  1. I want to be able to download wherigos onto my phone. I'm not sure what apps can download Wherigo cartridges. There used to be an app called "Wherigo" but now it is no longer in the app store so I can't download it back onto my phone.
  2. I always use stealth, but if I'm caught I would probably tell them that I was looking for "the geocache" pretty straight forward so people will let you look instead of making you look suspicious.
  3. You don't say which paid app you are using (iPhone or Android) Help Center http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php Help Center - Apps http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.book&id=12 3.20. How Do I Use Pocket Queries on the iPhone App? http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=280 4.10. Using Pocket Queries in Android http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=461 B. I am using the Google Play app on my Samsung Galaxy phone! Thanks for your help. I get the corrected coords in "additional waypoints" now. Thanks!
  4. I saw it listed earlier this month. I also discovered that In NY events can only be listed up to 3 months ahead of time or 6 months if its a mega event. I also understand there was a process to make the Geobash a "Mega" listing so that it can legally be published earlier than 3 months before the date.
  5. Thanks! It is regional practice. Since some have are traditional or multi-cache with the "field puzzle" attribute and then in another area its mystery cache.
  6. If somebody logged your cache with a "needs maintenance" log then read what was written and then post an "owner maintenance" note stating the cache is now repaired/replaced ready to be found. If you did not assess the situation described in a needs maintenance log, do that first and then post an owner maintenance log to let cachers know you addressed the problem. If there wasn't a "Needs maintenance" log, you may be able to edit the attributes and seeing if unclicking "needs maintenance" is an option, although many people have put "Owner Maintenance" logs to let people know they checked on their cache and it is "ready to be found" "all up and running.." or something along those lines.
  7. If they are "Basic Members" then they won't be able to see any pocket query since Pocket Queries is a Premium Only feature. If I go on a trip Usually I create a "Bookmark List" at https://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/edit.aspx then copy the info I have for each cache into the Bookmark for each. The free version of the app only allows for finds that are traditonals and able to be viewed by basic members. So any cache that is a PMO cache they will not be able to see in the app either. I know Google Play charges $9.99 for the Geocaching App. There are suggestions from other members with similar or exact concepts.
  8. I have some pocket queries I have set up and would like to have them on my phone so that I can see them inside the app. Can anybody tell me how to get the pocket queries onto my phone?
  9. Since the cache appears to have already been archived by the owner. I would suggest creating an entire new listing based on the current circumstances rather than those from a couple years ago. That is if you have permission to put a new container as a "geocache" on the same island.
  10. If both adults found all the caches then it would be a good idea to manually log all geocaches the duo found onto one account. But if one adult found a few caches and then somebody else traveled alone, then that wouldn't be both people finding all the caches. Why should Mom and Dad have the same account if Mom never finds the caches Dad found on the mountain and Dad didn't find the lab caches during a Mega event!?
  11. For caches you want to download login on google chrome and then click the boxes next to the listings. of course if you see no boxes you would have to search in a different section of Groundspeak. A GPX file sent to your email might work as well. I'm sure other's suggestions are more informative then my current knowledge.
  12. The "long description" portion can take more than 500 characters. Only the "short description" is limited to 500 characters. When creating your own geocache's listing you will see it says: Long Description: Use this space to get creative! You can tell a story, give information about your geocache or add pictures. Also, sometimes people use some HTML coding which may take up some space to show an image or text in a different form so its not necessarily "text characters" but rather text that is featured on the page.
  13. I only saw one listing for a geocache that is a letterbox near your location. That cache page stated there was a "key" to be found in a certain place. I agree with the others who have advised you to reread the description.
  14. Sometimes I see listings for caches that need a puzzle to be solved. The cache itself is not listed as a Mystery cache? Anyone else wondering why this happens? Sometimes a puzzle cache is considered a multi cache. My question is, what would be the protocol for seeing a puzzle cache listing that is considered a multi, or a letterbox hybrid instead of a "Mystery" cache?
  15. I often go geocaching with my mom, but not always is she actually "finding" the caches. If she actually saw the cache and knows the location it was found in (whether I spotted it or she spotted it OR we both spotted or somebody else spotted it - doesn't matter) then she logs the cache as a "find." I would hope that groups are not logging all the caches found for each person unless each person physically saw the location without staying in a car all day.
  16. 1. Is there going to be a Allegheny State Park Geobash in 2016? I haven't gone before but It looks fun. 2. The "MOGA Event" is something that has gone on for years. Does each year have a theme? or is it also about "Cache Olympics"
  17. You can revisit a cache you've found for any reason. Just don't log a "found it" (log a "write note" instead) since you techinally already "found." If the cache is in good condition you can just say "revisiting this cache today, cache is in good shape, I took the tb." If the cache isn't in good condition, or you believe it is now gone send an email/message to the owner to let them know.
  18. If you are requiring geocachers to have a paid membership to the "garden" area, and/or having a very small range of days the area can be accessed, then the cache will not be approved. If you set an "Attribute" for "parking/access fee" and the organization with the "garden" will just charge a fee for visits (as in finding the cache): then the reviewer may be able to figure out a way for your cache to be eligible for approval.
  19. If you have a phone that detects location, you can download the "Geocaching" app. But depending on what store you use they will charge you a fee. Also, some caches are in parkling lots, and are letterbox hybrids, so if you do have the idea of where the cache could be, you could just go there and search in the reasonable spots without the coords.
  20. Sometimes, if I see that certain caches are close together I just make a bookmark list for myself. I also do not prefer the "cache along a route" method.
  21. I would post a reviewer note saying the cache is not in place, and make sure your geocache page looks like what you want it to say. Then put out the container and make sure the coords are the ones you want to use for the cache. Then "Enable" your cache so that reviewers know it is now in place and can publish it if it is approved for publishing. (Make sure you click "submit for review" as well if you haven't already).
  22. I've had a cache that took 3 days to be reviewed and three that took a day. And one where it took a few weeks because it was my first cache but then my mom and I finally had all the coords in place. Yes, it does depend on the reviewer for your area.
  23. Saw the listing, cache seems to be far away from me in Michigan, and also archived since the thread began. I would say not a lot of people went for it because they didn't have any reason to travel to Michigan.
  24. If the cache hasn't had maintenance performed on it in years, then I would tell a reviewer.
  25. If you posted twice, then the duplicate would've been deleted. OR if the cache owner thought you didn't find it and then realized you had, he/she may've asked a reviewer to re-instate it. I did have a cache where I deleted somebody's log, but he told a reviewer I had deleted it and his log was re-instated.
