  1. <snip> Now, really, how hard is it to click on "View Past Trackables" or click on the links to the trackables still in the cache? In addition, the owner gets a notification when the trackable is moved. A "bit harder" is worth the trade-off, IMHO.
  2. You can also delete your "note" after dropping off the trackable. The trackable will still be shown in the cache and your "note" won't clutter up the cache page. That helps people who have apps that download the last five logs and really don't want to read about your bug drop.
  3. Yeah... That's REAL easy to know that you have to select "leaflet"! Not exactly intuitive! Give the guy a break! He was just asking, and that IS what this forum is for, isn't it?. "How Do I....?" +1
  4. Silly me, I thought the subject of this thread was "Found it = Didn't Find It".
  5. Make sure you are entering the coordinates in the same format as requested on the cache pocket query page, i.e. dd mm.mmm, not decimal degrees or degrees, minutes and seconds.
  6. Make sure you have "By Coordinates" checked under the "From Origin" section when you enter the coordinates for the search, otherwise it will default to your home coordinates.
  7. I find myself wondering if the OP is just curious about our opinion or is actually considering holding such an event.
  8. Yep, I can see that would be a real bummer. REALLY?
  9. If you put a proximity alarm on the waypoint and set it for 0.1 mile, a dotted red circle will show on the GPSr screen
  10. A year and a half later and still hasn't returned to do the other four parts.
  11. Search by name, not closest. (Find/Geocache/menu/search by name) The UK is too far away to be found when searching for nearest caches.
  12. Actually, you could load the old Non-NT version of CNNANT onto two devices. Up to, and including, CN NT v8 there were two unlock codes available. The maps on the second unlocked unit could not be updated, however. I found that out the hard way.
  13. With proper maps, almost any mapping handheld will show that you are on a river. I don't know of any that will actually route, following a river.
  14. I will never understand how one can walk in the woods and not see something of interest - just walking on to the next geocache with blinders in place.
  15. Yes. The quickest and easiest is the "Send to GPS" button on each cache page. You will need to download and install Garmin Communicator (free). You can also click on the .loc or .gpx button to download the information to your PC and then use EasyGPS (also free) to send it to your GPS.
  16. Were you doing a goto to the waypoint? Prior to version 2.71 I had complete stickies along the lines of 100 meters or more... I haven't been doing gotos. I just head out on the trail and expect the geocaches to be there on the map with multiple caches. Maybe I'll have to list them on a sheet of paper in the order they will be in and do a goto for each one, one at a time. I'll try that and see if I have better luck. Dave Etrex30, 2.73, 4gig microSD, running north-up, GPS sats with WAAS on No need for the paper. Find/Geocaches, "find nearest".
  17. You'd think this applies to all parking lot caches, no? Excuse me....... would you please be so kind as to show me where in the OP anybody said anything about a parking lot? I see "old abandoned furniture center", I see "It's huge", but I must confess that I never saw that he mentioned a parking lot. I was addressing the question as posed. I guess maybe you read that assumption into my response, eh? A huge abandoned furniture center without a parking lot. That explains why they went out of business.
  18. You'd think this applies to all parking lot caches, no?
  19. Since the Extrex H is serial interface only, he may be needing to update the software on a serial to USB converter. That would likely be found at the manufacturers web site.
  20. I agree, most of the time it is a mistake for that reason.
  21. I've read, but can't confirm, that Garmin brand USB cords are not wired the same as generic USB cords. I've had problems using other cords with my Garmins, but never had problems using a Garmin cord. Could be your GOSmap cord is wired the same way. Not so. I've used my 76CSx(60CSx in a different case) with many different generic USB cords without incident. The newer generation of Garmin units may be different.
  22. Update what? If you mean the system software, it sounds like you tried to do it the correct way with WebUpdater. Try downloading a new USB driver from the Garmin site (Here). If you mean updating maps, you probably are thinking of mass storage mode (main menu/setup/interface), but a card reader would be much faster (if you have a microSD card installed).
