  1. Here is the specific link if you didn't find it. http://www.parks.morris.nj.us/reservation.html
  2. quote:Originally posted by BassoonPilot: From the earliest talk on this project, I saw a price listed to reserve the pavilion. The price was for a Morris County resident. Has any action been taken on this? If not, are non-county residents able to reserve the pavilion? Yes I believe anyone can reserve the park at this point in time and I think the prices are the same. I am Morris County resident but not certain I can make these dates so I would not obtain a permit if I can't be there. Matter a fact, I believe permittee presence is required
  3. I also would ask that you put it back. I agree that if it is taken again then forget it. I was looking forward to a return trip. And as I said in some other post, even if I didn't find it I would have sat on the rocks and enjoyed the scenery and sound of water on the rocks. I know spookymike is a suspect but we don't know if he did it. Let's take him for his word, he is no longer geocaching.

  5. The rate that Stayfloopy and BassonPilot find caches is truly amazing! Congratulations to both of you.
  6. quote:Originally posted by faithwalker: Great idea, lets not try to make it to complicated. Keep it fun. My pick is 100=bronze, 250=silver, 500=gold, 1000=platnum. Or just pins with increments of 100. 100, 200, 300, 400 finds etc. Great idea though. ...Cache Responsible & may all your birds be in view... ...Faithwalker & DaMama... I like this suggestion. I hope someday to make it to the bronze star next to my name and buy a bronze geocache star for my hat or jacket.
  7. May is actually a fairly busy month for me. May 11 is possibility but May 18 is a No. Some can make it and some cannot, whatever date this will always be the case. Is it possible to change the topic title to NY/NJ will you attend?
  8. The cost for a park reservation varies by the number of people that the pavillion or picnic area can accomodate. Range from $25 to $100 and alcohol permit is an extra $25. Most summer time dates for pavillions are probably taken but for the early May time frame you may be able to get something. Certainly you can get a picnic area. For now I am mum on which park I have but once I am sure I want to do a special event geocache I will post it. The park currently does have a cache in it. I was thinking that mostly more local geocachers would come to mine if I do it but of course it would be open to all. This discussion is for a much broader area than I had imagined. quote:Originally posted by ptk: Orange, what park are you talking about? I am going to call the Morris County Park Commission tommorrow about prices and availability. I would like to have a get-together in a place where you can meet rain or shine. I thought a date within the first two weeks of May starting early in the morning. Since those geocachers with kids can leave How about having a quick secondary get-together after your family affair? Please keep sending your comments. It will be nice to meet as many cachers as possible.

  10. I am only into this geocaching thing for 3 months now but have had a great time and seeing many places in my home state I never have gone to. From reading logs I feel it would be great to put a face to some of these people. So Jungle Green and I had thought of a special event cache in the late afternoon after people had been out geocaching, they could stop by for picnic dinner and/or dessert. Jungle green and I have a Morris County park pavillion reserved for July 27 for a family affair but were thinking of getting the full day's value out of it and using it for a special event geocache after the family affair. Maybe geocache at 4:30 or 5pm That is a long way a way yet but it is a possibility. More to come later, sorry cannot guarantee anything yet.
  11. I agree that you need to find some before you hide one. I found about 15 before I hid my one and only one so far. I have found about 10 more so I guess I can hide another. My other thought: Is there a maximum that you should have? Some people in NJ have like 50 caches hidden. How do you maintain that many? And what about letting others have a chance to hide some too. I would not hide a cache in a park if it was too close to another or there were already several in it.
