilot', or my thought, works for a company that requires a lot of flights. Er..I mean, I DO BELIEVE! I must, for I did get a coin, and it is the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything. What number did I get? 42? or was it 49? According to the Hitchhiker I have #100 myself Yes, 42 indeed. I haven't tried to get the answer out of the fairy directly, though I do wonder who it is. Perhaps one day (s)he will reveal themself. Or just let it fall into mystery, who knows. Of course, maybe the latter would be better. Come swooping in, spread some joy for others and then quietly slip away. (S)He is apparently not doing this for recognition but rather for the enjoyment of us, the geocoin community. Thanks again fairy!
  4. Maybe not, at least now without a royalty charge. Now use the royalty free "GX" logo and you're free and clear (of cling-ons? )

  6. But was the log signed in English or Italian? Is the fairy multi-lingual as well? I'm sure the tooth fairy and Santa and all others of their type are, or else how could they communicate with children all around the world?
  7. Ah, perhaps it was the Burgundy Wine Fairy you saw... Burgundy Wine Fairy
  8. I"m thinking seriously on this one. I know at least one other person in my area that IS going (hey Jake!) and another that is entertaining the idea as well. If the three of us carpool, gas won't be bad at all. Then it's room and food.
  9. (S)He seem to go in groups. Perhaps waiting for clearance on a flight plan? Maybe (s)he travels for business and thus only gets out when business demands. I don't know, but yes, it has been pretty slow again, so I'd guess for another rush of a few states soon.
  10. Nope I don't think so, it's all TGF can do to drop off the coin, pens are too hard to handle She's just a wee little thing after all . I believe there have been a few caches where TGF did sign the logs. Perhaps the more relaxed & secluded areas? Don't know, but I do believe there have been some logs signed, but not many.
  11. I second this one!! I'm not headed to WA any time soon, but if one were dropped in Phoenix, I may have to try to get to it...or as another stated, at least trade for one.
  12. And reports from Delaware now too. So two more states down..time to update the map again. Is (s)he going for the full 50? Playing a little geocoin state bingo? Hehe. Does (s)he get bonus points for foreign countries? This thread is too cool. I check it daily for new messages. And I have to say, it's the only thread I read do that for on a daily basis. Thank you Geocoin Fairy, whoever you are! You've brought joy to a lot of strangers and have asked nothing in return, not to mention remaining anonomyous. Kudos to you.
  13. Looks like there are only 15 states to go plus DC! Impressive! Looks like TGF may not be getting to those states. Awfully quiet recently.
  14. Florida Wonder how many different countries TGF will hit. How many is (s)he up to? Three? US, Canada and UK..amd I missing any? The Netherlands So four and counting...any others that anyone knows of? Guess we could just look at the profile eh? Heh

  16. Well, as was stated by another user, we threw around several ideas for names, and when it came to actually putting them up in the store, I was just excited to get them up that I call them Geocoins. We had ideas of Geowafers, Geotokens, and I think several other ideas. We had a whole thread named similar to this one. Obviously when I did add them, I just naturally called them Geocoins. They are round, they are metal, but I (we) agree, they are not coins per se. They are tokens, wafers, discs, etc. Thank you all for your feedback and kind words on them. Now, obviously when a cacher puchases them and places them in their caches (or other's caches) we can't control what they call them. Our intention was to provide an inexpensive alternative to the $5.00 per coin sig item, not replace the Geocoin. But I think I stated that in my last message.
  17. Yep, I know exactly who it is. You can contact them here. As a matter of fact, anyone can. They haven't been hiding at all.
  18. It seems the community thinks they should be called 'Tokens' as opposed to 'Coins'. This is an easy fix. We certainly don't want to step on anyone's toes and did not mean to imply that these were die stamped coins. That is why we were explicit in the wording of the description. They are 1.5" diameter, .050" thick, laser etched. I will head over now and change the name from GeoCoin to GeoToken just to make sure there is no confusion. As for trading value, I agree 100%. I would NOT trade one of these for a "real" geocoin in a cache. These are intended as an inexpensive alternative sig item to the high priced coins (which I believe is also stated in the description). 19. Kansas is the 'Great American Desert'? And here I though Southern Texas, New Mexico and Arizona were the desert "areas" of the US. I know of 6 coins in Az and at least 2 in Texas I recall. Don't know about NM. Enjoy your coin though, they are really nice!
  20. Congratulations! I can only hope my validating your child's enjoyment of the coin helped in TGFs wanting to get you a coin. And #2?!?! How cool is that? I found mine some time ago and got #42 (But who's complaining? We're "Mostly Harmless" right? ). It is after all the answer. Congratulations again. I'm sure your youngen' will be thrilled when the tooth finally comes out.
  21. (S)he hit Az again early this week. One coin picked up and logged, looks like the other disappeared. Cacher went to find it and said no coin, no logs. Love those stealth cachers, hit and run, leave no mark. Takes the fun out of it for the good cachers...and you lurkers know who you are! Play nice.
  22. I can vouch for the person and the child as I was the one with my Geocoin Fairy Coin. Their children enjoyed my small collection and pointed out several that they liked. I don't recall which coins in particular they liked, but they were told the Geocoin Fairy coin was a "special" coin, and that may have stuck. Sorry about that "X". I certainly didn't mean to cause any heartbreak in the kids. Best of luck to you on getting your hands on one. Damenace, that is an awfully kind gesture, you are to be commended.
  23. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Korey has the GPS and cachin' in South Korea. Anyone have a GPS I can borrow? Sure swing on into Phoenix and you can borrow one of mine. Hey, it's closer than Korea!
  24. Has the fairy slowed? Seems like there's not much happening in this thread... I'm really enjoying reading it.
