  1. I found another one. . I didn't even know this one existed! 80/90 Westbound Cache
  2. One of my recent caches was approved within a couple of hours (approved at about 8:30pm) and then the FTF was an hour later at 9:30pm. That was quick!
  3. The worst cache I ever found just happened to be the first one I ever found. It was in a tackle box (not weather-proof at all!) and everything was very wet and moldy smelling. The cacher who placed it is no longer active and only has a couple of finds to boot. I found it in early spring when the vegetation was low, but in the height of summer it was in the middle of a briar field. The second worst cache was also wet and moldy smelling, and . . .you guessed it, in a tackle box.
  4. I've lived in South Bend for 10 years and I can tell you that SixDogTeam is entirely wrong!! We're nice people for the most part. . .and I didn't even grow up here! Team Tigger is right however, the Notre Dame game traffic is brutual, ridiculous, and annoying. I don't go anywhere in Mishawaka or near campus on game days! But the nice thing is South Bend and Mishawaka do seem to have a nice amount of caches, not only in those cities but reaching into Elkhart, Niles and Buchanan, Michigan, New Carlisle, and North Liberty area including Potato Creek State Park (which is my favorite local place for hiking). Our caching neighbors in LaPorte and Michigan City are also pretty active at finding and placing caches. The East Race in downtown South Bend is the site of several national kayaking events. Ok, several might be stretching it, I really don't know, but it was the site of the Pan Am games back in 19whatever. My opinion, stay out of Granger. Homes cost too much and taxes are too high.
  5. Hi Coastiegirl04, There's one Toll Road cache in my area. Indiana Wants Me, But I Can't Go Back There. I haven't visited this one yet though.
  6. I like to watch the travel bugs that have passed through my hands to see their progress. I have several on my watchlist, but it would be nice to pull up my watchlist and not only see the list of bugs but also their locations without having to click on each TB's page. Just a feature I'd like to see.
  7. Thanks for the reply. I guess if the cache owner reads the logs and so does the bug owner and still nothing happens, there's really nothing anyone else can do.
  8. I get tired of seeing seeing bugs listed on cache pages when the bugs were stolen or not properly logged out. Is there a way someone other than the bug owner can mark them missing?
  9. I didn't need the hint to find this cache, which is good, because as several cachers pointed out, the hint was pretty useless to them: Find the backhoe inventor and pace 5 paces West and 14 paces South. Eureka! Cache was in a cemetery.
  10. Moose Mob, is that photo from a pizza/beer place up in the Wisconsin Dells? Seen it!
  11. Thanks for your response, Quiggle. I knew from looking at other cache listings to note that it was on private property with permission. Although I know there's no real way to enforce it, I would list this as a daytime cache only. Finding a cache here in the dark would be very difficult because of the woods and extreme brush, including lots of briars. Yeah, a cacher's nightmare! But what I was really concerned about was what am I exposing myself to if someone gets hurt while trying to find a cache on my property? What if my resident wild turkey attacks someone? Or one of the deer that run through the place runs over someone? Or more likely, what if someone falls and sprains or breaks something? No Hunting signs will be posted but what if an illegal hunter shoots someone? I am liable? I know I'm thinking worst case scenario here, but these are questions my husband will probably ask.
  12. I am considering placing a cache on private property, my own private property, although not my home. I am concerned about liability issues and wanted input as to if we should do it. Although our land could be a cacher's heaven (more likely a nightmare though!) we are thinking of placing a cache relatively close to the edge, say less than 100ft in. I'm not too concerned about the neighbor since the cache will be at least 1/8 mile away and cachers will be instructed NOT to park on their land. Any things I should consider first?
  13. Ohhhhh, watch out Precious! Zoe-dog STILL thinks Patrick is cute! BTW: We placed two new caches today. One is approved, one still pending. But none of you are really in my area anyway. Oh yeah, welcome zammers!
  14. Ahhhh, I read it wrong, I see that now! Yeah, water resistant isn't the same as waterproof! Thanks for setting me straight. Someone mentioned Lock and Locks when a clear container is ok. I put camo tape on my Lock and Locks. Don't know yet how the tape will hold up in the long run but it definitely makes the container a lot less obvious.
  15. Did I miss something here? The container is waterproof yet it had a 1/2 inch of water in it? As mentioned already, I like ammo boxes (but I don't like opening them!) and Lock and Lock containers.
  16. I get bandanas from Hobby Lobby when they're on sale -- 88 cents regular price, I get them half off. My geocaching dog wears one so I figure some humans and other dogs might like one. Those always go in a ziplock bag. I also make I Love Geocaching bracelets from supplies I get at Hobby Lobby. Not sure what the cost is but it's probably under $1 each. Does take some time to make but I enjoy it.
  17. This one is listed in a cache in my area but it's really MIA. It lasted less than 6 months. Hope yours completes its mission! Wandering Eye Traveling Journal
  18. Boy, I'm glad this is too far away for me! Where is Waldo? is driving me crazy, but it's probably tame in comparison!
  19. I like to find caches -- don't really care what kind although I like ones with a hike and room for trade stuff best. I also like to hide. I have 5 caches so far and I'm thrilled when someone logs a new find on one. As I find more caches and see new types, I'm trying for better hides of my own. I like to trade although I rarely keep anything I get from a cache. I usually trade it again at another cache along with stuff of my own. I like travel bugs. I own 4 although only 2 are released. I have found several and would like to find more. I've never seen a geocoin of any kind! I log all finds and DNFs online! I guess I like just about all aspects of the game!
  20. Here's another one that has passed through my area with over 31,000 miles: simply Travel Bug Dog Tag and another: Blotts
  21. I have one in my possession right now that was released 12/30/2001 and has logged over 22,000 miles. I bet there's others out there that can beat that though. Jack Burton. . . ME!
  22. My family takes care of an old cemetery. The township owns it, so the township trustee is the one who hires us. Just another possibility of who to go to.
  23. One of my favorite finds was a DECON box hidden behind a loose stone in a rock wall. Another one was an empty garage door remote stuck to a tree with a magnet and camoflaged with bark. In general I like ones with a hike through a nice area like a state or county park. Micros are not my favorite although my husband seems to like them. Well camo'ed is nice as opposed to tupperware hidden under a pile of sticks. My husband seems to catch anything that looks out of the ordinary. I appreciate ones at rest areas on the interstates for cache and dash. Makes the trip more interesting.
  24. Snoogans, how long did it take you to type all that??? and think of it too?!
