  1. I think I found the problem, there was one letter wrong on my new address. I hope, thanks.
  2. I changed my email address in my account, new provider. Now I'm being asked for a validation code. I haven't received it . I've looked for it in my email. How do I get them to sent it to me?
  3. I just checked and the owner hasn't logged a find since May5.
  4. I'd like to contact my approver for help getting caches approved in our area. I need help with our local park district. He once wrote they were cooperative. I've had no luck, and no answer from the district. How do I know how to contact the approver for my area?
  5. How long are caches left on the cache pages as temporaily unavailable before they are dropped? This was posted on April 4 as an example. Checked on cache today and found that the park district had done some thinning to the woods and apparently uncovered the cache. It is missing and will possibly be replaced/relocated when I get a chance. This one has not been available for almost 5 months. The location is right in town.
  6. I am doing my geo caching alone most of the time. As soon as I get to know some other cachers I would like company some of the time. There will always be times when getting out alone is my first option
  7. It's still alot cheaper than a movie for me. Plan your route don't just drive to one. You should see when I use my motorhome. My other choice is to stay home, not.
  8. Why hide a cache in an acre of thorns? First, I know I don't have to hunt them. Second only people who do these hides can really answer the question. There is no skill in getting to them, you just push through the thorns and get scratched up. Once to ground zero there is nothing interesting. It looks the same in all directions. A reading of 20 ft is good so now the hunt is crawling around in a 20 ft circle of thorns and since you can't see to the ground I mean crawling. When you find the cache it is a container covered with a pile of sticks. I hate to miss any cache, I just want to know your reason.
  9. I want to place a cache and need to get approval. Their form asks for minutes and seconds. If my Gps said 41 39.001 and 88 03.604 would the converted be 41 65001 and 88 06006? What would I put in the minute and second box? If there is a thread send me to it. Thanks
  10. We have seen some pretty good size water moccasins while hunting the Heritage Quarry caches. It makes you think twice about turning over rocks. Snakes are one reason I carry a walking stick or cane to poke into holes.
  11. After I get the arriving at destination notice I switch to the navigation screen. When you get close and start moving slow the arrow can become erratic. On the navigation page I watch the distance to cache get smaller, than I move around until the coordinates match. I get really close even under tree cover.
  12. I have found several caches with problems lately. One the contains were all wet and there was an ant problem. Another the log was wet and moldly. Another the container was damaged. Another the last four people have recorded no finds. None of these people have answered my mail or posted a message on the site. Are these people caring for the caches or are these caches abandon? It would be resonsible to let us know what is happening.
  13. I usally don't use the hints, however, if I just killed myself bushwacking to the cache and made an honest effort I pull out the hint. I know I would probably not return. I've looked for one cache of a multi 3 times with no luck. Quess what no hint. I've always had trouble with his hides.
  14. I write more if the log book allows it. There are some great caches with poor log paper. In the middle of the woods it is hard to write on a soft log that is just backed up by your hand. I also use a stamp to put two cow faces next to my entry. My son just had twins and it is an inside joke.
  15. Noboby could make a mistake and not see these are super marbles. Even if they are really that mistaken, you take one item not 7 or 8. I'm really sorry I can't get a geo marble like these.
  16. My son saw a program about geocaching on TV. He sent my wife a GPS for mothers day. I bought another unit and that was it. We are having a lot of fun and visiting places we didn't know were there.
  17. I just found 2 caches in a very nice looking park. I know the area and would not be looking for the caches at night. You would never know there is a problem if you were from out of town. It would be a good idea if there is a problem to mention this in the cache page.
  18. I'm Polish if you don't want to use it your cache sent it me. I would l would love to have it. If you offer it as a gift and not as junk, I don't see the problem.
  19. I found a cache this week in a hollowed out log. It was covered in ants. The inside and contents were OK. It would have been a different story with holes.
  20. I bought a legend as a second GPS. I got it from Amazon.com. It was $133.00, I took their credit card and they knocked off another $30.00 on the first purchase. The shipping was free and no tax. If you are on a budget this is a cheap buy. If you don't stay with geocaching it would be easy to sell. You get the cable and 8m to work with.
  21. Read the opinions thread on this page.
  22. When in Florida at a certain beach shark teeth are a dime a dozen, but I think they would be appreciated as a trade in the Illinois.
  23. Well I went to http://www.poison-ivy.org/ as suggested. I don't think some of the guys know poison ivy as well as they think. I know it has 3 leaves, the leaves are broader at the base, and it (or poison oak) is every where we geocache, but..... They have pictures of PI that's red, green, orange, and yellow. PI with shiny and dull leaves, skinny and broad leaves. They show leaves that are smooth, with rounded thumbs, and notches. They have PI pictures as vines, creepers, and PI bushes. Look at the site and take the test. The treatments are even more confusing. If you have a treatment there will be statements that agree and disagree with you.
  24. Poison Ivy only spreads if you spread the oil. Its good practice to wash exposed areas of your body with the strongest soup you tolerate when you get home. Areas with strong exposurer develop the rash first. Areas with less exposure develop later, thus the spreading. I got a small touch on the wrist this year.
