  1. For the life of me I can not find the spot to make sure my membership does not automatically renew. Does anyone know where this option is?
  2. Have a question about the distance that my TB has traveled. According to the TB Page it has traveled 133miles, but it has gone from Maryland to Orlando FL, which is at least 800 miles. Why the difference between what is being reported and the true distance?
  3. Awesome everyone... Good to know... I agree that this is a great way to sneak in education with him. He is in Kindergarten, and this is right up his alley right now. Asking him to explain what he though, and explaining stuff when we are searching for the caches, such as plants, trees, shoot, just nature in general. And he is also learning about rules and such. He has wanted to keep a couple TB's for himself but he has to follow the rules. He didn't take them. But now that he has made a TB himself he is understanding the idea and purpose. This sport is a great way for me to be able to spend more time with him. Sending a big thank you to everyone that caches, thank you for making Geocaching what it is today. FUSE
  4. Ya know, it wasn't till I started reading these forums that this question popped into my mind. Here is what we do, let me know if it is ok. My son (5 years old) and I go geocaching as much as we can, we are newbies. Normally I will see where the cache is but won't actually go and uncover it. I will try and hint to my son the general area of where the cache is and then he will find it. He gets really excited after finding a cache. Well I made a Geocache account for him as well and whenever he finds one I log it for him, and I log it as well under my account. So far he has 9 finds I believe. So, does anyone see any problems with us doing this?
  5. Here is a site that has all you need to know about the Geocaching acronyms. http://home.earthlink.net/%7Eprime.suspect/geolex/
  6. Hey there Airmapper... Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I didn't get on the forums the last week or so. Here is a copy of what I emailed another fellow Geocacher on how I did it. "This was put together in about 30 - 45 minutes. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do as far as camaflaging the container till I got in the woods and started working. It was extremely easy. I knew that I wanted it to look like I log but wasn't sure how I was going to accomplish that. Basically all I did was this. I had a couple extra tubes of Liquid Nails sitting around the house. So I brought those to the woods and then started working. I just glued large pieces of bark around the sides of the container hight wise - up and down. Then for all the areas that the bark pieces did not cover I rubbed glue over the areas then rubbed dirt and crushed up leaves into the glue. Let it dry overnight and then did the glue and dirt/leave thing again the next day on any area's that I missed. Total time was 30 - 45 minutes max." See your Avatar and name, guess you fly? I'm in flight school now, have 26 hours logged in a R22. Flying is the best thing I have ever done and hope to be doing it for the rest of my life. Fly safe...
  7. LOL!!! You a funny guy, FYI everyone, this is my caching buddy.....
  8. Awesome, I'm all setup now. Thanks....
  9. What is the subject line of the emails that get sent out? I want to setup a rule so I can get notified on my phone but don't want to wait for me to get my first notification for obvious reasons.
  10. Thank you very much. I'm setting up my subscription now. Thanks.....
  11. So I placed a cache last night and it got approved this morning. Well right away it seems people got notified that it was there and they were searching. Found within the first hour or so.. So to my question. How can I get notifications when a new cache is placed. I have the check box to get weekly notifications but it seems that this isn't what they got.
  12. Thanks everyone for the compliments. Good to know that this is OK. The white showing through was a learning process. I know now that my future ones will definitly be painted before I start putting all the camo on. And it's not finished yet. The glue was still wet so I couldn't add any more dirt and such. Today it should be dry enough that I will add more to try and cover up the white even more. I hope that it will stay water proof, I had to adjust the lip so it wouldn't be so hard to take the lid on and off. I'm going to be placing this one close to home so I can do a lot of maint. checks. This is going to be a learning cache for me. For how I did it, very easy, used liquid nails and just glued pieces of bark all the way around, then where the bark didn't cover and put glue all over and attaching each piece to each other, then rubbed old leaves and dirt into the glue. I'm real curious to see how it hold up to the weather...
  13. I think I'm ready to place my first cache. I have only 36 finds right now and haven't found anything like the container I want to use. I bought a 2 gallon paint bucket and made it look like a log. Think this will be OK to use?
