  1. If anyone else is interested, I use Cachemate and have created a new category to get around this problem. Keep in mind that I don't go on 100 caches-at-a-time run, but I have sometimes got up to 10-20 in the course of a few days. Anyway, I have added the category of "Found & Logged" in Cachemate in addition to the standard "Found" default. So when a cache is marked as found in Cachemate the cache is moved to the "Found" category automatically. Then when I get back to a computer, I can find the caches that I need to log under "Found" and then I move them to "Found & Logged" for future reference. I hope that made sense -
  2. Palm is sold and shipped - thanks for the interest!
  3. The connection is serial - if the first buyer falls through I will let you know if the unit is still available.
  4. Sale pending - thanks for looking and I will post/close topic once sale is final!
  5. I am selling my Palm M105 in perfect working condition. As shown in the photo, I am including the following items: Palm M105 Craddle Kodak PalmPix Camera - take pictures with your Palm of your cache find 2 covers - Factory black and Palm silver Kodak Case - holds Palm, PalmPix camera, credit cards/ID, pen, spare battery, and stylus Palm flip-cover Documentation and CD's with drivers This is an excellent setup for paperless caching - the M105 is easily read in the sunlight, has 8MB of memory for caches and photos. Also, this Palm will store your addresses, datebook, etc. After checking out Ebay auctions I am thinking around $35 for the whole package, plus shipping (USPS Priority Mail with tracking - $5-$9 depending on your location). Post here or send me a message and thanks! Kevin
  6. D'OH!! I feel stupid, I forgot about that - I've been doing PQ for quite some time now, but missed that this time. Thanks for the help!
  7. I just noticed that when I create and save a PQ even if I select specific cache types (traditional, virtual, etc) my PQ returns all types of caches. Must be a glitch - all of the other attributes (unfound & active caches) that I select stay saved. Anybody else experiencing this problem?
  8. Item is sold - I'd close the topic if I could figure out how...
  9. I use a Cabela's gear bag (pictured below) that I got free when I ordered something a few years back for my Geobag. This bag works great with several pockets I can store swag, small can of bug spray, basic first aid kit, pens/pencils, PDA, etc. It also has a mesh, zippered pocket on top that works well to hold the GPSr for storage or when I'm not close enough to hold it in my hand. I keep this bag close at hand and does not take any additional work when the caching bug bites! Grab and go If there is a significant hike involved I'll unload some necessities into my Camelback backpack.
  10. Alright, last chance before it is off to Ebay. Since I will have to pay fees to list and sell on Ebay I will settle for $15 shipped. Any takers? Please contact me ASAP if interested.
  11. I have an E2 which was an upgrade from the E because I couldn't stand the poor battery life of the E. The E2 is slower when loading programs and returning to the home screen than the E I am assuming due to the non-volitile (sp?) memory. The battery life is amazing, especially compared to the E and the screen is much easier to read in the sun than the E. I have had trouble getting mine to work with SD memory cards; it will read the card, but it always tells me the card is locked (write-protected). I tried 3 different SD cards and gave up. Palm told me I needed to send it back, but I just bought a 1GB multi-media card instead which works fine and actually runs faster than the 1GB SD cards that I tried. Cachemate runs fine along with all of my other programs/games. It does have Bluetooth, but I've never used it. HTH
  12. BUMP!! I will consider offers...please contact me.
  13. I got a better deal on some software if I purchased it with the National Geographic TOPO! Streets and 3-D Expansion Pak upgrade. However, I already owned it so I have this extra copy still sealed in the package. This expansion makes TOPO! so much better and even more useful when planning trips. I am not trying to profit from this sale, just recoup some of my cost. I will sell it for $20 shipped to the US via USPS. I did some price checking and this program seems to sell for around $20 now plus shipping. Please respond or contact me directly with a PM or email if you are interested. Thanks!!
  14. I am not sure if there is a program to help you here, but you could upload all waypoints to Mapsource first. Then delete all in the GPSr and selected ones that you've uploaded to Mapsource. Finally send the edited list of waypoints back to your GPSr using Mapsource. FWIW I generally delete all found and unfound caches from my GPS prior to loading new ones (using the delete all points of a selected symbol) to avoid the duplication problem. After all of the Geocache points are deleted, I use GSAK to upload a fresh batch. HTH
  15. Cool, I just got an email that I won! http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2006/07/...s_the.html#more]July 14th[/url]
  16. FWIW I googled United States Geographical Surveys West of 100th Meridian and got this page which has an image of the original map. 1878 Progress Map I also took a drive in the area where the Richfield monument is supposed to be yesterday. The area is pasture fields on private property. I scanned the fields with binoclulars from the road, but could not spot anything. If we can get updated GPS coordinates to narrow-down the area maybe I can get permission to do a more detailed search. Keep all the good knowledge-building info coming! EDIT: Using the DEFLEC99 program and the formula's given on the link I have recomputed the Richfield coordinates as N38 46' 11.04", W112 02' 30.33" - I will try to get back out and see what I can find.
  17. Ditto - thanks for the info!! I've been turning my map sections off one-at-time which was very annoying and cumbersome.
  18. I find this discussion very interesting and since this is near me I'd like to try to locate some sort of mark. If your book has any more info on this location please share. Thanks! EDIT: Alright, I pulled up the coordinates (NAD27) in Utah TOPO! and found something marked "BR" in the general area. In my experience the standard benchmarks show up as a "BM" on these maps so could someone offer me some help in the BR designation. Is this the Wheeler mark or something totally different?
  19. I don't have a Venture Cx, but I know on my Legend C that for the special "Geocaching Mode" to work the uploaded waypoint (geocache) needs to have the Geocache symbol (closed treasure chest). I hope this help you.
  20. I hate IE too, but sometimes I still come across a website or function that won't work properly in Firefox and have to load it up in IE. Thankfully this problem is becoming less common and I usually send an email to the webmaster if the site is one I use frequently to ask for a compatibility update. However, just something to think about before totally uninstalling IE.
  21. Eww. That's almost as bad as the website that gives you the answers to some puzzle caches. I don't think so - sometimes nudge is needed to point us in the right direction before our brains can begin to function properly. As of now, I haven't used the forum, but if I am having trouble with a particular cache I can usually glean something from found logs to get me headed the right way - what's the difference? As long as there are just "nudges" to help someone find a cache and not an obvious give-away on the answer or cache location I think it is a good idea. Personally, as a cache owner, I would like my caches found rather than just causing frustration when a cacher can't locate it.
  22. As you are a Utahn, Utah Association of Geocachers have a FORUM for requesting hints on Utah caches.
  23. I was doing cache maintenance last year on my first cache and looked up to find a guy in a powered parachute hovering above me. Keep in mind, that this cache is about a mile off of a dead-end road in the forest. To say the very least, I was surprised that I had to worry about this muggle. I kept hidden in the trees the best I could as he kept looping back around above me.
  24. I haven't done it, but I understand that you need a PDA with a serial (ie slow) rather than USB connection. Also, your GPSr needs to also use a serial and not USB connection. It really sucks IMO that there is no way to link two USB devices. At one time, I read that there was a "USB On the Go" that was supposed to allow two USB devices to interact without a computer, but I am not sure what has happened to the idea.
  25. Hi all: I think I know the answer, but it doesn't hurt to ask right? Anyway, my Palm E2 is Bluetooth capable and I was wondering if it is possible to upload waypoints to my Legend C using a bluetooth adapter similar to the USB to Bluetooth adapters sold for printers. I understand the basics of the USB master/slave problems with connecting a PDA to GPSr, but I was wondering if these Bluetooth printer adapters would work since the printer is a slave device too. I look forward to a nice technical discussion. Overtaxed1
