  1. Excellent, look forward to reading your first cache page when it's published, although the cache itself is going to be outside my hunting zone. Good luck and if you need any more help there's plenty of people here willing to assist. Happy caching Thanks, you'll have to arrange a trip to the East Coast sometime!
  2. Thanks for the advice/comments. I wouldn't want to place a cache if I didn't think I would be doing this long term! Anyway I think getting permission should be okay as the vicar is a family friend. The church is interesting and not just to me and my family, there is a lot of history there and I want people to go and look at and in the church.
  3. Ooops good job I copied and pasted it! Hi everyone. Only been Geocaching for 3 weeks but really enjoying it. As I guess is natural, we are really keen on placing a geocache ourselves. The location we have chosen is the church where me and my wife married and where my daughter was christened. After researching the church grounds there is no 'traditional' cache there. However there is part of a multi cache that uses the war memorial in the church grounds as one of its waypoints. There is no physical cache there merely an answer to gain a co-ordinate for the final cache in that series. Will it be okay to put a cache in or near the church grounds even though it is kind of used already?
  4. Just been out again tonight, all 3 of us this time...found our 3rd geocache too! My daughter was pleased though she left her swap in the car! So a bit disappointed she couldn't swap anything!! Still as said above its great getting kids involved they love it. Hopefully will be doing a couple more over the weekend
  5. Oh I'm sure we'll find plenty before the holidays end! We'll probably go out tonight when I get in from work and then we're going camping next weekend and so we'll be geocaching as we walk!! Thanks for the links as well.
  6. Two weeks ago I hadn't even heard of Geocaching. But after joining a camping forum a few people were discussing it on there. I got the basic idea of Geocaching from their posts but me being me had to investigate further and have to say I was taken with the idea of it straight away. I have an 8 year old daughter and when I told her about it she was instantly excited by the idea. The first cache we tried to find was two days ago (Wednesday) and after reading the description it was clear the cache in question contained kids toys and so off we went, my daughter with a slinky in hand to swap with one of the treasures in the box!! Unfortunately we didn't find it after a really good look. After reading the 'recent logs' of the cache when we got home it looks like the cache has gone missing. Not to be deterred me and my daughter headed out again last night and found our first 2 caches!! Both were in 35mm camera film boxes but finding them was really exciting. My daughter was dead happy and has 'caught the bug' already. And when we got home, my OH who hadn't come with us last night was a little bit jealous when we got home and told her we'd found our 1st 2 geocaches!! I'm already researching GPS units as my iPhone is fine to start with but I can see that a dedicated unit will be better for the future.
