  1. Yep, working on a list. It's going to take some re-research to remember specific finishes and LEs, etc. I can't believe it's been so long, lol! Almost all of our coins are trackable, as I was trying to keep up with SE Michigan cachers who had fabulous icons that I also wanted, lol! Then I just started collecting for the sheer variety of coins and cool icons were gravy. We have some non-trackables, but not many.
  2. Ok, thanks! It seemed a few years ago that there were not many listings on ebay, so I wondered if that was no longer the place to sell. I have noticed more listings so I plan to slog through and see if any like ours have been up for sale lately. I haven't seen Crakes go much higher than purchase price, which really surprised me, but I haven't been researching very long this year.
  3. Hi! I haven't been on here in ages. Hubby and I were quite active in caching and especially coin collecting until about 5 years ago when we adopted two foster kids. Now we have no time, energy, or money for it and have a really nice collection, mostly from 2006 and 2007. We want to sell our collection, at least the unactivated ones. I haven't been encouraged by some of the prices on ebay..... So where is the best place to sell in order to get the best price? I wanted to hand our coins down to our kids, but we can't afford to hang on to them any longer and need to get fair value for them. Appreciate input and suggestions! Thanks! Kim
  4. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hubby just picked up saturday's mail and said, "um, honey, what did you order from the UK?" My reply: "Huh?" Sure enough, he hands me a bubble mailer w/ no return addy - just postmark from the UK. I'm wracking my brains to try to remember "did I reserve a coin or something a while ago? No, I don't think so." But there is definitely a coin inside! Trying really hard to contain myself and not damage anything, I carefully TEAR INTO the package, lol! It's a Rainforest Jewels coin!!!!! OMG it is more beautiful than in any photo I've seen! The note says "a wee gift from the Highland Geofairy". We never dreamed anyone would be so kind and generous to us! THANKYOU THANKYOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Highland Geofairy!!!!!! You rock and you totally made my day! I'm in tears as I type this - what a very kind thing to do for us! Thank you!
  5. congrats, geok!!!! can't wait to hear your excitement when you get your coin! geo.error, what a wonderful thing to do for somebody!
  6. sadly, we don't. so now hubby has put the brakes on coinspending for nonspecific amount of time.
  7. no mystery coin here.. thanks for the cointest!! VERY kind of you!
  8. hi, czarbucks! First, I just want to say "it's nice to meet ya"! And please don't feel like you have to lurk - I know I love to meet new friends! Second, I know you will get a lot of different opinions on this, but here is our approach to coins. We don't have a lot of money and for this reason have chosen not to set coins out to travel. Not saying AT ALL that everyone who releases coins has money - just stating that we don't and we would be crushed to have a coin stolen. I admire the people who are able to let theirs go! We, like you, love moving coins and bugs. We, like you, are highly motivated to find caches that have coins in them. That's one reason we admire people A LOT who set theirs out to travel. In our logs, in fact, we usually thank the coin owner for setting theirs free in the wild. Personally, the only way I would set a coin out to travel is if I had bought more than one of that coin. Like you, it makes me sad to have to deface a beautiful piece of art just to keep morons from taking it. I guess our coins are more of an emotional and financial investment and so we would really be devastated to have them stolen. Our coins do spend a lot of time in our collection, but we mostly love taking them to events to share with other cachers. I'm way too chicken to let them go. There are a lot of really really nice traveler coins out there that don't cost a lot of money (less than a travel bug) and so maybe that would be one route you could go if you still wanted to release a coin. we are working up the courage to do that! Anyway, I'm really sorry that happened to you. I hope somehow your coins show up again.

  12. What super coins and a really generous cointest!!!! Awesome job, MRJIFFY!!!!! I've got my fingers crossed that one will make its way to SE Michigan! Here's my dumb question for the day: is it possible to watch these coins to know when one comes to the area? If so, how?
  13. Got a BN GeoPuppy with glitter collar today!!!! OMG it's beautiful! Thanks SO much, Fluttershy!!!!! You totally made my day!
  14. Wow, what an awesome thread! This is why I love this forum so much. Coiners are the MOST wonderful and giving folks! I love the idea of sending coins to others - great idea to suggest they not have to be HTF ones, as I'm sure many of us don't have any, lol! But I'm certain we all have Hope to share! Giant Kudos, 2-Bring-Hope!!!
  15. We haven't been able to buy many coins for a while (shouldn't buy any, so I don't even go to any coin sites anymore) and have been hesitant to come to my favorite forum - heck the Geocoin Discussions is the oNLY forum I go to - for quite a while so I don't get tempted or envious. Anyway, I was going to post right away that one of my heart's desires was for Rod to get a YIME but I see he finally got one!! Yahooooo!!!!! Conga-rats Rodman and kudos LindsyChris for your generosity!! Rod, I hope I hope I hope you will have it with you the next time we see you! i don't know a lot of what is out there anymore, but I really covet: Fluttershy butterfly either teal or pink Crake Suncatcher cool to keep my warm company Earth Turtle 2007 Rainforest Jewels any JEDI mystery coin!!!!!! Any mystery coin!
  16. Oooooh, congrats to kdv and ClanDoyle! I can't wait to read about the coins' adventures!! Also can't wait to see the pics!! Hey ClanDoyle, maybe your wife would give a camera addict some tips on shooting scenery?? Have fun, and thanks for this great idea, tsun!!! Since we can't afford to leave MI to vacation this summer, we'll live vicariously through the coins!
  17. i don't have a trade list, but i'm going to scrounge and see what I would be willing to part with...... probably nothing that you don't already have, lol! i'll keep my fingers crossed, tho, and will email as soon as i can!

  20. How many of us carry Leatherman-type tool when we cache or place caches? Seems like a lot of us do..... and seems to me like a teeny tiny one as a TB isn't a vicious threat, but rather more like an homage to a typical caching tool. Agree or disagree with that, BUT the fact in this case is that the TB owner, Skrip, is one of THE nicest cachers one could ever hope to meet along a trail or anywhere else. He goes out of his way to help others, offers encouragement freely and frequently, and would be the last person to set up a cache or send a TB to purposely hurt, anger, annoy, or cause potential injury to anyone. Our family has been extremely lucky to be able to cache with him and seek much advice from him (and yes, we have a young child who absolutely adores him - and he has gone out of his way to do special things for our son). Whoever made the comment about extra caching karma points - you have no idea how right you are. We've seen him be kind and generous to cachers that make us want to pull our hair out! Skrip is a very good person and the negative comments made about him were completely unfair and mean-spirited. He deserves his property back and some apologies.....

Chris, all of your coins are simply breathtaking, some of our MOST treasured... this one appears to be no exception! Awesome!!! kim
  22. Well, according to hubby I'm not allowed to purchase any more coins other than the clubs we belong to (and cut down to only one per club....) HOWEVER I'm pretty sure he will change his mind when he sees this! We were kids when this happened, but do remember. Will always remember. Mr. Kyk is very intrigued by all Great Lakes history, shipwrecks, lighthouses, etc., and MOST especially the Edmund Fitz. He has been to Whitefish Point and we are hoping to be able to go together very soon. Now I wish he would hurry home so I can ask him to buy this coin!!!!! kim
  23. been away from the forums for too long and just saw this. i'm SOOOO sorry to hear about your dog. I know how it feels to lose your best four-legged friend. {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}} It's hard and I hope you are taking care of yourself. Not easy with all you have going on. hang in there. congrats on graduation and travel plans! Yellowstone is one of my favorite places on the planet. Hoping to take mr. and mini there someday. in the meantime..... if you want to share pics when you get back, i know we'd all love to live vicariously through them. kim
