Are there any geocachers going to Dayton this year?
I will be at the Hamvention and thought to have an event but since I don't have any coordinates except for somewhere out in the middle of the flea market I thought why not an informal invite.
So here is the deal. On Saturday afternoon from about 3:30pm I will be inside the Hara arena and will go up and sit at the top of section 21? (Hopefully, I seem to remember that being a meeting place I used one year.) Just look for the guy wearing an orange shirt or an orange geocaching hat somewhere in the upper seats of the Hara main exhibit (hockey) arena.
Any other Ham geocachers want to chat a little bit about geocaching and ham radio feel free to find me there. The more the merrier.
I will be on the road soon so I may not get back to the forums too many times before Friday but hope to meet some new hams and fellow geocachers.

Congratulations!
And onward to 2000.

Or should they be left in the cache ?
I sure hope some one takes my crayon eventually but it is hardly worth trading for. Since I just leave it in addition someone can take it with out trade.
If the signature item is more valuable then trade for it of course.

Congratulations!
Nice meeting and trading travel bugs with you this weekend.

People know who left it, but there is no marking. But I've seen other signature items that have the cacher's name on them.
As far as it being the only item you leave, that depends. If you are taking nothing, but just leaving your signature item that's fine.
If you are taking something nice and your signature item is something nice, then I'd say that's OK too.
But if you're taking something nice and your signature item is a screw, or a penny, or a single crayon, or a business card, or any other item of little value, then I think it's only fair for the person to add some additional items.

My crayon is always left in addition, I never consider it part of any trade. Just clearing that up. I know Brian knows that but just for every one else reading these forums. If I TNLN sometime I still left the crayon. But you won't find it in micros or other small caches. 98% of the time I have signed the log with it.

Congratulations!
Great meeting and talking with you at 3 separate event caches too.

I believe I had a similiar experience with this hider and a cache placed in an area most NJ cachers would consider Off limits.
A lot of these things were apparently made to move which I am not a fan of either.

Congratulations!

Congratulations and hope to meet you on the trails someday soon.

I log a find on my own events. I feel everyone who attends may log a find and comment on the experience. I don't feel that as the poster of the event you should be prohibitted from listing a find as an attendee.
This is the only type of cache that I would log as a find when I am listed as the hider. Nothing is hidden at the events I have gone to so the FIND isn't the same thing as other finds. It means you attended.

You might want to update that note that says the found caches might be back in February.
They obviously didn't make it by then. An updated estimate would be appreciated.
Without the found checkboxes I hardly use the map any more.
It was a great planning tool when it showed your found caches.
You could visibly plan a possible caching areas right from the map.

Congratulations
I knew you were close after reading your logs from this weekend. It was great meeting you and your crew again up there in Allamuchy.
Continued Happy Hunting.

When a new cache is placed in a virgin geocaching area how long should other cacher's wait before they put another cache within a mile of that new cache?
-
I know occasionally I have been guilty of this but there is that warning about spoilers. And now if I feel I am going to say spoiler type info then I encrypt the log. I would hope if I spoiled to much the cache owner would encrypt my log if they felt I went to far. If you unencrpt a log then you want to read the spoiler stuff.

You are on quite a pace. I can see another cacher about to blow past me in the finds.

Congratulations!
I still have a magnetic Geocaching button stuck to my cube at work that was left by you as a trade item up at a High Point cache.
It is a great item. Thanks.
