  1. Upon further review, you are correct. The CO posted a note to his cache, so I received this notification as a result because it is on my watchlist. (I knew there had to be simple explanation . . . thanks.)
  2. I just received an email that started out "You are receiving this email because this listing is on your watch list. Visit the web site to change your watchlist settings." If I am receiving this, then somehow the CO was able to access the watchlist and e-mail me because I was on it. This would be contrary to what has been discussed in this forum previously. Thoughts?
  3. Thanks for all the sugggestions and stories and evil plots to get a new GPS unit. Anyway, I peformed a firmware update and cleaned the battery terminals. I strolled out the the end of the driveway with it and the accuracy was down to 6 - 8 feet! I've rarely seen it below 14 and usually it was up around 18 - 22. While I haven't field tested it amongst the trees, if this is any indication of things to come, I'm one happy clam. Happy trails to all! (Now I don't get to drop it off a cliff, though.)
  4. We’ve been caching now for over three years. Our GPS unit had led us faithfully to over 600 finds, some through thick tree canopies or heavy cloud cover. Lately, our GPS unit seems to have difficulty with even light cloud cover or even with the trees before they had leaves on them. This weekend it could not latch onto a reading on a sunny day (but in pretty heavy trees). That’s never, ever happened before. So my question is, “Can GPS units fade/lose their effectiveness at some point in time?”
  5. We've been approached by cops twice. Once on a rural state highway, checking to see why we parked on the side of the road. The second time was in a wealthy Milwaukee northside neighborhood (doin' the Witches House). Both times, they were clueless about geocaching. Both times they accepted the explanation. What surprises me is that law enforcement agencies don't train their personnel to be aware of geocaching because it does put all of us in peculiar places at peculiar times.
  6. The invaluable feature that is missing is the automatic refresh whenever you move left, right, up, down, in or out. That feature is great for quickly finding caches along a route you are taking. Hope it comes back
  7. I log into geocaching.com on multiple computers. Ever since the new google maps have been added (which I like alot) I can only access them from one computer, the first one that I accessed the maps on. When I try from the other computers I get a lengthy error message saying I have to register on google maps to access the maps. I tried and it didn't get me in. Any suggestions?
  8. I'm a first-week Geocacher (newbie as I've learned it's called). Looking to buy a GPS unit and have narrowed it down to the Magellan Explorist 200 and the Garmin Etrex Legend. One big difference is the Legend interfaces with a PC and the 200 does not. What are the benefits of this feature? Any other comments on these two models are welcome.
