  1. Thank you for your help. I will select not collectable on my first trackable. I watched the video in the link on how to set up a trackable but they don't mention it. Thanks for the replies.
  2. Hello, I am new to the trackable world. I just bought two trackables. I activated one , it all went smoothly but I don't understand the choice between " make this collectable " and " this is not collectable ". I want it to travel between any caches and anyone can take it on its little journey. I did a search on this forum and I didn't see anything. I must have missed it because its probably explained somewhere. I am hoping someone can in very simple terms ( I am not overly bright ) explain what the two choices mean. Thank you.
  3. Not sure if this will help but. I have a iPhone 3Gs and bought a Garmin 60CSX and a Garmin 62s. I started with my iPhone and the $9.99 geo app. The phone is ok but the problems I found where poor battery life and very slow to refresh. I got sick and tired of walking past GZ only to have the iPhone catch up and show its behind me. I bought a 60CSX from Costco because it was only $219 and I figured the lack of paperless caching would be ok because I have a iphone to look up stuff. Ya, that proves to be ok, but kinda a pain going between the two. So I bought the 62s and compared all three. The iphone will get you there finally when it catches up. The 62s did a better job in my opinion of getting closer to GZ than the 60CSX. Not having to keep the GPS flat to read the compass also proved helpful on the 62s. The paperless caching works well on the 62s and had me going to the iPhone less and less. I didn't intend to return the 60CSX when I bought it and I know its kinda a sucky thing to do to retail stores but I retuned the 60CSX and primarily use only my 62s and am very happy. So ya, the long and short of it is, if you think you will be doing this for awhile, invest in a good GPS.
  4. thank you all for your help. I have been to all the stores that carry GPS's in my city. Had a look at them all. Unfortunately no one has the Oregon 450 to look at. I do have the iPhone and I did buy the $10 app that lets me load cache info. I agree that paperless in a GPS would be better but I also agree with Sviking that its not $200 better. I am going with the GPSMAP60CSX for now and then pass it down to my son in a year or so if we are still doing this at the rate we are doing it now. Thanks again for all your help.
  5. Thank you for your help. I think paperless would be better. A larger screen would be better. I am not a huge fan of touch screen but have it on my iPhone. I am leaning towards the GPSMAP 60CSX. Its 1/2 the price of the 62s and cheaper than allot of the other models I have found around me. It seems to get good reviews and i am guessing it being a 4 ish year old model won't make too much difference in how well it gets a signal? Thanks again for your help.
  6. Hello. I am using a iPhone 3GS and its ok. I have nothing to compare it to, but it seems slow. So I figure why not buy a GPS. I like the looks of the Garmin ones. I have searched reviews and this forum. This question has kinda been asked before but here it goes. I have it narrowed to two units. GPSMAP 60CSX and GPSMAP 62S. I see that the 60 is older technology but here is my question. Here in Canada Costco has the 60CSX for $219 and Walmart has the 62S for $439. Is the 62s worth twice the money in your opinion? Thank you.

  8. thank you all for your help, it really does help allot. We went back to the cache that we think people watched us open. It was safe, all there and hidden properly. Thats a load off my mind. We also went back and retried to find the one we couldn't figure out. We found it right away this time. Its a cache that was staring us in the face. I don't know how many times I looked right at it yesterday. Its the first one we have found that was using a fake item to hide the cache in. Great stuff. We went on to find four more today. Thanks again for the help and the welcome.
  9. Thank you very much for your help. Yes, the cache we couldn't find is a micro. So we will look for small. We are going again today to try. I will go back to the one that I think we were seen at, just to make sure. I don't want us to screw it up for other people. Also reading my 1st post, it kinda sounded like we found the three in 15 minutes. I should have said each one was about a 15 minute walk to the location. We were out walking around for a few hours. The one we couldn't find we probably looked in the location for 1/2 hour. My son was on his computer last night for hours finding places he wanted to go look. Youtube videos. Some pretty cool hiding places. I was pricing out GPS's. Good stuff. Thanks again for all your help.
  10. Hello. My son and I started searching today for the first time. He is 15 and loved it. Good father and son thing. I am using my iphone 3GS with the app. I am guessing that I will be upgrading to a dedicated GPS, but really my iPhone has done well so far. I had no idea there were so many around. We found 3 out of 4 in a 15 minute walk from our house. I think i made some mistakes and will do better next time. I think some people saw us find one. I now see thats kinda not cool. They were older so I hope they didn't do anything with it. I also think I am writing too large when I sign the log. Is there any other things we should be aware of? We have added a little something to each find so far ( dice ). As for the one we didn't find, my son insists we go back and try again. It was found 7 days ago so its most likely still there. How small is micro? Anyways, I am rambling on, just saying hi. Thanks for any help you might give new people loving it so far.
