  1. I'm not asking for a watch list as such, but for an icon such as the eyeglass that appears on caches we watch. Not any big long list as we can develop that for ourselves from the icon and a WORD.doc
  2. I have placed several caches by using benchmark locations with a directional and distance offset. This gives the searcher opportunity to log both finds and sometimes a Travelbug simultaneously. I also sometimes list nearby benchmarks on my cache descriiption. In my area we have a number of airial benchmarks (top center of stacks and water tanks) to make easy finds. I get excellent remarks from some of the locators in their logs and by e-mail. This has started some into benchmarking.
  3. There are two national parks in the Texas coastal bend area and both have virtual Geocaches. One is at the visitors center as there are items to be reported. The second is at a popular birding view station. Rangers in both parks know they are there and allow if not acively approve.
  4. I also have a GPS315 in good condition and with book, mounting bracket, and dual PC/ vehicle power cable. Asking $80.00.
  5. I have asked the power-that-be if it is possible to place a watch icon on the found posts of searchers who add the bug to their watch list so we owners can know who is watching our effort. The reply was a request to post this here. Bro_ray (16) travelers
  6. You may claim your Tbug and then deposit it in "Travel Bug Graveyard" (GC72A8). It may later be reclaimed and the duplicate tag used for a replacement traveler if you so desire. Bro_ray
  7. My traveler "Little Brown truck" started in Corpus Christi Tx, and after traveling some in USA flew to England , landed near Wales and is supposed to be on its way to near Glouster. My 16 Tbugs have goals in a brothers caches in Lewisville Tx and Moline Il. One is now in Ill and he just removed one from the Tx. location. Bro_ray
  8. Is it important to log your visit? No-o-o-o Is it fun? Ye-e-e-s I have found that several of the log books in my caches have more visitor entries than show on the web site. It doesn't matter to me if you don't get credit for your visit, but the only way to play the numbers game in Geocaching is to get back on your computor - go to the cache page - LOG YOUR VISIT. Doing that adds to the sport and is informative to others. Bro_ray
  9. To the best of my knowledge the GPSs are accurate to within 15-20 ft. For this reason I always try to get a reading directly on the cache. Recently I hid one and my coordinates were off by about 30 ft. due to not waiting for my GPS (GPS315) to average out. I was criticized by the first visitor. The second could not find it. I also moved this cache 2 times because of vandalism. It is on the beach and now over a dune. This caused some confusion because searchers were working from the original notes. Here in Corpus Christi we have a virtual cache that says you need a sundial to experience it. When I found the coordinates to be on the sea wall overlooking the bay I commented to the placer. He said to get a sundial -- the coordinates are N/A for this site. Who needs this sort of flimflam? Bro_ray

  11. I print my own business cards using Printmaster (other programs are available) and I customize one for each of my sites. I also have an "I have visited you" card I leave in caches I find. Using Avery card stock they are adequate and I find them disappearing pretty fast from my sites. For my caches I give the name, geo coordinates, date placed, My name, and the Geocaching web link. (yes, this does mean revisiting the cache, but you should anyhow.
  12. I seem to have logged for the watch list twice (2) times on some of my located sites. This causes 2 messages from Geocaching when a site is visited. How can I change my site notification? Bro_ray
