  1. Maps are working for me in both Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and windows7
  2. mmm wonder if I could use him to find those nanos in high muggle places
  3. Looks like Open Cache Manager is what I'm looking for. One thing am I reading the page corect and I have to also install GPSBabel or does this get installed when I install Open Cache Manager? Thanks
  4. For Christ's sake, it's right there in Leamington...how hard is that! The co-ordinates are listed right there on the challenge 'page'. Punch them into your GPSr and GO! First I have no idea where Leamington is second I like how when you look at a cache it shows you how far away from you it is so you can decide if you want to load it into your GPSr.
  5. OK one thing how are you supposed to know where this one is without having to look up the coordinates?
  6. Just wondering if and how any Linux users load there GPSr with caches. I use Ubuntu but as of right now dual boot to windows for loading my PQs I have a Delorme PN40 and would like to be able to load it from Ubuntu.
  7. And unfortunately that is way out of my price range. Oh well it was an idea figured I could kill two birds with one stone.
  8. I am looking for a good GPS system that will let me track my geomutt and be able to geocache in one instead of having to carry two units. Really dont want to have to spend a lot of money for a new unit as they are out of our price range right now.
  9. Having an issue with my PN40 using Topo 9 to load pocket queries the caches load fine but seams like any way points are not loading even though the software shows that they are. Am I doing something wrong here?
  10. Ok got it mostly figured out I was sending the file to the wrong folder it does not go into my map folder. While looking around found a folder called united states had to send it there. Now the only problem I am having is for some reason when trying to save the BMP files windows7 wants to save as a jpg
  11. used GSAK did an export tomtom poi file to the tomtom shows the file in the maps folder but yet cant seem to find it when I power up the tomtom
  12. She has her own account so that is not a problem there. Both her and I thought her going after the FTF would look a little cheesy just was not sure how long she should wait to get the find maybe next time I go do maintenance I will take her with and let her find it first.
  13. So I have my first cache out in the wild with some finds on it so far. The wife was not with me when I placed it. She has no idea where it is, and me being me wont give her any hints. Except for driving her to the parking spot finding it will be on her. So what I am wondering is how long should she wait until she goes for the find or is it just totally frowned on for her to ever go for this one?
  14. You should have contacted me. We could have and got you going. Thanks Defiantly get with The Yinnies any time you have a question about your PN-40 he has been a great help with me learning mine when I first got it. Just wish we where closer so I could try and talk them into holding a class on it. MMMM now theres an event I would make the drive down for.
  15. So I have the above tomtom I have made a POI catagory called Geocaching but I can not figure out how to get caches into this GPSr. I do not want to use it to find the caches, have a handheld for that but would like to be able to use this unit so I can drive to location where I can park. Does anybody out there use this unit for that and if so how do you get the info into it?
  16. addictive? I hadn't realized that but than I tend to spend more time out in the woods looking for the elusive Tupperware than in here. I dragged the Mrs into this would turn down eating, drinking, work and anything else to go find the Tupperware

    NWI Cachers

When you say NWI just how far north are you talking? Some will say oh I'm in green bay so I'm up north but to those of us up near the border thats just not north.
  18. I usually am in Linux using Firefox I do not have Firefox remembering my password but I do have the box checked to remember me and have no problems. When I do log in on the windows side it all depends on how long its been since the last time I logged in but usually have no problems there either.
  19. Terry come on up here were supposed to be getting 10 to 16. Like you I got a late start. Got my first GPSr when I was thinking about hunting season. I have no plans on stopping now might slow down a bit at least until Santa brings me some snow shoes.
  20. I loaded the Topo onto my system but am still stumbling around in it. So far I haven't really seen it be much use though haven't really used it much. Big thing I'm looking for is some way of getting some of these logging roads up here on the unit so I can plan my route better. So now theres three DeLorme users here in the state to bad were all not closer The Yinnie's could give us a class. lol
  21. No you will not lose your caches. I think when you change out batteries the only thing you lose is what your doing right than. like if your following a route you would have to redo the route, I think I could be wrong as I have only had my PN-40 for about a month now and haven't been able to get out much with it being hunting season right now.
  22. I find this whole topic offensive. So I want everyone to change there post to something that I approve of.
  23. You might want to check out there forums it has been a big help for me with my pn-40
  24. This is one reason I just use a dedicated real GPS unit guess what I don't have to worry about some app. working with my phone since my phone is for making and receiving phone calls. My GPS is used for telling me where I am or where I want to go.
  25. OK dumb question but did you install the plug in? I just bought the same GPSr and have not had any problems downloading caches to it. All I did was download and install the plug in.
