  1. I DNF if I've been there and looked for it, even if I couldn't find it cos a muggle was sat on it or the sheep looked at me funny  . I do this because as an owner I like to know how many people have visited the area specifically because of my cache, I think it gives a better reflection of how attractive the cache is.......if you get my meaning. :(

As a log reader I totally agree, When i read a log saying "Finally after 2 DNF's I found it ..." I feel cheated if I can't read the DNF stories in the log history :(

  2. Hi,

some time ago (2 years) I downloaded loads of caches to my tom tom.

I've since upgraded, and need to download them again, But I can't seem to find the right option.

Last time I downloaded hundreds in one click (split into a file for found, and not found), The best I can find now is download 10 from a search page, in a .loc format. tom tom needs .ov2 I think.

I'd love to download all the locations into the tom tom again, is it possible?

  3. Things looking good.

It may be that the first cache is places with the local ranger. Any experienced plastic hiders want to volunteer to undertake this mission? Not something I'd like to do, having no experience.

Nothing firm yet, but if you are interested in placing a cache in Billingham beck park, please let me know.

  4. Looks promising :D

Bill - thanks for your e mail. I am aware of geocaching and initially do not have any major concerns about this. I will have a brief chat with our legal team about this and come back to you but I do not envisage any major problems.

We would require you to contact each of our individual site managers for advice on placing caches as there are inevitably anomolies in sites - eg. leased land which may have its own conditions, seasonal flooding of various locations, temporary restrictions on access with regard to breeding, scheduled large scale felling operations etc.

Stockton Borough Council has a number of sites including three Country Parks, a number of urban parks and a range of Local Nature Reserves. I would initially intend to restrict this activity to outlying areas of the Country Parks and try to avoid drawing attention to people leaving designated access routes to access parts of our sites.

    Regards,

  5. Hi

When should I make a log as DNF?

Does it have a special meaning? If I just go looking and don't find the cache after a poke around is a note more applicable?

Does DNF signify I didn't find it, or something more serious, i.e. I looked for ages and I think it's missing.

    Thanks <_<
