  1. I just checked and $220 AUS is about $190 US Just an FYI
  2. If not in the forums, then WHERE?!
  3. Its certainly not an invasion of privacy to post images of someone's business card, especially when it was given to you (or left for you in a cache). In this case, all the personal and contact information has been obliterated and there is nothing to see but imagery (which is the way it should be...no free advertising for these people). I think the point is...there is an existing rule that caching is supposed to be commercial free with the exception of pre-approved ventures by Groundspeak (fair enough...their ball, their game). If EVERYONE were allowed to leave their business cards, this would be a community of ammo cans and tupperware with bumper stickers all over them and filled with with little rubber-banded stacks of business cards hidden in the woods and under lamp post covers. Of course, the bumper stickers would make the caches easier to find.
  4. Just a moment ago, there were five people logged in and 46 unregistered guests in the GPS section of the forums. Is that a sign of Post-Christmas newbs?! Welcome!!
  5. Go to their websites and find a mailing address. Send them a box with a note that says "Thank you for participating in the Fair Trade Trash Exchange Program" and send them a few days worth of garbage from the kitchen trash can in sealed bag. Make sure you place their business cards on the top of the bag so they can use them again.
  6. I have to agree with this one. Usually, it is best to get a dozen or more finds (at least!) under your belt before you attempt to hide a cache. It usually give you a better understanding of what is allowed and not allowed and it may even give you some good ideas. Concerning containers, I would just use any of the various "lock and lock" brand containers you can find at Walmart or Target and cover them with some camo duct tape from the sporting good section. Lock and lock containers are awesome and cheap!
  7. 1. Its not a crime or frowned upon to buy good gear at a good price on Ebay. 2. If you DO happen to get bad product and you have brought it to the attention of the seller and they refuse to help, there is a process in place for dealing with them through Ebay. Go to the site and read up on exactly what you need to do. For future reference, look at FOUR THINGS before buying: 1. The seller's number of sales. How long have they been there? Have they sold anything before this? If not, they can be a scammer who just creates a new Ebay profile each time he wants to unload something on someone and take their money. I don't buy from a seller unless they have at least a dozen sales and at least a few of them in the past, not all THAT WEEK or THAT DAY. The higher the numbers, the better. Power sellers don't sell tons of stuff by ripping people off. 2. Their seller rating. I don't buy anything from sellers with a rating below 98% or so. There are plenty of sellers with great ratings. Don't cater to the ones that have lots of known issues in their ratings. 3. The actual product you are buying. Make sure you read the entire auction and know exactly what you are buying. It is not illegal to sell non-functioning electronics as long as the buyer is made aware of it by letting them know in the auction description. (Ideally, in large, bold letters with asterisks all around it.) 4. The seller's return policy. Do they accept returns? If so, what are the terms and the time limit? Sorry you got ripped off. Hopefully the Ebay dispute resolution process can help.
  8. Those cards are for public motivational speakers, apparently, and are supposed to be charging people money to speak at their engagements and bestow their knowledge and insight onto the audience. It kind of lets me know what brilliant people they are by there willingness to either: 1. unwittingly drop their business card in every little nook and cranny they can find as if they were desperate for business and could not find work, or 2. actually KNEW about geocaching and its rules and just blatantly went against them because their agenda is obviously more important. Oh! There is also the possibility they were muggles that had no clue, happened upon the cache, read the cache page everyone prints to put in their cache and simply decided to leave their business card instead of muggling the cache. They might not be cachers! (Ooh! Now there is a good working title for a suspense novel about caching.)
  9. I'm in the final phases of creating a cache which I'll call "Let's Get Wet." Tests show it will be at 80 fsw. While this could be done on air with a single Al-80, Nitrox in doubles would be more prudent as vis is generally around 10 feet and a search could be somewhat protracted. Stay tuned. Cool!
  10. There are already "muggles" that log on to the site for free and create accounts just to learn the locations and go muggle the caches. I doubt any thug muggles would pay for a subscription just to learn more about geocaching so they could "muggle" more successfully. I just don't believe that is a factor of concern. (My two cents worth.)
  11. Those were different times...and the pirates didn't have much of a choice.
  12. Location of my mattress ful of money. Latitude: 72 Longitude: -40 (Decimal degrees) Latitude (DMS): 72° 0' 0 N Longitude (DMS): 40° 0' 0 W (Degrees, minutes and seconds) I have never trusted banking institutions so all my cash savings is stuffed into an old mattress. I always worried about the mattress but, thanks to Vinny and Sue's cache recording page here in the forums, I will never have to worry about my money again. Thanks!
  13. Oh, wow! You're 23 caches away. Be careful and do 23 more but save the 5/5 until you're healed! (That's what I would do.)
  14. Usually the cheaper ($10.00) ones do not work for the Legend but Radio Shack sells on for about $39.00 that does and you don't have to pay shipping.
  15. They actually CAUGHT the perpetrators at Enron and Haliburton. There could be some forest badger wearing your gold Rolex and you would NEVER find him!
  16. <sarcasm>Whoa, there! Lets not set out goals so lofty!</sarcasm> Why wouldn't you go ahead and write as if you intend to publish? You may be surprised with what you create. I agree! Many fine books have started out as a private project for the eyes of the writer only. I'd love to see what Tabulator32 comes up with. So would I, frankly. I'm certain I've had thousands of inspirations but I have the perseverance of a mosquito when it comes to writing and have never made it past a few pages into a story. I would do better to stick with my day job. Anyway, I'm sure there are tens of thousands of highly-publishable "manuscripts" sitting in dresser drawers and filing cabinets and book shelves which writers never considered allowing other eyes to see. I was just saying it is people like TwoCrow who see it through to the end and make it happen which have filled my childhood and my remaining rainy days with good stuff to read. On sunny days, of course, I go caching.
  17. ooh! Extra income potential for Groundspeak: Sell off the unique "custom" Waypoint names for those willing to pay an extra $10.00 at the time they get their cache submitted and approved.. GCROCKS - for a hide-a-key rock cache among a pile of regular rocks. GCWALMRT - the ultimate Wal-Mart parking lot cache. GCLPC - guess where THIS one is hidden! GCDEDRAT, GCFAKPOO - spoilers in a Waypoint Name? GCHARD1 - a level 5/5 cache
  18. I do believe, Mr. Roach, you have coined quite an interesting new word for Webster's...or perhaps the name of a new half-hour sit-com.
  19. You simply have to drive the Autobahn at least once and DO say hello to the Frankfurters for me! Sorry, I just couldn't help it after the comment you made in your other post.
  20. Didn't you just post to a thread agreeing with how caches get muggled all the time? Do you REALLY think this is a great way to hide valuables?!
