  1. I just bought a M5, and love it so far. I will use it to get me to the area and then use my GC12 and etrex to find it. I was wondering, is there anything out there that will aloow me to download to my M5.
  2. So here I am in between routes, and decide to go and use a bathroom in one of our public city parks here in San Diego. I do my business and decide to go and find a cache that is here in the park, and so I wander off deeply engrossed with my e-trex. I walk down a trail and come to a fork in the road, and try to decide which of the two caches here I was going to get. I notice a movement off to my left, and look up to see a woman leaning forward over a rock and her gentlemen friend leaning over her back with their pants down and her shirt off. I thought "WOAH" and turned to the right and then saw a photographer and his assistant who were taking pictures of the afformentioned couple. I said "WOAH" again and turned and walked back to my bus trying to come to a valid reason for what I just saw. This by far is the most bizarre thing I have seen while geocaching out and around San Diego. What really angered me was that I din't get the cache.
  3. In case any one is interested in this, you can bring a picnic lunch or the like and enjoy the park when you are done. Or if you are interested do it before you go hunting. Nscalerand myself will be providing just ourselves, not food (unless you chose to bring the "cooking Humans" cookbook and a hibatchi. There is an off chance that I will be bringing some bottles of water for thirsty cachers when you are done, it just depends on my memory.
  4. Well, after nscaler went to the Pizza Event and spoke to many of you; we have decided to up the number of cache finds to 30 rather than limit it to 10 or less. We want as many people as possible to come and enjoy this outing. So as of now if you have 30 or less cache finds you will be put into th novice group. I mean what the heck I only have 80 something right now, and I don't feel like an expert like some of you that have 500-1000 finds. So anywhoo, I hope to see you there on April 3rd. Jaxxom
  5. MUGGLE MADDNESS!!!!!!!! So here is the scenario. Nscaler and I were sitting around thinking about doing an event, and here is what we came up with. 1) This will be an event cache of sorts, mostly for muggles. 2) To qualify you must have have 10 or less caches to your name, logged (and we will check thanks to modern technology), or bring someone with you who is a true muggle (hence the name). 3) this is not going to be a picnic or potluck, unless anyone wants to organize this part. 4) there will be at least 5 caches to find, and they will be variety of cache types to wet your whistle. 5) while these caches will be all close by they will not be posted until later, you will have to come to the event in order to get the coords for them that day. (and you know who you are, no flashlights required or needed) 6) this is intended as an introduction to the sport for muggles, but remember they will count toward your log total. 7) the target date is April 3rd, early enough in the day to accomodate any one going to the Padre game. (beacause we are going to the game) Here is the link for the cache page GCHPVD More to follow: any comments? nscaler & jaxxom
  6. Well, I will be placing my order here in the next few days. I like it, the look of it is very nice indeed. Jaxxom
  7. The best place to use as a group site is at Agua Caliente. The reasons are many but here are a few. 1) a thermal pool to rest your body in after a long day of geocaching. 2) location is not too far from many caches, and what the hell the drive is fun anyways. 3) thermal pool to rest you bodies in. 4) great areas in the surrounding hills to hide more caches. 5)thermal pool to rest you bodies in (waite did I mention these already) Anyway you get the point. Then campgroung can accomodate everything from tents to RV's. "Sing like no one is listening, Dance like no one is watching, and fart like you don't care"
  8. How did I get started? Well, it is all nscalers fault. He infected me with the bug by selling me his old GCV12. Now I haven't found hundreds of them like alot of you, since I have way too many commitments to deal with; mostly soccer though since I am a avid soccer Dad for my daughter and her team. Anywhooo.... My first find was "In Between", found it with nscaler, actually I found it and let nscaler hunt awhile longer. My toughest find so far was "Sly Foxes", not because I haven't logged it, because I was on the clock taking a break looking for it and I fell and twisted my knee (try explaining that one to your boss). The worst was when Nscaler (have you noticed a reacuring theme with nscaler) and I went caching on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year and we went for Yriums "Breeder cache" with little or no water left. I refer to that as the death march. We also found three others that day and somehow surrvived. This was the day we hid the "Geoswag" cache. When I have time, I try to go and find caches, but family first is my motto, and well..... I will break 100 I know I will but there is no real rush, there will always be caches placed and time to find. I have started to place my Geocard in caches as I find them, if you find one (see the avatar to the left) this has all of my pusuits on it. Take care, and good hunting... I must say, I am happy to see others are as concerned about the access to geocaching, as I have been for the geocacher with limitations. I have been a school bus driver for many years and i deal with children and adults with disabilities on a daily basis, and I have tried to be thoughtful when placing a cache. I have currently have three cahes out that are virtual, and hope to place a traditional in the near future. Lets keep this going since geocaching is not just for the person who can do a 5/5 without breaking a sweat :F "Sing like no one is listening, Dance like no one is watching, and fart like you don't care"
  10. Well, I have tried all of your tips and to no avail. Even a very helpful tech at Garmin tried to help (though he was not to happy I already knew the resets) and still nothing. I either have to live with as Nscaler told me or ship it in and spend money to have it fixed. "Sing like no one is listening, Dance like no one is watching, and fart like you don't care"
  11. How many of us are Rvr's and look for caches along our routes? I did this last summer and it provided an interesting diversion. I also use the gps to help with my navigation and so forth. Lets here from you and your experiences while RVing. "Sing like no one is listening, Dance like no one is watching, and fart like you don't care"
  12. My biggest hunt was 10 in one day, and I did it with my ten year old daughter. She loved it and twice reminded me to sign the logs. Yes, there are some I would never take her on, and naturally I would never do those myself due to my petite frame , but for the most part I think this is a hobby that can be done with kids and adults together
  13. my geocaching name came from playing D&D, he was a dwarf that cared not at all of what people thought of him... Hey that sounds familier
  14. What the heck nscaler is talking about me again. Yes we have at least 10 people now geocaching at our work, but somehow never together hmmmmmmm........
  15. Waite a minute people, nscaler just was trying to help out other less fortunate people with his button. Yes it is a copy, and yes it is not needed by many, and yes I am rambling..... But remember this is what makes our country great the right to take others ideas and mold them to our own designs
  16. Well, thanks for the info from both of you. I tried both suggestions, but when I tried to load an earlier version the unit just kept turning off and when I did the other, it just mostly gave the ability to fine tune the screen resolution. I will perservere though and try to find more info, since I really do not want to have to send this in for fixin...
  17. I just did the update to my etrex (yellow) with the memap program, and it shifted my screen to the left. Any body know what the heck to do?? I have reset the unit twice now and still no good. I have downloaded the 2.14 update twice with no correction noted. Any suggestions!!!!!
  18. I just tried to load the memap patch, and it worked.... but it moved my screen over to the left, any help with this one please!!!
  19. My toughest so far has ben the Sly Foxes cache. Not that is is incredibly diificult, but I fell and twisted my knee somewhat fierce. I was still on the clock for work as was wondering about how I tell them this. Fortunatly a good icing that night and I was as good as new..... well maybe just better. I do not know why but I have not been back.
  20. I am trying to adjust my schedule to attend this one, with my family... I just hope that we are able to come. I would love to compete in the 100k fun run even though I would probably make the 10meter fun walk
